File Name: Fast Draw - FS

File Submitter: loserman76

File Submitted: 25 Sep 2014

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): Loserman
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1975
Permission to MOD?: Yes, with approval

'*
'*        Gottlieb's Fast Draw (1975)
'*        Table build/scripted by Loserman!
'*
'*  Thanks to the following for their contributions (whether they know it or not!)
'*  If I have missed anyone, let me know as this table would not exist without the
'*  folks in the community.
'*
'*  Images used for this table were culled from IPDB, Pinside, and various other websites only
'*
'*
'*  JPSalas - gameroom backdrop and methods gleaned from his fantastic tables
'*  EalaDubhSidhe - table object templates
'*  Black - HS save/load routines
'*  Itchigo - table templates which gave me ideas on how to accomplish what I wanted in this table
'*  CONRAM - various code ideas learned by tracing through code on his tables
'*  akiles50000 - for that totally awesome tutorial on table building. So much stuff I now understand because of the work put into this tutorial
'*  Inkochnito - scorecards/instruction cards
'*  Pinuck - Gottlieb chimes and score motor routines
'*  Herweh - directB2S designer and tools
'*  JimmyFingers - rolling ball and other objects' sound routines
'*  Bodydump - for his assistance on various tables that got me using primitives and his lights
'*  UncleWilly - for his primitive templates
'*
'*
'*  Of course, the team behind Visual Pinball - without them, there wouldn't be much choice for playing pinball on a PC
'*  I also must include Black and his Future Pinball as I used tables on that platform to help in building my VP tables.
'*
You can enable dB2S by downloading my backglass file and modifying the script line that reads "B2SOn=false" to "B2SOn=True" (without the quotes of course)
To adjust Balls Per Game and Replay settings, hit '[' then '6' toggles 3 or 5 balls, and 7 moves through the replay settings (pay attention to the insert cards). When you have set them the way you like, hit '[' to exit settings.

NOTE: This table (like all of my recent releases) requires VP9.9x as it contains primitives

Yea man! Thanks for a legitimately scripted Fast Draw! No more of this Amazon Hunt nonsense.

Thanks for this. There is a very good PF redraw as well in FP.

Yes feels more like the real thing. But....

As open6l says the playfield, plastics and inserts are a bit noisy. The old FastDraw from JPSalas and the FS conversion from Kruege66 has a cleaner version of the playfield and the plastics.

Probably you could use these to make it a real beauty.

best regards

Martin

I deleted my old Fast draw from JP and krudge99, but my Pinballx Media still had a pf pic and it was much clearer than this one.  You might want to get permission and use that playfield since it was so clean and clear.  Thanks for the table anyways.

Slydog,

I was denied the use of the  FP images (which I believe JP used as a basis for his version) so you have the best images that are available. I'll leave it at that.

That is odd since there was a blanket statement on another site saying images were free to use so long as there was credit to original author as 'co-author' (or something along those lines).

Yes, it is true, I used Popotte's graphics (I only changed the values to fit the Amazon ROM :) ). Popotte is a very nice person, I'm sure he will give you permission to use his images.

Loserman may I have your permission to use your script in a mod of this table? It's one of my favorite tables and for a long time I waited for a EM scripted version. Now that I am building tables there was a technique I wanted to try out and I'd love to do it to the one table that got me into pinball... This of course is using Popottes great playfield images and resources from the FP version. I can't script EM tables so I'd like to use your code. Thank you for your time!

edit: and I mean no offense to JPSalas, for the longest time I had no clue what the difference was between his and the standard scoring table :) It is a beautiful build. Why did you use the rom, JP?

I can save you some time as far as swapping out images - I actually have a desktop version of this table that uses Popotte's images - I just can't release it because he told me no. Feel free to mod it all you want, just make sure you get Popotte's approval for the images since he said no to me.

Why I did use the rom? Simply because I didn't know anything about the rules or scoring of the real table, and also because at that time I didn't know much about building Em's either :) That's why I made a few EM's using a ROM, like this table, El Dorado, Royal Flush,, or that semi original "El bueno, el feo y el Malo". I spent almost a year building my Spiderman table mostly to learn how to script an original, but even at that time I had to give up to script the table for four players. IN 2006 I made some attemps to script a few Em's, like Pyramid, but I wasn't comfortable with those scripts :) And to build a table like Fast Draw o el Dorado using a ROM I could do them in one week :)

Got it, I know you did some original scripts so I was confused, but I don't know the timeline. It felt like Fast Draw was more recent than some of them, it's very good looking

I also cannot script EM tables (yet) which is why I waited til now to build Fast Draw. I understand some people can convert FP scripts to VP but I don't know how...I may never understand scripting originals, but that they definitely make rom controlled recreations look easy :) Once I figured out why yours was based on Amazon Hunt I started to look into that, it would be great to have a high quality version of that table as well but it looks like there aren't very good resources. Perhaps when I finish FD I will re-draw AH for another build...

One request... Can you please add a high score sticky note or something similar to record high scores?  Very pretty table!  I love a great looking EM table

When I try to run this table I get an error...

"An error occurred while parsing EntityName. Line 236 position 25."

Any idea what's causing this?
