Frame Pacing option should work better on GL version, even for cabinet mode?  DX version with frame pacing is giving me problems on multiballs, but GL version works better.

Testing out lastest 1312 build with VR and b2s is working very well again for me, yeah!.  My issue is I can't seem to quit out of a table that is launched with PinballX if I don't disable b2s in the options.  If I have it disabled everyting works fine, but if I enable I can play the table, but when I hit the quit key (from PinballX) screen goes black and I hear a ding, and I don't get back into the PinballX table selection menu.  Very strange.  Any ideas how I can help diagnose this issue?  Thanks

PS. I hope everyone who has access to a VR HMD has tried VPX in VR, its totally incredible!

Hi Slydog43...I don't have VR yet but it's on my short list of wanted toys.  Just to clarify your current issue for those much more wiser than me...if you run a table directly from VPX with the B2S enabled everything works.  Correct?  The issue is only when you run through PinballX.

Yes, running straight with VPX working fine (great job).  Having issue exiting VPX when I hit my quit key in PinballX.  I hear a bing.  Will check the logs to see something and try running PinballX as admin too.  Just thought I would through it out there as it all works fine with b2s disables with and without PinballX.  Getting so close.

If it is a PinballX issue, maybe ask the pinballx guys.
I use 10.8 gl (vr) for a couple of months with pbx and didnt have issues. Didnt try latest release yet.

I will ask over at pinballX also.  Its strange though as its tied to running b2s server and GL build of VPX.  I never have issues like this on my regular cab just VR one.

here are a few lines from pinballx log, it quits no problem from SS machines like banzai run, its only EM machines, that is why I think its VPX GL somehow.

13:07:35.75  7/7/2023:  D:\Visual Pinball\VPinballX_GL.exe /play -"D:\Visual Pinball\Tables\Banzai Run_VR (Williams)(1988)(SS)(Sixtoe, Acronovum, DJRobx, WalterWhitmer)(1.0).vpx"

13:07:45.26  7/7/2023:  Exit System Control Pressed
13:07:48.42  7/7/2023:  Main display running full screen windowed.
13:07:53.24  7/7/2023:  Launch System

13:07:53.49  7/7/2023:  D:\Visual Pinball\VPinballX_GL.exe /play -"D:\Visual Pinball\Tables\Bank Shot_VR (Gottlieb)(1976)(EM)(Rajo Joey, Loserman76)(1.0.0).vpx"

Bank shot fails to return to PInballX for some reason.

Three weeks later this time, here we go for the 4th beta: https://github.com/v...inball/releases

The main changes are the following:

- New 'Frame Pacing' mode that try to keep the input latency very low, while keeping the framerate stable

- Support for per table ini settings ovverride

- Windows 7 is back to fully working

- Full rewrite of backglass and DMD capture for VR that should be more stable and have lower performance impact

- Fix broken halo lights on JP's table (and others)

- lots of little fixes everywhere

YES!, using newest beta 4, my issues are GONE.  This is great, thanks magical devs.  I can launch EM b2s's now and exit cleanly with PinballX.

What is this Frame Pacing mode and how can I find out more about it.

Thanks, vbousquet... you all have obviously been putting in a ton of work on this lately.

*edit*  I had placed a question on github about the per table .ini, as far as the directory and file naming for those.  Should it be in the tables directory, or the appdata directory, and name the same as the .vpx file?

II never thought about putting them in app data, I tried and put them in the tables dir and it worked fine.  I was wrong that you do need the whole ini file and not just the setting that you want to change from default.  I will have to play around more but it does work perfectly to change VPX from exclusive mode to non-exclusive mode just for 1 table, works great.

Weird... I tried this and it seemed like it was working with nothing in the table.ini except the setting I wanted to override.

*edit*  Did you try it with this complete format? (commented line not necessary).

Is there a way to set the default Player X/Y/Z settings for the system vs having to adjust it on each table when switching to Window layout mode?

Yes, yes, yes. Working fine for me under windows 7. Legends whoever sorted that issue out.

On a side note. The only issue I had, once loaded, was I had to reassign keys through the GUI,

Great work team!

Woohoo!! Thank you so much! :otvclap:

Has anyone else looked at the build 1322 with the primitive depth mask changes?  I've been looking through tables with more complex primitives and it does seem to make them "pop" a bit more.  Is it just placebo, or anyone notice the same?

I'm experiencing an issue with version 10.8 of the software. I'm unable to display anything above the playfield, which is causing problems when trying to use PinVol or access the DMD menu (F1) and the table options menu (F6). Has anyone else encountered the same issue?

If you are in ex fullscreen those menus won't show over the pf.  You just have to switch to windowed temporarily.

Hi All!

Are any updates required to enable DOF when upgrading to VPX from 10.7.4 to 10.8.0 (beta 4)?

When I upgraded, I used a file comparison tool to identify changed DDLs and scripts, and copied any changed files into my VPX installation directory.

I then renamed the primary executable to "VPinballX64-10-8-0.exe", and copied it to  my VPX installation directory.

I just tested AC/DC as it makes the best use of my DOF Devices. DOF works fine when running 10.7.4, but does nothing when running 10.8.0.

Thanks for your help!

   - Mark
