@Fisch :You have to turn off the handle option in dmddevice.ini to get rid of the 5 dots.

hidegrip = false <-- change that to true

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

So far, this is awesome.  I installed 0.1.4 today.

I am new to this, and so far only have two tables that use this.  Never had used UltraDMD, so FlexDMD is fresh install for this type of stuff.

I have the PinDMD3, so I set it up for JP's Pokemon and JP's Slimer.  I changed the resolution to 128x32, and it looks beautiful on the DMD.

Next pieces I'm gonna keep looking into is that Slimer still has the DMD showing at the top of the playfield still.  And the FlexDMD starts in my playfield each time, and I have to move it away.  But baby steps for this newbie.

Thanks again!

See the image then click file save

I would like to add if you are changing the color for a table, let's use TNA for example, you need to change the color, save, and exit VPX.  Going back in will reflect the color after the change is made.  I assume the exiting routine of something is wacko, but hey...it works for dummies like myself.  Here's the change to the TNA code to get that pink pink.

Sub LoadUltraDMD
    'Set UltraDMD = CreateObject("UltraDMD.DMDObject")
Dim FlexDMD
    Set FlexDMD = CreateObject("FlexDMD.FlexDMD")
    If FlexDMD is Nothing Then
MsgBox "No UltraDMD found.  This table MAY run without it (but why would you want to??)."
        Exit Sub
    End If
    FlexDMD.Color = &hFF00FF
Set UltraDMD = FlexDMD.NewUltraDMD()

"S...O...S"  /repeat

Hi, great job for this great software, I have a problem when I launch a table that uses flexdmd it closes 2 seconds after launch.

I have a virtual dmd

I think it might come from the visual studio. I'm not sure the FlexDmd.sln is set up properly.

thanks again

@tanck : I use the pre-compiled and have no issues. Even started using the dmddevice that the author provided.

The only thing you need is to run the *.exe and register, after put into vpinmame, like mentioned by author.

yes, that's what I did. I took the test. It all works.
example for the table that uses flexdmd as diablo it launches and closes after 2 seconds
It works when I'm not recording ultra high.
and she crashes as soon as I record it ultradmd.

Did you replace the script for Diablo ? Look in the scripts folder and then copy that file into the same folder as the table. Rename it exactly like the Diablo table. If it is called "Diablo v1.3.vpx" then the script should be named "Diablo v1.3.vbs". Does it still crash then ? If not ? Then after loading the table once - you can press save button and delete the *.vbs script file.

I tried this out on Diablo last night. Had a few false starts, but once I downloaded Freezy's dmddevice.dll and dmddevice64.dll and placed them in the VpinMame folder along with the FlexDMD files, all worked really well. I just reduce the size of the DMD for my desktop setup to suit, and play away. Well done to all for the the helpful insights posted here.

Cheers,

Nursie

I'm going to reinstall Windows this is the best thing to do I shouldn't have installed visual sudio I've screwed up everything with it will be more simple as you say it's very easy just 5 files to put in VpinMame and save them.  FlexDMDUI.exe and put the scripts in the table folder with the same table name.

I think @tanck is saying it crashes when recording in "high definition". I'm guessing @tanck is wondering why it crashes during "recording". Otherwise it sounds like it works just fine, but not when it is "recording". They don't specify what recording software he is having issues with.

Thanks, this worked.  Learning a ton about different aspects.

As a side note, I had two files of DmdDevice.ini, one in the main folder and another in a DMDext folder.  So I had to delete the one in DMDext folder and fix the one in the main folder for it to finally work.

Shit, I messed something up.  I tried on 1 of my "testing" cabs and everything seemed fine, so I updated my main pinCab.  Now I have move and changed things around so much (but learned a little) but now I don't have UltraDMD working nor FlexDMD.  I see so much potential for this though.  Will continue working on things to figure this out.

I had 2 locations for UltraDMD before which can't be good, but it did work.  I had \visual pinball\xdmd and \visual pinball\UltraDMD.  I removed the UltraDMD one.

Turned back off FlexDMD (love the simple UI) but when I try and run AMH I get UltraDMD not found msg.   I think it has something to do with DmdDevice.dll  (Using Virtual DMD)

It's the scripts that make the table crash. Even after reinstalling from windows.
