File Name: The Addams Family (Bally 1992) FS VP99x

File Submitter: htamas

File Submitted: 05 Feb 2015

File Category: VP 9.x MOD Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): melon
htamas
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1992
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

This is a mod of melon's great beta table version, including all suggested corrections and additions from the WIP thread. Due to some of these, the table is not completely authentic but they are a nice improvement (at least in my opinion).

Thanks to:

melon - beta of the updated table
dark - electric chair model
sliderpoint - THING box texture, bookcase mod graphics
Carny_Priest - for summarizing the steps needed to include all corrections

...and all others who I may be forgetting to mention.

Please comment in the support topic for any suggestions and if any correction needed.

Thanks for this version of TAF. After playing a few games, I noticed that the when the Thing does the automatic flip, it never goes into the graveyard like it is supposed to.

That's strange because I played quite a few games on this and I got the automatic flip a couple of times and it worked fine. I didn't change anything that I'd think is related to the autoflip... but perhaps something else has a bearing on this function.

Did anyone else notice this?

The only thing that was changed in the target area was the elasticity of the two switches (sw45 and sw47) to avoid the drain after the train wreck shot. I don't believe this should affect the aiming of the autoflip though...

What is the easiest way to invoke this function for testing? I forgot... but I would like to avoid having to play until I get there :)

I had the Thing Flip miss once and make the shot later in the game so maybe it's something to do with some setting being randomized in the VP991 rebuild by Melon that was not random in the VP9.2 build?

I played a number of games last night on my cab and the auto flipped work every time.   Successfully maybe 10 -15 times without a miss.    Interesting that it does not for other builds.

What is the difference between this and the "gold" version and were they two completely different versions available out in the real world?  I never played TAF on a physical machine.

Bob, please check your VP version and make sure it's VP991 and not an older version or the physmod version.

it's a beauty but ball is too slow and compared to previous versions, so the game becomes too easy, hope it will be fixed in another release ;)

Yeah, I noticed this is way too easy compared to the earlier version by melon. When all of a sudden I can be Grand Champion with over 1 billion points, then that must be too simple :D

I'm not sure if the ball is too slow... but in the previous version the ball control with flippers was a lot less accurate. It was much harder to make the shots than on this one. I cannot make up my mind if this is a good thing or not.

Perhaps the physmod table is more difficult, will have to try.

One thing is sure, I remember the real table was definitely harder than this. I'm not a builder so not sure how can I make this more difficult in a relatively easy way. Perhaps increasing the table slope? Or any other idea?

I don't think it's too easy, personally. The goal is to have fun and this version brings it. I never got close to being Grand Champ on Melon's version. I hardly ever played the table because I thought it was TOO unforgiving.

http://mirror2.ipdb....AF_and_TAFG.txt

Images and other Informations are at ipdb.org Links above from htamas

The Cousin Extras in the Gold Edition are very nice.

Thing Shoot, i remember, onetimes it was not, but next everytime was ok.

Thanks.  Looks and plays awesome!

Sounds like people may be playing with different physics versions to me, as having owned one of these for 6-7 years it didn't seem to easy, on first few plays at least.

No trouble with the auto flip either, worked every time.
