Installing .Net Framework 4.6.1 solved it. :dblthumb:

Huh, really.

@sliderpoint, @shadowshd, @OzBlackKnight, does that happen with you as well?

Hi Freezy,

I posted my log here.
I've got the same error as Sliderpoint (his message here).

Thanks ;)

i had same issues with everyone crashing via setup and launching tables under win7 x64 on my cabinet PC.  Had to install SP1 and then  .Net Framework 4.6.1 as per AndyPC advice and all is working perfect now, very happy.  Such a frustrating issue solved.  Thanks.

Now that I have the colour DMD working I have one last problem to solve. The DMD keeps opening behind the directB2S backglass. I have to Alt-Tab to get it back on top.  I have changed DMDdevice.ini to "stayontop = true", but they still gets hidden behind the backglass? The directB2S backglass that is staying on top even though it's set to show the DMD.  If I start a table by clicking direct on the .vpx file the DMD gets hidden by the backglass. If I start the table again from the editor sometimes it will start on top, but not always. Any help would be appreciated.

No wonder there is a lot of questions about Visual Pinball and things not working.

Why do people believe that their cabinet machines should not be installed like a normal PC ? Of course a programmer expects that Service Pack 1 is installed.

Happy to hear that you guys resolved this, but, I simply are amazed how some of you treat your cabinet or desktop PC.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Thalamus, I had SP1 installed just not .net framework 4.6.1. My pinball PC like many here is in a pinball cabinet that is not connected to the Internet. From many years of experience in Mame and other emulation, Microsoft have a habit of releasing update's that break things. The latest being that their.Net Framework 4.6.2 offline installer that won't install unless your online!!!! All my Arcade Cabinet PC's are safer offline have been running perfectly for years. I do all updates manually so I can check they don't have any negative problems and rollback if necessary. I transfer updates via USB that are virus scanned on my main PC before they are let anywhere near my Arcade PC's.

Any ideas on how to get the coloured DMD to start on top rather than behind the backglass?

Not really pointing my fingers at you Andy. But, not having SP1 installed is beyond what I expected. Tracking down that it was Net Framework related was kind of a fluke I guess. I understand and kind of agree with all your saying Andy. Personally my cab is online but, I don't run any auto updates. I have a second computer where I do the updates first.

Thalamus as per what Andy stated with multiple emulation PC's i do not keep them online nor do i update for programs that are working flawlessly.  It is an approach of if it ain't broke dont fix it as per what has also happened to me in the past.

Only issue i have now is that VP9 and PM5 (vp 9.9.0) tables are crashing on exit if i enable external DMD dll in vpinmame.... it never ends.....

I wanted to solve the BadImageFormatException bug before releasing a new version, but looks like that's going to take some more time. Meanwhile people are getting crashes for stuff I've already fixed, so here's a build that should address the other issues you guys are having. Get it here:

https://github.com/f...nsions/releases

Let me know if you have any crashes. If you get the BadImageFormatException, let me know as much details about your setup as possible, namely:

- Does it happen only with VPM's setup.exe or only with vpinball.exe playing a game? Or vice versa? Or both times?

- What OS with which bitness are you running?

- Where did you copy the DLL?

- Post a log file

Thanks Freezy, great work 1.5.1 has no issues on my system.   On a side note for the virtual DMD (as a feature request) is there a way to render off LED's as a dull colour like pinmame does?

You're welcome! Not sure if I understand your question. You prefer squares instead of dots like VPM? Or is it a contrast-related problem? The colors should be the same as in VPM.

good afternoon all.  installed the programs on my 3 lcd screen cab and so far love it.  playing some *** games and really enjoy it. however i have a question.  i was wanting to play fg and in vpm roms list there doesnt appear to be the rom with a c at the end for any fg roms.  i went ahead anyways and tried and only about half the colors showed up so i must be doing something wrong, or, its not supported.  can anyone clarify what my problem may be?  also, are only roms with a c at the end can be modified for color?

Yes, your correct. For full colors, ( 16 colors ) the rom needs to be patched and the way it is named in pinmame is a c in the end of the rom name. For 4 color roms, the easiest way is to unpack a archive consisting of 140 or so color palette files to ....\vpinmame\altcolor folder.

Great job Freezy. DMDExt v1.5.2 has fixed my problem where it used to crash when using TEST within setup of VPinMAME.

Yes i believe it might be contrast related (not dots vs squares) my contrast is very high on my 3rd monitor for DMD use.  In pinmame this gives an effect of the bulbs being off for bulbs not switched on.  I was only throwing it out there as a feature possibility as i prefer your rendering method and look.  Thanks.

hi freezy, just trying to wrap my head aound what this is....

i believe i can now colorize my roms similar to pindmd but on my LCD computer screen. is this correct?

id like to give it a shot.

i downloaded the dmdext1.5.2 that you have linked to.

i am running XP, and i dont have a syswow64 folder.

am i supposed to create one, or can i put it in my pinmame folder?

i dont have an existing dmddevice.dll in my vpinmame folder either.

also, where can i get one of the rom sets you listed in the first post, like metallica, avengers, spiderman, so i can see if i can get it working before coloring anything...thanks/sparky

Sorry man, dmdext needs .NET 4.5 which doesn't exist for Windows XP. Maybe time for an upgrade? :)
