File Name: Krull (Gottlieb 1983) FS VP9.9

File Submitter: mfuegemann

File Submitted: 04 Oct 2014

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): kevinleedrum
mfuegemann
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1983
ROM: Link to ROM
Media Pack: Link to Media Pack
Permission to MOD?: No

This is Krull by Gottlieb, Full Screen edition.

I joined forces with kevinleedrum, who made a breathtaking redraw of the 3 playfields, collected all sorts of information about the table and sorted out the solenoid and lamp specifications.
The indepth photo documentation, made by Chris Hutchins, was a great help as other sources of information about Krull have been very limited.

There is an option to show a lit fresnel lens above the lower playfield while it is active, if You like it close to the original. For the release version the lower playfield is fully visible, if active.
The flipper, slingshot and bumper sounds are recorded from a gameplay video of Krull.

Arngrim again provided the DOF code. Thanks for this. You can choose between the different settings at the top of the script.

If You want to go for the Extra Ball on the lower PF, set the Novelty property within the DIP switch settings (F6) to "normal". Otherwise You will earn 100.000 points instead.

We hope, You enjoy the table, as much as we do.
Have fun and please use the support topic to post any findings and suggestions.
Michael

Yes, wanted this table for a long time but the rotated desktop version just wouldn't work.

Looks and plays great!  The small ball on the lower playfield took a little getting use to but it works great.

Thank you mfuegemann and all that helped bring this fun table to VP!

Anyone else getting an issue with credits being added when using the nudge keys during gameplay? It inserts coins with each nudge press, then the scoring resets and starts to display corrupt graphics/digits.

Hi open6l,

never had such a thing but I will have a look.

Edit: Thank You for finding this. Please change the tilt switch in line 111 to 57. I will upload an update as soon as possible.

vpmNudge.TiltSwitch=57

The table looks great and plays nice and fast, but I get a little bummed out playing it.  I think the combination of the rom and sounds and brightness of the pf gives me the creeps.  Maybe a slightly darker pf would bring the table out of the doldrums.  That's it, I think dark and foreboding rom music and SFX calls for an equally dark and foreboding lighting/atmosphere

Very cool table. . . never heard of it before, I like it!

***EDIT*** Never mind, looks like it was controller.hidden = 1 ***EDIT***

Can someone remind me how to remove the score display from the playfield (cab setup). It's been a while since I've loaded VP tables (man it sure has come a long way, amazing clarity and realism on the graphics/toys - awesome!) and I seem to remember something about adding .hidden = 1, but I don't know if that still applies??

Thanks!

yes the .hidden = 1 still applies

If you using a DB2S backglass you can right click on the backglass and select hidden from the display dropdown instead.

I love the creepy 80s vibe of this one, especially the low synth sounds. Amazing detail in the playfield, great job!

I just tried this table & the backglass on a 2 monitor setup. It's really a good game!

On the backglass the letters "B" and "E" from the word BEAST are always lit up, & none of the other letters are. I have no idea what controls the letters and cannot find any instructions. Apparently the IPDB has deleted them.

I'm presuming hitting different targets controls the lights, but those two letters are on from the start of a game. Maybe that's normal, I don't know. But any instructions on what controls the letters would be appreciated.

Thanks.
