So, I tried 10.8 with the latest build and a build from a couple of weeks ago.  and my Pinscape kl2z Nudge does not work. And i am giving the cab really hard Bumps. (even Direct contact with the board in the cab) Checked the nudge options to  make sure all the setting were Correct.  Still No Dice.

Loaded 10.72 final back in and Nudge works fine again ?     Bummer I really like the new Camera Mode on 10.8 overall to Me a More Faster Load times with the tables.

There is new beta in town:
https://github.com/v...runs/5160713713

New revisions comes and revisions goes.
I prefer for my cabinet the master versions and not the standalone.
Or use beta2:

Tried Rev 1212.  My issue is still present.

The issue I'm having was mentioned in a prior bug thread. That thread listed 2 separate issues: One was some weird rendering on a table, and the 2nd was super bright flashers.  Vbousquet request additional information from the original bug author twice in the thread.  Since I was having the super bright flasher issue myself, I made a separate bug thread about it today.

I made sure I filled out the bug template as best as I could.  I uploaded my VPX settings and even some other settings that may or may not be relevant.  I listed 5 tables, with screenshots, that have the issue.  I found 5 more in my library before I got tired of searching, but figured the bug was visible enough with the first 5 lol.  The thing is...  I don't recall having this issue the entire time I've been on 10.8.  My last post was a random thought I had about MS Visual C++ Redist.  I had a game on Steam that pushed the latest Visual C++ Redist around 2 weeks ago.  I'm not sure if it relevant, but I added that information just a few minutes ago.

Man I hope its enough for Vbousquet to track down the issue.

I am on newer hardware (Gtx 3070) but dont currently use VR. Should I try out the OpenGL version or stick to the DirectX 9 version? Any advantages to using the OpenGL version for non VR use?

With beta 2 the general lighting of Baywatch is turned off on startup,

however I can force it to turn on via scripts with a simple code in the Table Init section.

Some feedback for the GPUBuffer tweaks on rev.1211.

When playing VPWs Last Action Hero I would get stutter/frame drops during ball launch and the start of multiball with any previous versions. I'm happy to report that with this revision the stutter is gone and it plays smooth from start to finish.

In build 1211, is anyone else getting Windows error beeps with any keypress in the editor, or do I have something else going on?

Yes, I noticed the same thing happening. Specifically, I noticed it happening during coin and auto launch key presses. I just turned off the offending sound notifications in control panel (Windows 10).

Error sound when running tables with ROMs

I am not sure if VPX instigates it or if it is VPinMAME
So i will report both places.

Table you can use to test with
https://drive.google...iew?usp=sharing

ROM used
spcpoker.zip
https://archive.org/...38/spcpoker.zip

What happens is
You can start the table and it plays fine, but pressing certain keyboard keys result in the windows alert or error sound
Q is one key, Enter also, all NumPad keys (With Numlock On) cause the sound as well.

Not all keys cause the sound
Shift keys do not, keys that dont actually type a character or send a linefeed (like enter key) do not cause a sound.
Arrow keys, insert del home end F keys etc make no error sound.

If you simply hit F1 and then click OK or Cancel, doesnt matter which, in the VPinMAME dialog, no more sounds.
If you reload ROM with F3, you get the error sounds again, until you hit F1 and either hit OK or Cancel or just hit escape which is same as cancel

It does not happen with EM tables

There is no error visually no dialog appearing or anything

VPX 10.8 rev 1205
VpinMAME 3.6 May 30 2023 version

VPM is set to cabinet mode and to ignore CRC errors a nd skip startup test.

Attaching my VPMKeys as a text file, but i dont see anything amiss with it?

VPMKeys.txt

reported in both VPX and VPM githubs as i dont know who is actually at fault

Not sure if this is a bug or an issue with the table file?
What happens is you open it in editor, editor is fine

You launch table, it loads fine etc

You hit Q or Escape to bring up menu

No menu, then crash

Odd thing though
The table script is 100% empty, not a single thing in it.
I thought maybe some script issue so i erased the script entirely, that wasnt it

I mean i guess it could be an object on the table? but odd the table would load then

You can hold Q and VPX will exit as intended, no crash log form that

Kinda funky and i am leaning more towards a table file issue
but it is JP's LTD Hustler table, and i literally had not done a thing to it yet, haven't changed a single object, i would think it would have vomited on him in editing it?

