All dB2S backglasses can be edited when the editor is finally released.

Why do you believe that all new dB2S BGs will be low-res? Mine are from (well, only released one so far :)) 1600*1080 to 1920*1080 depending on the images I have to work with. Going higher than 1080*1920 is pointless though, if a couple of users have ultra high res monitors they can easily edit the backglass files.

Oh, I don't believe that all new ones will be like that, it's just that a lot of the initial ones coming out from the "new" designers are using pretty low rez, and often badly compressed or compromised images. I agree, no point in going higher than 1920x1080, but I do prefer all my backglasses to reach that rez.

Leaving aside "functional" backglass animations (scores, SS spider, CV cannon) I'm always going to prefer a a nice crisp high rez static shot over a lower rez animated one. If I don't have to choose between them then great! When the tool is released maybe I'll release some of my own if I'm going to be that picky though. ;)

And it's not hard to work with Chris' backglass collection, they're just backlit, it's nothing a litle color correcting and white balancing can't fix to reach an initial neutral state.

No, there is an option in the backglass designer to import the directb2s so you can edit it without the b2s project file.
Click on File, "import directb2s backglass file".
Make your changes and then generate a new directb2s and copy it to your tables folder. Quick and easy.

I'm hoping that when the tool is out that it will be possible to swap out the image used for the animations, I hate to give up my 1920x1080 backglasses for low rez images just for a little animation. My setup has no problems with that rez. :)

Unfortunately, you would need the B2S project file to open it up and change images and I have only downloaded a few of the backglasses and none of them have included the project file in the zip.

Awesome, I really need to start reading the manual. :) Thanks LTA.

I have the Taxi direct to backglass installed and it is great looking and goes with the table gameplay 100% perfect,  I do get stutter from time to time running that backglass it seems to be sound related.

I am running my backglass at 1920x1080, so this might have something to do with it, but it works great for 99% of the tables at 1920x1080 for the backglass and the playfield, my DMD is 640x480 16bit

so much fun and lots of settings to test with this software

If you get any stutter with directb2s, run the backglass in .exe mode, it will help getting rid of performance issues.

Click on the backglass with the mouse, then press S on the keyboard, and select the .EXE pushbutton. Save your settings and restart the table.

When I try and press the S to get to the settings, it jumps to the next file that starts with S and nothing else.

I must be missing something.

This has to be done during gameplay. Click on the running backglass with the mouse and press 'S'.

I could have easily missed this but, is there a way to make 'start in exe mode' the default for all?

Performance data point: First off, I'm running a slightly underpowered rig to start with:

Dual Core Celeron 2.6 (not overclocked)

nVidia gts250 (1GB) w/ 2 1080p screens

2 GB ram

32-bit XP pro

Driver version 182.5

directb2s works perfectly on most EM and SS tables. Most DMD tables introduce slight ball tearing/ghosting. I've tried the graphics settings at both Performance and Quality and find the gameplay is best with high quality settings. This tells me I am bottlenecking at the processor. I have implemented the standard directB2S performance tweaks of starting in .exe and frames settings.

Thank you for these. It's not a big deal to downgrade to a static backglass once I have captured the beautiful backglass image that directb2s provides.

No complaints (besides my crappy hardware). I am looking forward to new releases.

Sorry, right now the default is always not-EXE-mode. Added it to my ToDo list.

What is the benefit to not have exe mode exactly?

Would it be possible to have the option showpindmd visible/hidden like the grill, dmd?

I saw you talked about it in the history log but i expected to see the option, don't really understand what has been changed about it

Actually, what would be awesome would be an option to direct the real DMD to a path instead, so you could point it at a text file containing a DMD logo (like you can right now with Hyperpin). Then you could load a game logo for the DMD rather then just have it go dark, and keep the scores on the backglass. :)

Good Idea. Infact, it would be good if you can look for two files.

First look for table logo (so you can make custom table name logos the wheel art to display and has same name as description in Hyperpin) and if there isnt a file with that name then look for default logo.

Well the default logo is already working, i tried to showpindmd to false with pinbot, (because i couldn't remove the bg score in the d2bs), and i had my custom logo displayed during the game

Hello, I went to use the b2s server last night. I am on Windows 7 64 and have the correct .net framework installed and am using version 1.01 of the server. Also I put the files into my vp tables directory. When I run B2SBackglassServerRegisterApp.exe as admin I get the error "Cannot create activeX component". I know that ICPjuggla was having this issue but did not see that it was resolved. Does anyone have any ideas?

Also I tried to find the unblock option as detailed in this post but did not see it. http://www.vpforums....e=9#entry200109

I'm just locating "regasm.exe" of .NET framework 4.0 and calling this for 32bit and 64bit to register my dll.

I expect the framework at "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319". So these are the commands I'm executing.

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\regasm.exe "B2SBackglassServer.DLL" /codebase

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\regasm.exe "B2SBackglassServer.DLL" /codebase

Maybe try to run these commands one by one in a DOS box. Don't forget to start this DOS box as Admin. What's happening?
