Could someone post the (fullscreen) POV settings? I can't adjust the camera at the moment.

Sorry, but this table does not use the rom to control volume.  This table used analog controls contained within the cabinet to adjust the volume.

You would have to use the procedure of adjusting channels through the PinMAME window to adjust the volume for this table.  That would mean:

- Clicking on the PinMAME window (DMD) with the mouse

- Pressing the tilde key (~) on your keyboard to open a white box - this would be the key to the left of the 1 key on the keyboard

- Using the up and down arrow keys, scroll through channels until you find a channel to adjust

- Using the left and right arrow keys, adjust the channel - left arrow lowers the volume, right arrow raises the volume

- Repeat previous 2 steps to adjust other channels

- When done, press the tilde key to close the white box

- Click anywhere on the table to return focus to the table

I also agree with hauntfreaks that you should make sure use sound is checked when the F1 form is displayed.

Hope this helps.

I'm not getting any music or voices.  I've tried this on my cab but didn't get any audio options.  I only get Overclock CPU, Gamma, and Brightness.  Use Sound is checked in PinMame.  I can hear ball rolling and plunger.  Any other options?

If I remember correctly
a problem similar to yours was due to the corrupted ROM, download the ROM again.

If that does not help, try changing the audio driver (VP audio options).

So here's something interesting for those having trouble with music and voices not playing with the hook_500 rom.  I re-downloaded it like suggested and grabbed the new version of the table.  Loaded it up with the hook_500 rom and music and voices were playing.  Figured I didn't need the hook_408 rom anymore, so I deleted it.  Loaded up the table to play again and the voices and sounds were not playing again suddenly.  So I dropped the hook_408 rom back in the roms directory and now I get voices and sounds.

So, I'm not sure how it would be possible, but for me at least, it seems that I have to have the hook_408 rom in the roms directory in order for hook_500 to play voices and sounds, unless I'm just missing something.

Does anyone else having problems have the hook_408 rom also?

Does anyone not having problems not have the hook_408 rom?

Just a thought...

This sounds like the hook_500 rom needs the hook_408 rom to work properly.

Sounds similar to the parent-child rom issues we had before.

Yes, I just downloaded this table myself and I didn't get any sound until I added the hook_408 rom.

Going through this table again, and just about every time I multiball I manage to shoot two balls into the center chute.  Only one comes out, and the other is playing the ball rolling sound as it falls to never never land.. it never comes out.   Fairly easy to reproduce.  Shoot the center chute, then shoot another ball in the same center chute before the first one is ejected.

Able to hit B and add a ball to end that ball, but the rolling sound continues until exit the table.

Anybody ever fix anything like this?   It's beyond my skill set.

Yes!  putting the old rom in place resolves the issue for me as well.   I should have started reading the thread from the end!

I couldn't find the Hook_500.zip ROM anywhere but I did find the instructions for patching the Hook_401 ROM to make a Hook_500 ROM.  Here's the link to the result and I have confirmed that it works with this table:  https://www.dropbox....ok_500.zip?dl=0

If you have a chance and it isn't too much trouble, would you consider compiling the 5.01 rom from this link? There appear to be some nice adjustments and bug fixes:

@javier1515

Hey @Javier, i recently stumbled upon the nFozzy physics tutorial and have been implementing it on my favorite tables including Hook. All the posts and sleeves are hooked up to his dampening filters and the flippers can do live catches and are much more sensitive for tap passes.  I also made a few more modifications:

1. I baked out an ambient occlusion shadow layer and multiplied it over the top of the recently updated playfield. (I left the unshadowed playfield in the image manager.)

2. I added the flipper sounds and routines from Theater of Magic 2.0 and new ball rolling and rubber hit sounds.

3. This is the big one: I Edited the soundtrack and extended soundtrack for Hook and replaced all the music from the Hook Sound mode 1 audio folder that’s available. There’s quite a few hand crafted loops and some layered call outs but for the most part I left the call outs alone. This goes in the ‘alt sound’ folder with Rom set to sound mode 1.

Anyway here is the link if you decide to include any of what I’ve done. No worries if not. I’m looking forward to the next release!

A while ago, I had implemented those physics and other details, but I never finished the work.
I have many tables with unfinished adjustments like this, but due to my father's failure recently I have spent much of my work in VP.

Little by little I am going back to my previous live rhythm and I will begin to finish these updates and new projects.

Thank you very much for your work.

"Learning without thought is vain, thought without learning is dangerous." (Confucius)

"Aprender sin pensar es inútil, pensar sin aprender es peligroso". (Confucio)

Please, if you can help me with a small contribution to update my work team and continue to make more tables I will be eternally grateful.

Confirmed hook_500 and hook_501 are in the VPinMAME source code so these mods are supported. They can be downloaded at VP_Universe whenever it is back online. Or if you can't wait, you can patch the parent rom hook_408 using the files at pinballcode.com. Links for the patcher are at the same site. It's not hard to do. Change the cgamename value in the script and it should be good to go.

I’m sorry, but this doesn’t sound simple. Does anyone have a link and/or have the Hook_501 compiled Rom they are willing to share?
