Okay I am seeing differences in the backglass between 10.7 and 10.8:

untitled4.png

Can someone please tell me why they look different? As far as I can tell, both are using the exact same "screenres" file, but clearly there are differences here.

Thanks

look for a conflicting screenrez file?

I am not sure how you have 10.8 set up, separate, same folder etc

vpx itself will have nothing to do with it since it does nothing more than ask b2s to start and tells it the table name

it does not know or say anything about the resolution etc

What version of b2s server are you running?

How do I determine this?

Oh, I dropped the 10.8 stuff in the exact same folder as the 10.7.

If you put it in the same folder then basically nothing changes (aside from the vpx version)

B2S should not be seeing any different stuff

DO me a favor

run 10.7

right click a backglass, on the settings screen click the button to edit the screenres and dont edit anything ,just copy the contents and paste here

then do the same thing for 10.8

i want to see if any screenres differences are present

Okay. Will work on it now.

This is what I see when I right click on the backglass on 10.7:

untitled5.png

This looks correct. Is this what you want for 10.7?

Did I miss something?

Something is amiss

I can see you are using scaling (10.7 not scaling aware but i think 10.8 is)

but your b2s installation is kind of old

h08IzUZ.png

I think it may have more to do with your screen scaling though?

Okay. I heard from a friend that screen scaling has changed for 10.8 vs. 10.7. Can you speak to that? Bet thats it.

Yes because if VPX changes how it is displayed on screen, it will affect B2S

See when you use scaling

200% turns 4000 pixels into 2000 pixels

B2S bases itself off of the reduced pixel count

When VPX is scaling aware, what it does is ignore scaling and run as if there was none, it is aware it is there ***
and flips the script so to speak

now B2S sees many more pixel

Is almost like changing resolutions

i bet is you set scaling to 100%

then adjust b2s

then turn scaling back on

10.8 will look fine

*** what i mean is, when vpx goes into full screen, it does so in a prescaling manner

and addresses all 4000 pixels not just the 2000 virtual ones scaling creates

Wasn't that changed so that you don't have to run your Windows scaling at 100%?  I only run one monitor these days so I'm not sure, but I know we had some discussion about scaling earlier in the beta cycles.

This is in the release notes :

the application is now fully 'DPI aware'. This means that one can use multiple monitors at different DPI settings.
This may require to adjust the position of windows on existing installs.

You dont

VPX will take care of running at 100% on it's own, which it didnt before as it was unaware of scaling

But since VPX runs without scaling affecting it, you need to turn off scaling a sec, set the b2s so things look right

then set the scaling back on.

Or while a table is running (one with no backglass, like a new demo table) open the b2s screen identifier tool on your backglass screen and adjust as needed, that should work also

You dont have to set the OS to no scaling, cause vpx will now happily ignore your scaling and do 100% for itself on it's own
which of course affects the b2s instance

hope i am making sense?

This is great info, thanks for elaborating. So am I correct to assume if you do the initial setup at 100% and then turn on windows scaling the 10.8 installation will work fine, but running anything in 10.7 or earlier will appear skewed?

Is this a bug on the spinner? Black part of the spinners is missing on the reflections. Look clear to me not black. The skulls is fine on the reflections. Sorcerer (Williams 1985) v4

Should be showing like a clear dark color box with skulls.

Does this reset work to fix text, etc on desktop backdrops as well?

Black does not reflect light, it absorbs it

The text should display as native, unscaled by windows, if that is what you mean?

If you mean will the editor let you change to font type and size of a textbox
No, that appears to still be bugged.

Even if they were set in 10.7 when you load in 10.8 they are ignored and revert to default font and size.

Yeah... that's what I thought.  Hopefully, that gets included in the scaling fixes eventually.

that isnt a scaling fix
that is just a straight up Yo yo yo, dis be doopid! kind of stand alone thing

VPX 10.8 saves the data

i can make a table in it, set the fonts, set the size

open it in 10.7, ignore the warning, look in editor

there is the font and size, launch it, there is the font and size

so it is saved into the table

but somehow 10.8 is totally ignoring that property on table display in 10.8

not a scaling thing, it not only ignores font size, it ignores the font itself, everything displayed at default font and size

but i do have a ticket open for that.

Anyone getting any tables locking up to where can't be close? Had to sign out of Windows in order to force close it. I couldn't get the table screen to go away as well. Task Manger hidden behind it.

For example. Cosmic (Taito do Brasil - 1980) v4 and Zephy (LTD - 1982) v4 will lock up on Windows 11 Home.

VP X85. Most of the X tables is fine.

Yes, Im on DX9 build of 1443 and this is happening to me as well.Ctrl Alt Delete does allow me to close the process though, but otherwise I just have the table left on screen and cant Alt Tab back to desktop.
