On github for VPX10.8.0 Beta 5 there are two x86 download options, one has GL in the title, the other doesn't. Maybe a stupid question, but what is the difference?

one is openGL, for VR use primarily

the other is DirectX

Question about these POV settings:

untitled6.png

In previous releases, the X-value and the Y-value were tied together so they would adjust together. So in Beta5, It appears that the z-value is now also tied so all three adjust at the same time. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I think this is a bad idea because a z-value of 100 makes my POVs spot on with my real pins, but I still need to tweak X&Y together. I really hope that this might be a bug.

So am I doing something wrong? Is there still a way to adjust X&Y together and independant of Z?

The window POV system has evolved to now include the Z adjustment (safe to adjust in the latest alpha builds). For anaglyph 3D it is best to keep the X/Y/Z values identical, otherwise things get badly distorted in 3D. For a regular cab POV after initially dialing the X/Y/Z values together you'll want to tinker with each value separately so it looks best from your personal viewing position. In my experience the preferred cab POV usually ends up with X/Y values within 10% of each other to better fill the screen, then I adjust the Z so the back wall, ramps, bumpers and other elements look natural from my viewing height and distance from the cab.

Thanks for the explanation. I am strictly a cab so I guess I just have to get used to it. Rats!

i don't budge the XY or Z scales from 100%

but yes you can, select them, then tap down one more time

Call me picky but i can see right away when Y and Y are not identical.

and even when kept even i dont like what it does to the table images.

If i need the table bigger, i adjust the FOV scale in camera
and in window i lust lift the front and back up as needed

If the table doesn't fill every part of the screen, too bad, tables are not 16.9

Ok, I'm giving up on finding my cursor (I guess that happens as we get older).... I found I can change F1 and F3 settings in the live editor.

What I need to know is: Where can I manually edit a specific table to uncheck use external DMD? I have it off by default, but I have 1 table (Topaz) that still gives the DMD error. Nothing happens when I hit F1 on THAT table only.

Where is the master VP file so I can edit it to fix that table? The equivalent to the B2S table settings.xml but for VP?

Hi itchigo,
Do you mean the check marks in F1 "show DMD/display window" and "use external DMD (DLL)" ?
These settings are stored by Vpinmame in registry
Hkey_current_user\software\freeware\visual pinmame\"romname"
As ShowPinDMD and showwindmd with values 0 or 1
If you have two different tables which uses same Rom, try to use an alternative Rom, older version, other language ...
So you can set different settings

Ok, I quickly tried this table (if you mean topaz by inder)
There is only one Rom available in Vpinmame: topazi
But I have no problem with it to uncheck both DMD settings, so the b2s uses and shows internal score LEDs and no separate second Vpinmame or freezy LED windows are visible

You can open the rom in VPinMame setup.exe using the Test option, and change the setting there.

Did something get changed in the physics recently. Updated to the latest build 15 something today. Now the working corkscrew ramp from the pinball magic table no longer works. I was on 1445 I think before the update and it worked.
Just wondering.
Guess I'll have to rebuild that.

There's an open ticket right now for balls disappearing into the plunger lane on most recent builds.  Not sure if it's related but there's something going on right now anyway.  Maybe related to the x-y-z changes they made?  I don't know.  But I would hold off on rebuilding that corkscrew ramp until this all plays out.

Thanks man. That was my project for the night, that corkscrew ramp.
Guess I'll start on something new.
Anyone know if the baby pac man game screen will display in vr?

Anyone know if the baby pac man game screen will display in vr?

if raw vpm display can show, then yes

if not, then maybe no :(

Actually i lie, sort of.

I can make a baby pacman table that guaranteed would have the display in VR

because the display would be part of the FSS backbox

but i dont know if FlasherVidCap would be fast enough to play the game latency free?

Thank you! I tried changing it from 1 to 0, but that didn't work. So I deleted the entry for that table entirely. Since my default was changed, it made a new entry and finally stopped giving the error.

Not sure what the issue is with the cursor but I don't care anymore. I figured out workarounds. I didn't just overwrite the folders, I actually switched them out just to make sure it was looking at the correct scripts.

I just stepped into VR world and I have strange issue - not sure if this is related to my setup or with Visual Pinball itself.

My setup - gaming laptop, Windows 11, Visual Pinball 64bit (GL) latest build. freezy, flexDMD, vpinmame - latest versions.

Normally, everything runs very smooth and VR experience is great. However, whenever external DMD (flexdmd or ultradmd) is utilized (e.g. VPW Game of Thrones), DMD is not shown in VR but only on desktop screen.

I tried enabling Capture external DMD in VR Settings but I get strange popup:

Visual Pinball Error: Failed to create duplication output

Same happens when I enable external DMD in VPinMAME settings.

What could be the reason for this?

I can, but that is a function of the PC, not VPX

so that entirely depends on how you have your PC set, and how well you have your vox trained, etc
