Hi All!

Are any updates required to enable DOF when upgrading to VPX from 10.7.4 to 10.8.0 (beta 4)?

When I upgraded, I used a file comparison tool to identify changed DDLs and scripts, and copied any changed files into my VPX installation directory.

I then renamed the primary executable to "VPinballX64-10-8-0.exe", and copied it to  my VPX installation directory.

I just tested AC/DC as it makes the best use of my DOF Devices. DOF works fine when running 10.7.4, but does nothing when running 10.8.0.

Thanks for your help!

DOF does not directly use VPX, it uses B2S server.
But you might try renameing VPX 10.7.4 to vpx-10.7.4.exe and rename the vpinballX64 to just VpinballX.exe

BEAR IN MIND!!!

If you run vpx 64bit then B2S server will run in 64bit (provided you have a modern build of B2S Server)
and VpinMAME will also run the 64bit version.

I do not know if DOF has both a 32 and a 64bit version, if it does you have to match the bitness of the vpx you are running
Or use 10.8 32bit

If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

I just upgraded my main PinCab Mobo and GPU.  I have adaptive sync running and its of course rock solid 60 fps, but I want to see how fast it can go. New settings are confusing me, How can I unlock sync and see true fps (just to see num as I like to run 60 fps as my 4k monitor is 60hz)

anyone have settings to uncap it completely?  I tried a few but they ran like 2 fps (seriously did)

PS: new install has no issues with my right flipper now, yeah!  I love a clean install of windows :)

Thank you!

I checked and the old version I was using was 32-bit. So I'm pretty sure that running the new 64-bit version was the issue.

I tried following a guide I found on YouTube for installing the 32-bit versions and 64-bit versions in parallel, but things quickly fell apart as the guide is out of date.

I'll keep everything 32 bit until I have the time for a full upgrade.

Hi guys,

I rarely play in 2d anymore and got everything working in VPX 64x and 10.8 however, using re-shade  the 3d effect really flattens out.  So for now, I'm putting aside the 10.8 tables and/or playing them in 2d.  Any idea is there is a work around or an update in the works to get that amazing depth back in 10.8?

3d is mesmerizing in 10.7.3!   Guests are blown away.  Using the blue/amber glasses with each table adjusted for brightness, etc.  WoW.

Thanks in advance!

Holy Carp! I hadn't heard of of this before. I've already ordered some glasses.

I'm trying to keep my expectations in check, as I know it can't be super accurate without eye tracking. But: Oh-Boy! Oh-Boy!! Oh-Boy!!!

I'm experiencing an issue with version 10.8 of the software. I'm unable to display anything above the playfield, which is causing problems when trying to use PinVol or access the DMD menu (F1) and the table options menu (F6). Has anyone else encountered the same issue?

If you are in ex fullscreen those menus won't show over the pf.  You just have to switch to windowed temporarily.

I was wondering about this same thing as using the F1 menu is so much harder in 10.8!  Is there a keyboard combo to switch to windowed mode and back?

Hi, I've just installed the 10.8 beta 4 (32 bits). I've decided to stick at 32 bits for the moment.
I can't play Big Bang Bar (last VPW version) : The game launches then checks several times before returning an error on the DMD "Alien lock malfunction - Motor bad". And then impossible to launch a game.
Of course I'm using the nvram file available with the table.

I have no problem playing the game on 10.7.3 final.

Could you play this game on 10.8 beta 4 32 bits ? Thanks.

That one is 64 bit only

I can play it on 10.7.3 32 bits just by setting Max texture dimension to 3072.

Found another use of the table specific ini file settings.  On table

World Cup Soccer Minimal VR Room (Bally 1994)

has the wrong scale for some reason.  I had to change

ScaleRelative = 1.9

from 1.0 in the default ini file.

Works great, thanks devs!

Is it OK for bug reports here. Or maybe I'm just dumb.
I've got an apron primitive. I have it set to static rendering, disable light from behind, but the insert light still shows through the apron from underneath it. I can post a ss if necessary.
I'm assuming the disable light from behind should eliminate this problem?
Or is there something else I need to set to fix the issue. Any hel0 is appreciated. And if ss are needed let me know.
Thanks

Hitman asked me to update my vp9 gorgar table, so I'm completely rebuilding it. I was in the middle of a rebuild of my old pinball magic that Roth finished as well. Completely rebuilding it also. I prefer jps physics so I'm doing both tables with those physics and cutting down all the scripted lighting and workarounds that we used to use which are now vp10.8 features. Wasn't planning on releasing them as there are decent versions already available for vpx. Unless hitman tells me it's worth releasing an an improvement to what's available.

Hey unclewilly... there's lots of bug reports here, but they don't seem to really get noticed unless you open a github ticket.  If you do that, they seem to get looked at pretty quickly... but it's really up to you.

Thanks. I'll see about putting it on the github unless I figure out it's just user error

Here is the screenshot of the issue. You will see the insert showing through the apron primitive. Also a screenshot of the settings for the apron.
If someone sees an error in the settings, let me know
Otherwise I'll reportit on github.

picture too small, cant see the editor part of things, so unsure.

would it be possible to link a test copy of table to look at?

I can see the transparency issue in that screenshot.  I have one table where the entire apron is invisible.  Not sure if it's a related issue but its Rolling Stones by HiRez.  Are you on the latest build Unclewilly?
