Yeah, I did get the B2S resolved so that is all good now, though I don't think I've loaded the 64-bit stuff yet. Haven't run VPM much in 10.8 yet as I've been mostly testing my own tables on 10.8.

 

 

Only oddity I am getting on 10.8 now is something I'm not sure I can fix. It has to do with my plastics along the edge of the table. This is on my in-progress Zone Fury table

The edges on the plastics appear white on 10.8 when they should be a solid dark gray where the plastics are3 over the edge of the table itself.. The plastics are fine in 10.7 (I've run this in 10.7.3 and 10.7.4, and all the plastics are the dark gray like they should be), and I've tried everything I can think of to fix it in 10.8 but to no avail. I don't know if it's something in 10.8 or if I did something I did wrong that 10.7 didn't pick up but 10.8 caught...So unsure how to fix if I even can.

If you mean where plastic overlaps the side wood?

Yes that is fixable, no it should not look like that, but i would need to see the table, JP will possibly know off his head.
I am thinking it is maybe a material issue but i would need to see 1st.

I am betting JP knows right off though.

I'm not sure what it can be, but the reflections are much stronger in 10.8. I guess I should need to check the table to be sure what's wrong.

I had opened a trouble ticket at one point, earlier on, about reflections being strong and looking white-ish.  I think they closed it saying everything was normal.  I have just turned off reflections since then, but if someone more technically inclined than me can find a specific problem that would be great.

Hi

 

Under "Keys, Nudge and DOF" i use "Override Default Button Layout" i alle other version of Visual Pinball X

But in 10.8 beta 5 this function does not work.

 

Can anyone else confirm this and maybe have a workaround.

The SBS 3D stereo is not working on VPX 10.8 OpenGL x64 v1347 version. Only one of the sides are active and the other one is always in black. DX version is working as expected.

is anaglyph mode working for GL? I'm unable to test GL as my ancient integrated GPU doesnt support it.

 

No, it isn't, at least in this beta version. Table appears only in red.

 

Thanks, has anyone put in a bug report at github as yet? I'm yet to hear of someone successfully using the inbuilt 3D of VPX 10.8 GL, and unable to test for myself unfortunately. Vincent has mentioned that the GL inbuilt 3D should be superior to Reshade/Depth3D method but I've been unable to confirm.

Edit: I wonder if some other setting needs to be enabled to render the second eye viewpoint?

It looks like it was indeed material settings. I'm playing with the settings and I'm getting better results...it'll just take some fine-tuning at this point to get my plastics perfected for 10.8.

check  if material is metalisized or not, it may make a difference as well

I tried 10.8 with both of my VPX tables (Hextech and Crazy Cats) on my 10-year-old desktop. They both run pretty well in 32-bit, though the B2S backglass always appears regardless of whether or not the Disable B2S checkbox is checked. When Disable B2S is checked, it never brings up the DT reels/displays like it is supposed to., It tends to crash on the live editor when I try to exit it and resume game but doesn't give me any sort of error. VP just completely exits.

 

The playfield reflections are more pronounced in 10.8 which is a pretty cool effect.

 

On the 64-bit,; the B2S backglass does not appear when Disable B2S is unchecked, and when it is checked, the score displays/reels on the DT backdrop will not appear. I've seen this on both tables.

You probably dont have your B2S Server up to date, as the problem does not exist for me.
If you are going to run 10.8 make sure you have vpinmame and b2s server all updated as well.

Just wanted to chime in here to congratulate the team on the new POV view engine. Even though the readme notes indicate that its a work in progress, in particular with "some distortion at the back of the playfield/screen" I'm actually seeing the most dramatic improvement in that exact area.
 

Before view "legacy" POV (best POV I could achieve with 10.7.3 tweaks):

Hey I upgraded to beta 5 GL. Ive tried it a few times and never have success. These are my issues
1) I have no table focus when the table starts from popper. No problem navigating in popper. I have to run an external program to get focus.
2) I can run about two tables before popper just crashes. Ill play a table, exit, play a table, and then upon that exit, popper vr never restarts again and popper itself just closes.
3) sometimes no controls work whatsoever, the table will exit to popper but then no buttons presses work, not even on my keyboard. Its totally locked up.
Id love to stick with this latest build as the only build Ive ever had success with is the (603) 32 bit one. No focus or quitting issues.

Any advice? Im kinda going nuts here lol

Hey folks, so I searched this thread and other areas, so apologies if this was answered elsewhere, but I could not find it.  Upgraded to 10.8 Beta 5 and am struggling with sound but only on some machines. Specifically I'm only getting machine/playfield sounds.  

 

AC/DC works fine, but things like Gilligan's Island (and many others) I only get machine sounds no music.  I have under audio selected "Surround Sound (All Effects to Rear Channels)".  If I switch it to 2 channel I get everything again but that's not how I have my cabinet set up :-).  If I revert back to 10.7.4 everything again works like a champ.  This is true in both the 64 and 32 bit versions (both 7.4 versions work, but neither 8.0).  I'm running PinMame 3.6, roms tests load find, paths seem correct etc.  Note, I have tried the other surround sound configurations with same results, but my cabinet just as Front and Rear.     

 

Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried 1362 to see if there is any difference?
