Just to kind of put this to rest, JimmyFingers in December of 2011 or 12 DID get Melon's approval to do a 8 step GI mod of Addams Family.

Maybe Jimmy and the team can collaborate and officially release the table, since JimmyFingers has private messages stating he has permission :dblthumb:  :dblthumb:  :dblthumb:  :dblthumb:

It was December 2011 around the time I did my first GI8 - Scared Stiff.  To be exact, Dec 1 2011, 01:27 PM when he gave me permission and Dec 7 2011, 12:14 PM when his follow-up said "Feel free to change whatever you want in your mod" :)

We'll see if we can combine our projects and if my lose timelines / limited VP collaboration time can work, but in any case, at some point there will be a MOD / update of this table ;)

This makes a lot of sense, though i'm a neophyte, I know if I had a slight miscalculation or bug I would be grateful for the repair, just credit me for my work and take yours for your contribution. Though that said, I hope you understand "melon", no disrespect intended, this is a community effort.

So following the logic here, if xgon gives his mod to jimmy, jimmy would be able to release it? Since he's got the joker card ("feel free to change whatever..")? Honestly, this seems a very bureaucratic approach, which is usually found at inefficient governments and not in open minded communities.

Noah, maybe you should have a look at the CC licenses for VPF? I mean releasing tables without any kind of licensing info from the author is asking for trouble. I would propose that authors must choose a CC license, which will then clear up any kind of modding or redistribution questions. Right now the situation is not very satisfactory.

on the website you linked to:

"Considerations before licensing"

Before applying a Creative Commons license to a work, you need to make sure you have the authority to do so. This means that you need to make sure that the person who owns the copyright in the work is happy to have the work made available under a Creative Commons license.

this could only be applied to original tables, which use only 100% original artwork/music

Well, that's a different issue and another source for endless discussions about who has the higher moral commitments. It's much more difficult to solve because the key people (i.e. the pinball manufacturers) don't seem to come in here and participate in those discussions.

The modding-permission issue however should be easier, since all involved parties are here.

another question :

does anyone have a good flipper setting

for me the real table plays much easier than melons table

you should be able to hit the bookshelf with the right flipper

anyone willing to share a good setting ?

this should be ok without violating any copyrights....right ?

Have you tried searching for 'addams family' in the search at the top? You can also make it specific to the Downloads section.

There are many to choose from ... Desktop, Full Screen, MODs, etc, so I'm not sure where to link you.

Jimmyfingers is working on a version that can be officially released.
His version will be top quality.
My mod probably will never be released.

¡Good news! I got an email from melon! He is fine, but too busy with life. He came today to the retrovicio forum (Spanish forum), he said he will come by here just to say "hi", but he is kind of lazy :), And the best is that he gives permission to anyone to MOD his tables!

So now can this Adams Family table be released :)