I was going to take a stab at making the ROM work.

not sure if its a 10.8 thing, but I get some crashes going through all my tables to rerecord playfields/backglass/dmd.  When it gets to

Endless Summer (Original)(2020)(SS)(Makmak)(0.9.7.9)

I get an error "The temporary file"C:\Visual Pinball\VPTemp0.ttf" could not be written."

I see that file in my VP dir but I can't delete it as its open in windows.  If I click OK it will run fine, strange.

any ideas?

Any advice for a good approach to redo the POV setup for all of my tables on a cabinet? I'm moving to a new cabinet so I'll need to re-download all the vpx files (as they were previously modified/saved for a different monitor size/resolution). Since I'm sort of starting over with a large number of tables, it seems like a good opportunity to use the new window modes in 10.8, but that's all new to me and I'd like to nail down the specifics before doing it a few hundred times.

It doesn't really have anything to do with the 10.8 beta thread, but you can export a pov file of an average table and rename it AutoPOV.pov and it will start all tables with that setting then you can go from there saving .pov's for any table you re-size.

Thanks! Yeah I definitely want to come up with a good autopov file as an early step of this process, but was also interested in the new 10.8 camera/layout modes. I haven't found any videos or discussions on that topic yet.

once windows pokes a font, it wont let go of it
log out and back in, or reboot
then use command prompt and go to folder and delete the tff font file

dont open file explorer cause it will result in the font getting cached

You can open file explorer once font is deleted

Some table must have the font embedded
most author's dont do that anymore.

When double clicking the GL.exe to run a table do you have a "tables" folder open automatically and choosing a table from there if so, try closing that tables folder and click the "file" tab at the top and then open and grab the table file that way. You may know this already but if not..... also if using the GL version for non VR be sure to disable VR mode in the VR Settings.

Vbousquet reopened my issue a few hours ago.  Someone found another table that had the weird super bright lights on it right after the first initial fix.  :(

I wish I could help Vbousquet by testing something for him.  Dude is a beast and working his arse off to fix bugs in 10.8.

  • Is there a way to support screen recording with ffmpeg when using OpenGL?  For example, when initiated via PinballY frontend, this no longer to work and just records a black screen when using the GL version, but works fine for the 10.8 beta 2 non-GL version.  I did do a quick bit of research on their website but came up empty.  If it helps, below is an example of the CLI that's used.. I'm assuming use of GDI is the issue but not sure how/if this can be worked around?
    ffmpeg.exe" -y -loglevel warning -thread_queue_size 32 -f gdigrab -framerate 30 -offset_x 6400 -offset_y 0 -video_size 4096x2160 -i desktop -c:a none -t 15 -probesize 30M -rtbufsize 2000M -c:v libx264 -threads 8 -qp 0 -preset ultrafast "C:\vp\apps\PinballX\Media\Visual Pinball\Table Videos\The Addams Family (Bally 1992).tmp.mkv"

When I record my screen via PinballX, the screen is captured completly :

ffmpeg.exe -f gdigrab -framerate 60 -offset_x 0 -offset_y 0 -video_size 3440x1440 -t 00:00:20 -i desktop -c:v libx265 -crf 25 -preset fast -pix_fmt yuv420p -movflags +faststart "test.mp4"

maybe try a later version of ffmpeg and change the GDIgrab to DDAgrab ( see https://ffmpeg.org/f...rs.html#ddagrab )

ffmpeg.exe -filter_complex ddagrab=0,hwdownload,format=bgra -framerate 60 -offset_x 0 -offset_y 0 -video_size 3440x1440 -t 00:00:20 -c:v libx265 -crf 25 -preset fast -pix_fmt yuv420p -movflags +faststart "test.mp4"

Thanks Mike. As per your suggestion, after updating fffmpeg to the latest version and also updating VPX to the latest 10.8 beta (from the latest pipeline build).. PinballY now records the table video correctly with an unchanged CLI.
