File Name: Operation Thunder (Gottlieb 1992) FS VP9.9

File Submitter: mfuegemann

File Submitted: 13 Feb 2015

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): mfuegemann
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1992
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is Operation Thunder by Gottlieb, Full Screen edition.

Akiles provided me again with loads of pictures of the table. I had to redraw the playfield as there were no highres images of a stripped playfield availiable. The image of the photomerged playfield, Wtiger did some time ago gave me valuable hints on the exact playfield layout and the position of hidden objects.
The Guru provided the manual pages with the solenoid, switch and lamp numbers. The VP8 table by zaphod, destruk and scapino shed light on some details, especially the way they created the Vari-Target was very useful.
Additional Thanks go to Fuzzel for providing the lightmap images for the inserts, Kodiac for the flipper primitive routine and to JPSalas for the fading flasher code.

Configurable options at the top of the script are
- GI brightness
- Flasher light level
- FreePlay (faked)
- The use of the backbox GI solenoid to control the playfield GI for additional light effects

If You have any problems with the pin registering inserted coins, please download and install the Gottlieb nvram files.
The table comes with the new configuration file code by gtxjoe that creates/reads cController.txt from the User directory. Just change the variable cController to 0 and the table is looking for the configuration file.

I added a static backglass file to the zip file.

Have fun and please use the support topic to post any findings and suggestions.

Michael

Thank you mfugemann. Nice table--one that I had never heard of. DB2S is available "elsewhere"  Hopefully someone can create a wheel for it

Hi,

yes, the table is a beast. It is hard to catch the ball on either flipper and the left outlane is a killer. It always takes an effort to calm down and look for the next objectives.

One remark: I am offline until monday evening. So if You have anything that needs fixing, please be a bit patient.

Michael
