Is there any advantage to using the GL version for a cabinet over the DX one ? Id like to just ask rather than mess around if there isnt, cheers.
Anaglyph 3D is supposed to be better in the GL version.

About DX vs GL:
Since I only have my portable pc with so I decided to test the GL version. I can get about 60 fps on my tables on this computer, but not all them reaches 60 fps.
So I decided to test the Gun n Roses table
Very nice table, btw
As all VPW tables ![]()
So, with the x86 DX version I get 45 fps when idle, and when playing it can go as low as 32 fps
With the GL x86 version I get 15 fps when idle, this is just the attract mode, and when playing it goes about 7 to 10 fps. The flippers have a huge lag, which makes the table unplayable. With the DX version the flippers are ok,
This portable has a nice cpu: Intel® Core i7-1065G7 CPU @ 1.30GHz and 16,0 GB of RAM, but it has a simple Intel Iris graphics.
But it is good for playing most of the tables.
So, use the DX version if you are using Windows and don't use VR.

Part of my problem with my cabinet i think was the Ryzen 5 4500 was bottlenecking my 3060 running at 2k a bit, seems much better now i replaced with a Ryzen 7 5700X.
With 10.7 the 4500 was great, but i get the feeling that 10.8 is far more CPU intensive as regards many new awesome recreations are being created, and upgrading is future proofing.
Some people spend on phones and tvs , i on my cabinet ![]()
You deserve a mega cabinet JPSalas, you are a master table creator, if i win the lottery i will buy you one.

JP Did you try GL in Window mode? DirectX is better Fullscreen but GL seems better in window.
My experience is the same.
All tables run well on my cabinet (Ryzen 5600, 16GB memory and GTX 1060) with latest 10.8 beta DX.
Many demanding ones (like from VPW) are unplayable with GL.
That is so weird as I have just the opposite experience. Try these settings.

I play in Window mode, since I spend more time editing tables than playing them. So I see a clear difference between the DX and the GL versions on my portable pc.
And I do not have a cabinet because, again, I spend more time making tables than playing them
And at home I have a nice computer which can play anything I can throw to it
(I7, GTX 3080, 32 Gb ram). But now, while on vacation, I only have my portable with me. I think the screen is 14" or 15", I'm not sure ![]()

where are the nightly builds? (google doesnt know and I dont see it listed on Github)
How to Download Latest VPX 10.8 Beta Builds - Visual Pinball - VPForums.org
@Toxie should add this to the front page
I keep downloading the latest gl beta and my bg keeps disappearing when I click on the table to launch. I have forms set to top and save settings. The cursor shows on the bg but won't appear when trying to move it to the playfield. I have bg and playfield on one screen on an old laptop. Directx beta will not render the table, so tried gl beta and it works besides mentioned problem
Ask @cliffie. he is using single screen with 10.8 as well, with BG, DMD, and PUP on 1 screen (but not on an old laptop)
Same here but i dont use the BG :-) as most scoring is on the dmd

I know you had tried dxvk in the past, but it has been updated. Maybe give it another try?

The GL Versions still do not allow other windows in top, - makes GL unusable for Desktop. Someone wrote that would be fixes with 1583, but still Backglass and DMD is behind whatever I do. No problems with DX Versions..The Playfield window behaves like FullScreen in windowed mode.

I was only using GL because DX was giving me some rendering some bad jaggy textures while GL wasn't. Then I learned I needed to check Alterative Depth Buffer Processing in Graphics Options, and that problem was solved and am happily running DX now without problems.
Does you use exclusive fullscreen or can you run VPX 10.8 in windowed fullscreen with ADBP checked without issues?
When I try the latter, some tables are rendered almost like a whitewood version (using DX 32-bit beta 5 r1347).
No such issues in GL it seems, but rather awful performance on the table I ran with that API.

I use exclusive full screen with ADBP and haven't run into any issues as of yet. I haven't tried windowed fullscreen, but can try it out. Is it basically the same thing as borderless?

As far as I know, yes.
Exclusive fullscreen is not an option for me, so at the moment I have to choose between "sawtooth" artifacts (no ADBP) and whole top layers missing (ADBP checked).
Fortunately not all tables are affected, VPW's No Fear for instance looks correct with ADBP activated.

This is weird
I updated the baller package to the latest update from here:
But the 10.8 one the default screens keeps going to monitor 1 even though in the settings there is a * in front of screen 3.
the 10.7 ones run just fine, it's just those 10.8 ones..
Is there a hidden setting somewhere that i missed?
I did the screen identifier, and that's not the problem.
