File Name: Star Gazer (Stern) VP10 FS

File Submitter: allknowing2012

File Submitted: 29 Oct 2015

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): allknowing2012
tab's table for the light & switch ids - with corrections.
1.1 - Hauntfreaks for the pf tweaks and STAT for taking a look as well
Manufacturer: Stern
Year: 1980
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Classic Astrology themed Stern game.
There are no bottom inlanes in this game - just semi-circle concave scoops.  Time the bottom rollovers, light the spinner and then shoot away!

If you have suggested Inclines,FOV,Layback settings, feel free to post them.

Table requires VP10 (beta). VP10 is not that hard to install - it sits nicely with VP9 - simply place the executable in your VP directory, update your vbs scripts and you are good to go with VP10 tables.

There is a modified rules ROM (along with a free play rom) available that is set to make it a bit harder. I believe you can use this, simply download rom and change the script line
  Const cGameName = "stargzr"
to
 Const cGameName = "stargzrb"

I don't believe the dip switch (F6) for background music does anything in the rom & vpm. Suggest turning on 5 ball and Extra Ball options.

Enjoy!
Daryl

PS No tassel -- google it.

Hey Daryl, nice work on this one, table looks great (I like the HDR image tweaks), the ball physics feel pretty realistic as well. Thank you!

Thanks go to Hauntfreaks for his excellent efforts in the hdr tweaks. Watch for a  desktop update tomorrow that 32assassin provided.

Appreciate all the collaboration efforts going on these days!

This version is a VPX version! Not a VP9 FS Cabinet version.

I am guessing many people have missed downloading this table, as it is in the "VP9 Cabinet section".

You might want to reupload this in the VPX section, or have an Administrator move it for you.

There is no Star Gazer VPX table available in the VPX section here.

Thanks for all the work put into this!

It is appreciated!

A new version (mod) was put out (by someone else) last year with updated stuff .. so this one is a bit dated.

It may be dated, but it has earned its notch on the totem pole of Visual Pinball History.
I personally don't get rid of an authors table, when a newer version is released by a different author.

It aint here, so it dont count.
(and if they modded your table why they no put it here?)

I would ask Noah, like Xeno says, to move this table into the VPX tables section.
People are missing that your table exists.

dated =/= worse
i have lots of tables where i prefer the original

Siggi made a mod of this table that is VERY nice. I'm not sure if it is available anymore.

Normally people don't post a link to a newer version table, in someone elses support topic for the same table.

To me, that is totally direspectful to the original author.

How would you feel if someone posted a link to newer table version in YOUR support topic for YOUR table version?

I am guessing you probably wouldn't like it.

I would say the same thing if it happened to any of you.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Carry on.

Check-out the first review on my Theatre of Magic mod if you want to see some folks idea of respect! Happy for Noah to move that to the bin, if he's moving stuff.

There's a lot of tables that aren't posted here, so people must have a bunch of reasons.

There's a lot of tables that aren't posted here, so people must have a bunch of reasons.

I've yet to hear one valid reason to take from an open source, freeware community and not give back. It's at the top of the list of most heinous breaches of etiquette in this type of setting, only to be outdone by selling it.

I'm not a table author, so I can't really answer... but I've read some complaints, over time, here and other places where people post their work.  A person could pour over the archives, I guess, if they wanted to.

Most of the time, you just have to consider the source. A lot of different agendas throughout the years, most of it selfish. It's just how people have come to behave in recent years. Honor and respect are endangered species.
