This is a high rez backglass, stitched together using the best images I could find (thanks to chriz99 and rosve for assets) and a brand new spider that I created from scratch since I couldn't find an acceptable one to use. This is one of my favorite tables, had a great time getting the imagery working with Herweh. Big thanks to rosve for the original B2S version, this was done with that as the inspiration. :)

Wow this looks incredable ! Even has that depth of field look to it like the real machine. A++ work ! I read that with v1.1 these now work with the previos Rosev b2s tables. Can you explain the process of switching from the Rosev b2s glass to the direct.b2s glass? Thanks !

Did you make sure you upgraded to the latest version of the backglass server first? You need to have 1.1 for it to work. Herweh might know otherwise, but that's the first thing I'd verify.

Thanks, we went back and forth with several versions to try and capture that depth, so it's super gratifying that it comes across. :)

I've upgraded to the newest 1.1 backglas server...because it doesn't work with 1.0.1

That's not the problem ... btw I have this error with all other tables I've tested ... like Freefall oder Class of 1812 :(

Ok I don't think I've ever used capitals on this forums but... THE NEW SPIDER AND BG ARE AMAZING!!!!!!!   :good:

Fantastic job to you both, it has depth, clarity, the right lighting, just perfect. Also seems more responsive but maybe that was the cider :)  Scared Stiff is a bloomin' brilliant table. I have 3 versions on my cab (JP normal, Jimmy's GI8 and the JP's Prototype) and have added the new arachnid to all 3. Really good work, thanks for sharing this.

edit: I noticed the spider does not run too well in 'exe' mode.  Not that it needs it as it runs totally fine in normal mode.

Maximus, just comment out the vpinmame line, and send the 'launch B2S ' setting to false. That's all I did and it worked first time. be sure to make sure your file names are all consistent.

THANKS ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!  :):) :)

Fixed with server version 1.1.1

Just change the 'Set Controller' line as always (to ("B2S.Server")) and it's already working. Then there is a bit of overhead since Rosve's commands are writing into the registry but this is insignificant.

More interesting is the startup behaviour in Hyperpin. Since the table name ends with 'B2S' Hyperpin tries to start the matching "old" backglass EXE file. I did this yesterday and had two backglasses running :D. Removing the exe file doesn't work, then you get an error message from Hyperpin. So the best is (but I haven't tried it yesterday) rename the VP file. I.e. it is 'ScaredStiff_FS_B2S.vpt' rename it to 'ScaredStiff_B2S_FS.vpt'.

Yeah, thanks for the info, got the same info from JF. Will have a look at this. It's running fine at my cab but I'm sure this communication can be optimized a bit.

Is anyone running this on a 2 screen cabinet with the grill showing? I use a real DMD so I couldn't test that, I presume it all looks fine but if anyone has suggestions be good to know.

Also I made my own chrome Bally logo for the grill since I couldn't find one I liked. If anyone wants a copy let me know, I can post it up.

I set the LaunchBackGlass "ScaredStiff_FS_B2S", false 'True=Launch bg ,  False=Don't launch bg.

On line 63 to false. Now only the new b2s launches.

Really nice work guys and great that it can work with the existing B2S versions by just setting the old one to false (along with the new b2s.server setting of course). Since, you ask Aurich, I run a 2 screen cabinet and it does work fine and look great.  However, I would say that the grill area is a bit tight height wise in proportion to the overall back glass / screen area.  If looking at the IPDB image for Scared Stiff's backglass it seems that grill area DMD / speaker / wood framing part at the bottom take up almost 1/3 of the total BG height.  With this version its taking up only about a quarter.  It just means that the pinMAME DMD has to be a bit more squished than it normally would and you might lose a bit of DMD real estate trying to size and sqaure off to the correct ratios.

It seems that maybe for this and other DMD style directb2s backglasses (for this generation of pin and others with similar proportions) that giving this grill area a little more head room would help get closer to the real BG grill to translite ratios.  This would help the 2 screen users while really not impacting the 3 screen users that much because it get's stretched out anyway when they use it.  So, maybe in future giving the grill a higher defined space in the editor / directb2s release would be ideal as the 2 screen users cannot stretch it up more into the graphic area after the fact but the 3 screen systems / users can simply stretch and push the grill off the screen regardless of how high it's boundary was defined.

What resolution are you running your backglass monitor?

I hear your point, but I just wonder with most people seeming to have 16:10 or 16:9 monitors for the backglass it seems like you'd sacrifice an awful lot of the actual art (let alone interactive space with the spider in this case) just to fill it up with "dead" black speaker grill.

One option might be to lose a bit of authenticity (we're already tossing it out the window somewhat with these aspect ratios) and cheating the DMD opening on the grill larger, so that you had more space to enlarge the pinMAME display.

If you could take a pic of your setup so I could see how it looks that might help.

I'm loving the DB2S backglasses! Having a problem with scared stiff though. I have the DB2S 1.1.1 exe, build 445 of VP9.15 and for some reason the spider doesnt show! this is the only backglass out of 6-7 that i've had an issue with. Running a 2 screen cab, backglass monitor is set at 1280x1024. Also tried running in exe mode and not exe mode but still no arachnid! any help would be great!

Yea this backglass is awesome. I have the same issue with running on .exe mode. Spider moves slower. I'd like to run in exe mode so the micro stutter of the gameplay with the light mod doesn't slow down multiball.

I'll release a new server tonight. With this server the spider is running in EXE mode as smooth as in standard mode.
