first af all thx all you guys for your incredible work, you are amazing.

sorry if this post will be little off topic.

I have ultraDMD running fine in my pinball with freezy 1.8

I have registered flex DMD (1.5) but I never understand if it works fine or not, because at the beginning my ultraDMD was not working so I have reinstalled it in "ultraDMD" folder instead "xdmd" folder

someone told me that if I see DMD in jpSlimer all is ok, and I see it.

so what I want now is to have (if Possible) UltraDMD flex DMD (1.8) and freezy (1.9 for use it on future pinball).

are this version working fine together? or is better if waiting some week? my setup is 3 lcd screen.

If all is ok, can someone kindly explain a safe way to uninstall my (2?) ultradmd, my flex dmd and to upgrade all this stuff?

I'm little worried because at the beginning (1year ago) It was very hard and difficult to have all working and I don't want want to have a big software issues that will be very difficult to resolve for me.

thanks

You do not really need ultraDMD

you could uninstall it, and could also delete the XDMD folder

You can register flexDMD to handle all the ultraDMD stuff

Unfortunately UltraDMD will probably not be updated or optimized again, and has not been for quite a while
and it isnt open source, so no one else could really take over development of it

I have flexDMD 1.8.1 and dmd extensions 1.9.0 R24, and that is all

No ultraDMD, no XDMD folder, and i even removed Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\UltraDMD from the registry just to shed any old unneeded or unwanted
settings

Everything runs, does not matter if table was coded as flexDMD or ultraDMD, they all work with flexDMD.
But flexDMD creates a lot less CPU load, and the only thing missing is the gopher logo when the DMD starts, cause of course that was the ultraDMD mascot

Thank you @nailbuster, @vbousquet and @freezy - Now, being a pindmd3 user. I can finally get 100% free of UltraDMD with the new mp4 support.

Should make @khomodo, and a few others happy too :)

everything should be smooth and running with all the custom tables I know of (FlexDMD / UltraDMD).

This is probably not remotely what you or Freezy intend.
So i am not going to go sticking a how to anyplace

But this is what your guys' work can do
And bear in mind, this is captured on a machine that can barely keep the table timers in order (and failed a wee bit at that due to the load of the video capturing)
So image quality isn't so good, the table timers kinda fail a bit in a few places but..

Pay attention to the thing that looks like a PUP pack
It is not a pup pack

FlexDMD GIFs and Videos will not load after the first time running the table, or they won't load right at all. I'm trying not to cringe while coding scenes for my next upcoming FlexDMD table, but here are the GIFs I'm trying to use in question:

17izcj3.gif

vFyeyBL.gif

zviGvsg.gif

nGaPGbk.gif

d1A7QoX.gif

Whenever I use the last one in particular as a background, it just shows up as a black background and not an animated fire background.

I even tried reloading VPX, reloading the table, and reinstalling FlexDMD.

What do I do?

Can someone please help?

So, what you are saying. They ARE working the first time ? Are you closing the flexdmd cleanly on table exit ? And, it is working after reboot ?

Never mind, I figured out the issue...

Turns out I was reusing the same background video actor across multiple scenes, which caused it not to render on all of them.

It's all fixed now. Thanks for your time.

FlexDMD is such a great extension and I'm glad I am able to use it for my original tables.

I already have one posted to VPForums and I have another one on the way very soon.

Once again, thanks for your kind response and suggestions.

Hi.

I installed latest version 1.8.0 and now when I start PinballY Flexdmd is started showing the table name, stadistics, etc. So, how can avoid that?

Did you copy the PinballY scripts from the FlexDMD repository into your PinballY Scripts folder? Because that is a completely optional step; it integrates FlexDMD with PinballY. If you delete the files from the script folder (main.js) it will stop doing that. You likely had no scripts for PinballY to begin with, I assume.

I am having trouble getting FlexDMD to work for me and am looking for some guidance. I am primarily testing with JP's Ghostbuster Slimer table so will use that as an example. Here is the state of where I am at:

1. My system has a PinDMDv3.

2. My version of Visual Pinball is 10.7.0 beta, revision 169.
3. I have FlexDMD installed and, from the "Flex DMDUI.exe" program, it appears to be working correctly. The dialogue box shows all four check marks as green in the first tab, the install directory as "C:\Visual Pinball\VPinMAME" (this is my VPinMame folder). The version for FlexDMD.dll and FlexUDMD.dll are shown as 1.8.0.0, and the version for DMDDevice.dll and DmdDevice64.dll are 1.8.2.0. When I navigate to the other tabs of the "Flex DMD UI.exe" program, I can run the various tests and see the test outputs on my actual DMD display for all three of the test tabs.

4. I have used a file search utility "Agent Ransack" to find all previous versions of DmdDevice.dll and DmdDevice64.dll from my system and have deleted all of them (moved them temporarily to the recycle bin for now).

5. I am running Version 3.0.0 of JP's Ghostbuster's Slimer table. The release field of the table info dialogue box shows this as release date 01.04.2021, followed by "Thu Apr 15 23:56:33 2021 Revision 8".

