The benefit is the file size. It reduces file size by 67% or more, without loss of quality to picture.

WebP allows for transparency also.

Yes the B2S Editor would benefit hugely by adding the WebP format as acceptable file type.

Specially for ones with alot of animations.

Like xenonph said yes file size is reduced a lot and I would assume load times and maybe even gameplay is improved. 

The downside is you need 10.7 to run it as 10.6 does not support the new format. 

 

Just noticed a code bug and missing light on 3.6.2, Just updated to 3.6.3.
