I could not get the same results turning on AA or FXAA in the console which is why I turned to other possible solutions. I started pulling out tweaks I have done for other games like Skyrim and Bioshock. It could have something to do with the AA Compatibility setting in the Inspector. I chose Star Craft ii Wings of Liberty just by chance. You are right though, its not a perfect solution, but could be a start.

Hardware FXAA works great in my cab, not sure where this "no one" is coming from.

Sorry, i meant to say noone but you :) :)

Seriously though, i meant noone. If you are running win 7 64 bit, have 2 monitors in your cab, am running both VP and FP with working BG's and have the latest drivers using hardware FXAA in VP (we really don't care of FP since FXAA works in it regardless) and have no jaggies or blurriness, then yes, you are the first!

Not running Windows 7. It's working just fine in XP32. XP is a crappy OS, but I really can't see any reason to run anything other than it for a cab build.

Just tested it out today. With FXAA enabled the graphics didn't pop like they used to ( inherent problem with FXAA in general). So I just enabled edge enhancement on my TV and it popped them back out :D. Over all the quality is OK. No as good as forcing 16 or 32xAA, but at least those annoying black lines are gone. I did notice some ball trails during ToM. Seemed to happen when flashers went off. Also worth noting I'm using an LEDwiz which I'm sure is adding to the stutter. Thanks for this addition. I'm going to mess with it some more. I may try disabling table flashers all together since I really don't need them anymore.

With nvidia inspector you can force ssaa too, which is even better.

I downloaded nVidia Inspector and I found where you can make changes to the antialiasing setting but which one should i use? There are like 20 different choices. Any ideas? I have a GTX 460.

If you force AA, you'll always have those black lines. SSAA (supersample), to me looks the best however, you only should try to verify which one satisfy you visually without much performance hit. I'm interested to know if someone with an AMD card can test SMAA with radeonpro.

I re-ask the question, hoping in some answers: can someone with an amd card test if SMAA from the utility "radeonpro" works with VP?

I've found that with certain settings from nvidia inspector, like AA_MODE_METHOD_SUPERSAMPLE_4X_FOSGAMMA the black lines are less visible

I hate to necro an old thread but I had to update my nvidia drivers today to fix a bug with Alien Isolation and in the process, I somehow lost my visual pinball settings and now I'm seeing "jaggies" on wire ramps.  Does anyone have the preferred anti-aliasing type of settings I need to put into my nvidia control panel for vpinball.exe?  Thanks in advance.

These are my setting with W7 ...

nvidia_t.jpg

Only others I have set not in picture are..

Texture filtering - Quality...High Quality

Texture filtering - Trilinear Optimization..On

Also be sure to turn off all the VP options except for the ball as those will just add blur and further reduce frame rates.

Thanks Steve, I'll make a new profile for VP.

For what it's worth, I'd rather just use what is native to VP and the video drivers rather than add another piece of software to the rendering pipeline which can cause stutter.  Thanks for the suggestion though.

Unfortunately, I see little to no improvement on the latest RBION night mod table (no offense to the authors) which either means the latest Windows 7 64 bit nvidia drivers are broken or VP991 isn't responding to the driver override settings.  The edges of the gold wire ramps look like stairs.  Is my logic correct here?

Well I no longer have a pincab so I'm playing in desktop mode in case that somehow matters.  Here is a JPG screenshot I made using the maximum quality setting in PS so with compression, it does look better than it does uncompressed on my 42 inch / 1080p television.  My pincab only had a 27" LCD / 1080p screen so maybe I'm seeing things now that were miniaturized back then?

I just want to point out that I'm using two GTX760 cards in SLI mode so maybe that's where AA is being broken in the nvidia drivers and single card users are getting the benefit of AA?