6. I currently do not have the additional table script for the slimer table from the Flex DMD github site installed in my tables directory, as I believe the latest version of the slimer table shouldn't need this. But I have also tried with that table script installed and it made no difference.

7. Normal tables (Monster Bash, etc.) that use a DMD work fine on my system.

When I attempt to run the slimer table, I get the following error message popup, and the table doesn't play: "Line 2115. Object required: 'FlexDMD.NewImage(...)'.

I'm sure I'm doing something stupid, but am not sure what to try next so I would really appreciate any suggestions here.

@CyclonePF : No, I don't think you've done anything stupid. You've made a very good debug, explaining your thought process to fix the problem and I read it line by line saying Check inside me. Right now I don't see why this would happen for you've seems to have covered all the spots I would ask you for. Been ages since I tried that table myself. Have pindmd3 too, so, I will have a peek and see if that happens to me too or if I can come up with something else to try. Right now. I can't come up with something obvious, if it isn't as obvious that us both can't imagine it ;)

Update : Downloaded the lates 3.0.1 of the table, I have FlexDMD.dll & FlexUDMD.dll at 1.8.1 - DMDevice & DMDDevice64.dll at 1.9.0.10. Green all the way and FlexDMD replacing UltraDMD. Table starts without a hitch - or does it bork during play ? I didn't start it, wife is in bed. I have the updated FW for PinDMD3 1.0014 if memory serves me right.

I would recommend that you get the versions above and try again. Unregister, reboot, then register, try even rebooting once after that. This is a stupid suggestion but I can't see from what you told me, what you've could have done wrong.

Can you tell me if you are able to run america's most haunted, or heavy metal, or starwars bounty hunter?

The error you give, it means flexDMD did not start, will it start on any of the tables i mentioned?

And if you have JP's newest slimer, which i think he made flexDMD native, make sure you have no old slimer scripts anywhere near the table

Hi.

I installed latest version 1.8.0 and now when I start PinballY Flexdmd is started showing the table name, stadistics, etc. So, how can avoid that?

Huh?

That is not something flexDMD shows at all
Post a screen shot of what you are talking about

That sounds like a PinballY thing, not a flexDMD thing?

I found the reason. FlexDMD includes a script for PinballY that do what I mentioned before. It is called "main.js", editing it and you will see what I say:

/*
Custom DMD screen script that shows informations on the selected game (more or less the same than PinballY) using custom medias (animated company logo, table title screen):

- Shows image/video from the 'dmds/manufacturers' subfolder (hardcoded in the script)
- Shows image/video from the 'dmds/titles' subfolder if they match the media name of the table
- Shows highscores
- Shows statistics

Thanks anyway.

Thalamus - Thank you for the help - I got it working now! I started to follow your suggestions, by first just updating the Slimer table to 3.0.1. After the upgrade of the table, I tested again, just in case that alone fixed the issue without having to do the other steps. And, to my surprise, it worked. I can't explain why just upgrading the table fixed it, as nobody else had seemed to report this problem. Perhaps it was the fact that I had shut the system off this afternoon and rebooted it tonight to try your suggestions that made the difference, as I hadn't rebooted after some of the earlier steps of deleting old dmddevice.dll files, etc. Or perhaps I had corrupted my earlier version of JP's Slimer table somehow. I need to try with some of JP's other tables (Serious Sam, etc.) now to see if I can get those to work too.

By the way, I was hoping you would be one of the people that read my first post about this issue and reply, as (although you probably don't remember) you were able to help me years ago get my PinDMDv3 to work when I was first starting out with virtual pinball. So, thanks for providing help with your DMD expertise once again. For some reason, the DMD part of virtual pinball has always confused me. The various DMD options and the DLLs needed for each option, and how they can conflict with each other, etc. has always been confusing.

Wiesshund - Thank you for your suggestion as well. I do have America's Most Haunted, and that runs fine on the DMD. I probably should have mentioned that in my original post. I was unsure whether that was using FlexDMD as an Ultra DMD replacement, or was somehow using my old Ultra DMD installation.

One more update on my issue...

Serious Sam wasn't working for me either. I just re-tested, and it still wasn't working. So I downloaded the latest version and installed it, and that worked.

So, I suspect that, several months ago, when I was first trying to get both JP's Slimer and Serious Sam tables to work with FlexDMD, I may have tried to replace the scripts in the actual tables with ones from the Flex DMD github page as an experiment. If I did that, I probably screwed up both tables. I don't recall for sure, as I struggled and tried a number of things and finally gave up until this week when I decided to dig into the issues again. I probably left both tables in a messed up state at that time some how from my various experiments.

Anyway, thanks again Thalamus and Wiesshund. All is good now.

Happy to hear that your resolved your issues. I however recommend that when you want to make changes to table script and test something. Why not keep the changed script in the tables folder while fiddling ? You know that if there is a vbs file there, named exactly like the table it will replace it on table loading - right ? If you mess it up, delete your vbs file and you are back at start.

Open cmd prompt ... write : c:\visual pinball\vpinball.exe -extractvbs <tablename>

Easiest way to extract the original text/script with. Just something to consider at least :)
