@imgema:

This is interesting, let's investigate what is going wrong. This is a comparison between the old screenshot and the one I made yesterday when releasing (right side is the new one):

comparison1_t.jpg

So on my cab the quality is the same. At first glance it looks like you are using an older beta of 10.6 or before, since the playfield is quite dark.

Potential issues:

- did you change anything after downloading? Like day/night, environment emission image, LUT settings, etc? If so: please redownload and try again the table unchanged.

- Are you using the latest 10.6 beta, at least version 3751? If not, please download and unzip whole file on your visual pinball directory.

- Are you using SweetFX or something? Switch it off to try.

- Are you using tweaked color settings in the nvidia or AMD control panel? With gamma or something? please return to default to try.

I do see graphics issues on the genie which I have not yet seen before. Could you give some information, like:

- What is your graphics card?

- What settings do you have in the visual pinball video/graphics options? (screenshot)

- what is the "output dynamic range" in the nvidia settings (or equivalent for AMD)? IT should be "full" and not "limited"

Thanks a lot for the response.

Of all the questions in your post, the one where i was doing it wrong was the Visual Pinball version. I had 10.6 beta so i thought it was the latest but apparently i had an older build of that.

I updated it and the table now looks brighter, which is good. Table still looks somewhat red-ish/orange-y for my liking and a bit washed out and when the lights dim but using the LUTTotan3 preset somewhat improves the contrast so it's the best default IMO so far.

For the record, i have a GTX 1060, using "full" dynamic range always and didn't change anything on the table.

Again, thanks for the help.

wow, thanks for such a beauty, this table looks and plays so great its amazing.  I really hope Randy Davis sees some of these new tables on a 4k pincab to see where how his baby has "grown up".  Devs and table creators are the best!

I've been playing some Oculus quest Pinball FX2 with Pinstubby and its pretty good (actually incredible for running on android with all the lighting and 3d objects like the shark).  Can't wait to show this off to people.

Agreed, Slydog. Randy Davis would be proud. VPX is a constant marvel, thanks to incredibly talented dev teams. I can’t believe how much fun this community has been over the years. TOTAN is true cause for celebration, among so many great releases this year.

If some of you are still looking for a more color neutral look (less orange so to say), I made another LUT specifically for that which will be in version 1.1:

luttotan0_t.png

Import this png image with F3 into the table with the name "LUTtotan0" and add it to line 37 in the script; like this:

replace "luts = array("LUTtotan1", "LUTtotan2", <etc...>"

with

luts = array("LUTtotan0", "LUTtotan1", "LUTtotan2", <etc...>

Very nice table, looks and plays perfect! Nice work! Thanks!

Just a little request: Any hope to get a full backwall image? :blush:

@aubrel: I am not sure what you want, the table already has a backwall image?

Thanks to care. Yes it is but the top of the backwall image is cut. It's not a big problem but It would be even more nice to get it full and be able to show it complete.

Anyway thanks again for your hardwork, this table is really beautiful ! :otvclap:

@Aubrel:

This is because it is so on the real table as well:

23_g_t.jpg

331b4f9da323422da64243dc166935ab1d9fc91f

And it has a benefit for all cabinet owners: all our screens for the cabinet are 16:9 dimensions (length:width), while real pinball playfields are more longer (totan is more 20:9). Because part of the length is now "shoved" underneath the backbox, the view is better in proportion in the cabinet.

Thanks @flupper1, this "more neutral" LUT made a nice difference on my cab. I think Blacksad's B2S blends better with it as well  ;) I can also relate to what Imgema mentioned regarding the grayish blacks, especially evident during GI on/off transitions. I think this is very much dependent on everyone's hardware and software configuration and varies greatly from user to user. There is a huge difference in how my Samsung playfield TV looks versus my desktop Asus monitor. As such I took your LUTtotan0 and darkened it further 10% to help my Samsung monitor get rid of that washed out grayish-black effect. I'm very happy with the result. If anyone is interested here is the darkened LUT:

Incredible everything! :otvclap:

Were the lamp gear motor DOF commands (lines 1125 and 1127) intentionally commented out? I kind of notice the gear is not really in sync with the lamp if I let that code run. However, I see you changed the code there too. So, I'm a bit lost trying to figure it out. Just FYI. Gear synced well on previous TOTAN tables...I think.

Thanks to all involved!

Does it make sense to have the gear there? since the lamp doesn't move by itself, the ball is making the lamp turning, there is no real motor involved.
It is an open question

I would prefer to add the new lut to the end of the array. Then, our "starting lut" (our fafourite) would stay the same. Just my two cents.

Yes, they were intentionally commented out as the lamp is free spinning and the gear did't feel right to me.  I left the lines there commented out in case someone wanted to add them for their setup.  I'm guessing that when you say the gear isn't synced it's because it looks like the lamp has stopped but the gear continues to run.  You can try to increase the cDiscMinSpeed variable to see if that helps.

The following should do the trick.

Const cDiscMinSpeed = 5

Just shows you how good Pro Pinball was back in 1996.  This is doing the exact same thing that was done 23 years ago.  God only knows what Pro Pinball games would look like today had they continued with another 23 years of development.

Not only gods: it would probably just look like this ;)
