I wonder if there is an estimated date for the oficial VPX8 release. I see that the VPX8 Master branch hasn't received any major updates in the last months, so I wonder if that Master branch will be released as VPX8, or that the 10.8.1 will be the VPX8 final release?

I ask because I have updated all my 237 VPX tables so they play and looks nice in VPX8 RC4, but I do not want to upload them until VPX8 is released in case I may need to do more adjustments. Any info will be helpful :)

JP you are amazing and a legend!! I can't wait to play all 237 of your updated tables. As bad as I am at pinball it won't take me long. LOL.

I enjoy every table you build and appreciate the amount of time you spend perfecting them for the entire community. I also want to thank you for all the helpful tips you provide on this forum and for passing on your knowledge to other authors with the tutorial you wrote as well as working with them directly on tables. You are a sage and no one on this site is more respected than you.

It does seem like maybe 10.8.1 will be the official final release. There are so many updates to it every week and looks to be the main focus. 10.8 has received a few updates recently but they all seem to be minor and 10.8 seems like it is as good as it can get already. I am very happy with 10.8 as it is. I wonder what 10.8.1 will offer. Hopefully the DX version will be at least DX12 and maybe they will be using Unity to run it like VPE will. May be wishful thinking. I have no idea what it takes to implement these things.

I hope that someone working on 10.8 and 10.8.1 will answer your question soon. Maybe someone working on this can also provide an update on what new features 10.8.1 will have. Peace. ✌️

I think it needs some time for the final 10.8 release, remaining 129 open bugs in github...

I get error hidapi64.dll is missing when try to run newest 10.8.1

I tried https://github.com/libusb/hidapi // hidapi-0.14.0 (lastest) // Assets: hidapi-win.zip  // unzip 'x64/hidapi.dll' to VPX folder renamed to 'hidapi64.dll'.

Don't know that it's the best way but seems like it's working now. :db:

Human Interface improvement proposal - VPX 10.8 RC4 - POV Settings

Still new at this hobby, but after manually setting up Window POV on a couple of hundred tables, I think this feedback/proposals may be useful input for refining VPX. They may seem to be small issues but in my opinion will make a significant positive impact to new users who have many tables to adjust. As reference these points are all related to ''Window" POV.

Must Have:

1. Preferences - Video/Graphics Options - Under "Edit Settings" - "Specific Table Overrides" should be selected by default. In this moment  "Global application settings" is selected by default. This causes a lot of mistakes when switching back and forth to tweak adjustments - and a lot of frustration when one realizes after a few tweaks that one is accidently using the Global one :fool:

2. Preferences - Video/Graphics Options - Under "Cabinet Layout" - "Screen Inclination" - Include this setting within the F12 options. From my experience this setting plays a major role in getting window POV just right.  :throw:

3. F12 - POV Window -  Change the description for "Table YZ Scale" to only say  "Table Y Scale" - Item 4 will explain why  :pokey:

4. F12 - POV Window -  Add a separate setting for zoom and "name it ''Table XY setting "' The main reason for this is that it causes a lot of errors/inefficiencies when moving the curser up or down and the up again cause one thought the curser was moving in the wrong direction.   :juggle:

5. Include new setting " Screen Inclination" - see item 2. :love39:

Nice to have:

5. Cluster the settings that are used most frequently directly above one another, this will reduce the errors/frustration caused when scrolling over unused options. My proposal would be the following strategical order: :aikido:

Table  X Scale

Table Y Scale

Vertical Offset

Window Top Z Ofs

Window Bottom Z Ofs

Screen Inclination

Player Y

Is anyone having focus issues with 10.8.0? I'm having issues with the playfield losing focus when the table starts. I don't think it's the specific table, I think it's global.

I'm using VPinballX-10.8.0_GL-1975-051104c-Release-win-x64

I'm not having performance issues like stutter, but some VPW tables take 30-60 seconds to start after pressing play.

I'm having ball trail issues in RC4. I upgraded to RC5 and immediately was plagued with sticky flippers in a ton of tables so I went back to RC4... But I was previously a little ahead of RC4 so I'm attempting to find a release that is pre RC5 that works for me. I'm not sure if it's just me that has had these issues! I see RC6 was released today so I could try that...

RC6 released a couple hours ago. Update and see if it fixes your issue. Also update vpinmame as it fixes flipper issues with a lot of tables.

Not seeing sticky flippers again yet after updating both. But the artifacts showing on ball trails is still there for me. It seems to just be a visual thing, but it looks strange.

I noticed this too on some tables. Started for me with rc5, but thought I was the only one.
Did you create a github issue for it?

Appears one is open from 3 weeks ago for 10.8.1. Indicates that ball trails may be legacy anyway? I guess to be fair it looks fine without them.

I have a lot of micro stuttering with the latest betas, it might have something to do with the Backglass/POV lights,

for example, Surf'n Safari runs smoothly with VPinMame, but stutters with displays made with lights (640 lights).

Is analog nudge, particularly with a gamepad, still borked in VPX?

It's the beta of VPinMame, or as it communicates with VP to create stutter,

with the official VPM 3.5 it works smoothly.

It works.

It works, but it seems like the issue of it only working on the Y axis, and without the sensitivity of being analog? I was having the same issue a few years ago at this point, and it still seems to be working that way. Regardless of which way I flick the analog stick, it only nudges upwards, and at full force.

Not sure if there is some secret sauce of settings I need to activate, but I've seen a few other threads of people with the same issue over the years, and none of them ever came to a conclusion on how to fix it.
