I'm not good, I just remember all the mistakes I made trying to do fading lights the first time.

he he....

Okay, Had a real good run last night and finished off the rollovers and most of the lights. Also worked on the plastics and am almost done, just a few more tweaks to get it better.

I am still having an issue with the SW53's (X 3)  and SW64's (X 2). Maybe it is my lighting order, but i am pretty sure i matched BD's PF images and lights so it should be working as everything else seems to be working.

So for the 5 SW's that are star rollovers, i am not sure what 'handle' to use for the lights.  So Hmueck, I notice you used the NFade for all the main lights. How do i know whether to chose NFade or FadeL or whatever. That is what i am clearly missing in my mind's logic. Once i understand that i think i get it :)

So currently i have this:

Sub UpdateLamps

    'FadeL 13, l13, l13a
    'FadeL 14, l14, l14a
    'FadeL 15, l15, l15a
    'FadeL 16, l16, l16a
    'FadeL 126, l126, l126a
nfadel 1,l1
nfadel 2,l2
nfadel 3,l3
nfadel 4,l4
nfadel 5,l5
nfadel 6,l6
nfadel 7,l7
nfadel 8,l8
nfadel 9,l9
nfadel 10,l10
nfadel 13,l13
nfadel 14,l14
nfadel 15,l15
nfadel 16,l16
nfadel 17,l17
nfadel 18,l18
nfadel 19,l19
nfadel 20,l20
nfadel 21,l21
nfadel 22,l22
nfadel 23,l23
nfadel 24,l24
nfadel 25,l25
nfadel 26,l26
nfadel 27,l27
nfadel 28,l28
nfadel 29,l29
nfadel 30,l30
nfadel 31,l31
nfadel 32,l32
nfadel 33,l33
'nfadel 34,l34
nfadel 36,l36

FadeL 1, Light1, Light1a    'Rollover 1
FadeL 2, Light2, Light2a    'Rollover 2
FadeL 3, Light3, Light3a    'Rollover 3
FadeL 4, Light4, Light4a    'Rollover 4
FadeL 5, Light5, Light5a    'Rollover 5

Now, I chose FadeL for these rollovers because i see BD used similar for his rollovers, but i am not sure why, so if someone can explain, i can finish off, i think... h0pefully my ignorance will assist someone else as well :)  I also made 2 lights for every light because i see in BD's table 2 lights for everything...so do i need these 2 lights? I already made PF images called Lights_ON, Lights Ona, Lights_Onb, Lights Off.

Thanx guys!!

Maceman

ps @ Hmueck- the reason the ABCD's looked so light is because i had the images save incorrectly. I think i save the on and off with the ABCD's ON in both, but have since fixed and can see them, finally :)

I am still having an issue with the SW53's (X 3)  and SW64's (X 2). Maybe it is my lighting order, but i am pretty sure i matched BD's PF images and lights so it should be working as everything else seems to be working.

I don't see a "fade" command for light sw53aa/bb/cc etc. in the WIP you sent me or in your post, but two lights for light #1?!
By the way: when i look at table videos on youtube and at the recreation of Genie in The Pinball Arcade: those rollover button lights never turn off.

So Hmueck, I notice you used the NFade for all the main lights. How do i know whether to chose NFade or FadeL or whatever.

NFade = non fading light. The WIP you sent me had only lights_on and _off images. No "fading in" images. NFade will turn the lamp on and off only.
Fade = fading light. You need four playfield images for that with light1 and light1a in the editor. Once you added the fading on light images, you can change the nfade to fade commands.

Now, I chose FadeL for these rollovers because i see BD used similar for his rollovers, but i am not sure why, so if someone can explain, i can finish off, i think... h0pefully my ignorance will assist someone else as well :)

You can use the FadeL for everything as soon as you have the four playfield images.

I also made 2 lights for every light because i see in BD's table 2 lights for everything...so do i need these 2 lights? I already made PF images called Lights_ON, Lights Ona, Lights_Onb, Lights Off.

Fading lights basic concept:
Normal VP lights can be either ON or OFF. Fading light routines have been created to make the light behave more like a real light bulb, which isn't ON at once, but gets brighter and brighter relatively slowly. To emulate this "getting brighter slowly" you need additional images of the lamp. It starts with the "light is OFF" image, next is the "light starts glowing a little bit" image, then "light is a bit brighter" until "light is ON".
Because lights in VP can only be ON or OFF, fading light routines use two lights. One light is used for the "OFF" and "light starts glowing a little bit" images. The second one for "light is a bit brighter" and "light is ON". The "fadeL" command handles the two lights by cycling through the three steps to make the light brighter slowly.

Example from another table: left is OFF (L47 OFF image), second is "glowing a bit" (L47 ON image), third "a bit brighter" (L47a OFF image), last "ON" (L47a ON image).

A Humongous Thanx to Hmueck who has really helped me to get a better handle on these darned lights :)
I can now move forward to the final touches of aesthetics to get this how we want it, and then we'll stick a fork in it :)
Thanx man! Everything seems to running pretty good.

Thanx once again all!
Okay, I think I am pretty much done what i CAN do. I have more ideas and can sit on this table for ever, but it is time to let it loose.
If anyone else want to continue with it to improve, I am happy from my end to see that happen.
I may look into GI lighting which would be superb on this table, but not today. I only have so much strength these days- he hee.
I'll try to see if this goes to FS in a day or two. My guess is there will be some minor changes to make this FS, but i wanted to get a desktop version done for those waiting:
geniesnap20.png
I'll upload this shortly, once i finish my morning coffee :)
Cheers,
Maceman

EDIT: I think i will wait just a bit longer because i forgot about the rolling ball script which i forgot to get going. I still will try to release today! If anyone CANNOT wait, PM me and i will send you this as a placeholder :)

Very nice lighting and I like the attention to detail with the little nuts and screw heads. Nice work, can't wait to try it out.

great job maceman!!!

you could strech apron a bit to the right - you see that it is not centered below same player shoots again sign and you see big hole left of the ball

you should align it with wooden rail above plunger
