So the latest update has introduced a basic fix I pointed out for the Deluxe tables... they weren't cabinet ready out of the gate as the PostDMD video display could only be displayed on the playfield screen, which meant you had to leave the HUD on for all tables. While they haven't added true three screen support yet, they have moved a copy of the video screen to the backglass screen (thereby making it possible to play on a cabinet with the hud turned off), and enabled being able to choose which monitor gets what, so you can move the playfield or backglass to whatever monitor you want. I mentioned it would be nice to be able to put just the video screen on the third monitor for the DMD, but at the least they managed to get it to where a cabinet can run the tables without breaking the immersion.

Thanks for the reminder about Zacc deluxe tables. I always seem to forget about those. I’ll check them out.
If any of you guys have the means to check out Zacc in VR and haven’t yet done so, it’s totally worth the price of the VR version. Really great stuff!

Resurrecting to let everyone know, the last update broke multiscreen support for just about everything BUT Time Machine. As in, it will crash to desktop attempting to play tables. The fix is promised for the next update... dunno if it'll be an update just for that, or when they release the next Deluxe table.
I'm personally holding off on purchasing the latest Deluxe table (Combat Deluxe) until it's fixed. If the fix takes until the next Deluxe table (this last one was three months after the previous release), I might have to consider no longer purchasing Zaccaria tables; I already have a large amount of tables on my cabinet, so it's not a big major deal to stop buying tables from one source. And note that I wasn't allowed to run on the cabinet without actually applying the update, which was majorly annoying to me because I'd already heard about the issue.
Update: i went ahead and took the entries out of PinUp Popper for the Zaccaria tables for the time being - being able to see them and not play them unless gimped would annoy me too much. If the fix isn't until the next table release, then it's likely that I won't reinstate them on the cabinet, it won't be worth the frustration to me at that point.

And I had to dig to find any communication at all from them about the issue... mostly on Discord (apparently, I'm not seeking it out now to subscribe just to find this out, I shouldn't have to) and Facebook (which I can at least manage to see), not on the Steam page where they should be focusing the support. And it looks like from those posts that they'd prefer to add some bug squashing of the "not breaking use cases" variety, so it'll have been broken a month or more by the time those of us with cabinet see a fix and can play properly again.
The next time I fire up the cabinet, it's probably going to be uninstalled, and I'm not purchasing any more of the DLC for it. Which is sad, but I'm too busy to throw money and time at a company that won't at least use the correct channels to inform people where they're at.
EDIT: And it's been uninstalled from Radiant Silverball now. I am fairly annoyed. I'm going to need to make sure I have the VPX builds of Zaccaria tables installed over the rest of the weekend, and that should cover the most important tables except Time Machine. I may install the old VP9 Time Machine just to have it available.
EDIT: Thanks, Noah, for editing the thread title for me, since I can't personally recommend the software right now.

And with the latest goldchicco release of Time Machine, I don't need to reinstall the app to play that title, which was the only one that worked on the cabinet after they broke it.
Also, it's been a whole month since they broke multiple screen support. I'm calling it, clearly none of the people at Magic Pixel have a virtual cabinet, so they don't know how much lemon juice they pour on the cut when they say that "playing it in single screen" means that it works and they don't need to prioritize the fix. Part of why I was buying the DLC regularly was because I could (and would) play it on the cabinet.
Note: I'm warring with whether or not I uninstall it on the desktop too.

Well, that is a shame that a commercial product is going to use facebook and discord as their official means of support
and also apparently ignore an issue of their own creation.
I was about to become a hero and give you this
https://www.vpforums...&showfile=15536
but then i see that you already found it, so much for the hero thing LOL
If i was selling a commercial pin sim product, the last thing i would let my dev team do is break cabinet use.
I dont care if none of us actually had cabinets, there would be a couple of them on site, and everything would get tested on those as well as desktops
before it went out the door.
Otherwise, i may as well yank a hunk of cash out of my wallet, and throw it out the window.
If you feel the need to empty your wallet in my direction, i don't have any way to receive it anyways

That's certainly what it feels like. OK, I get that Steam's forum system has really bad controls, no good way to moderate, and is otherwise broken in less than useful ways, but all it takes is having someone do a drive-by post of, "oh, hey, we're aware of the problem," that would have made a big difference.

According to one community member, they've been told that cabinet mode "isn't a priority", but then, atGames is supposed to have this available on their commercial pincab thing, so that really makes me wonder.
And all testing would take isn't even a full cabinet right now, since the only support they had was multiple screen related... just set up a computer with more than one screen, with backglass active on another screen, that's the way my desktop was set up and that also crashed to the desktop.
But yeah, they definitely lost me as a customer with this. Could I have handled it being broken? Yes. Could I have handled a wait for it to be fixed? Yes. Could I handle basically being told through a third party I was expected to run in a gimped single screen mode because that qualified it as "not irretrievably broken" and that the fix could wait for some other things to happen? No.
My husband made a comment that I apparently don't suffer fools lightly.

I worked for a game dev
we released the game on steam, as well as independently
we had a constant presence both on steam and on our own site.
Everything that went out on our site got relayed to steam, by hand, in real time.
And steam users got their questions etc answered and if they had issues, they got hooked up with the support team.
And that was from a small indie game dev
So really no excuse or pity for them there

Trust me, if my product was a pinball sim, and i see the cabinet thing going on
There would be at least 1 "Cabinet" on site, with all the standard things available
Which i would consider 3 screens, analog plunging, physical feedback DOF, and multi speaker.
And my rule would be that it must work on that, and leverage as much of that setup as possible, or at least provide hooks for the 3rd party software developers
to use so that it can be made work (Cause i am probably not going to write addressable LED controllers etc into it)
Why?
Because at the end of the day, i am making this product to make money.
It does not matter if it is a product i really really like, that is just a bonus.
Bottom line though is, that is my paycheck.
Why in the hell would i sabotage my paycheck?
"Hey, would you like an extra 20k a year?"
"Oh, no thank you"
Said no sane person ever
When there is enough market for virtual pinball machines that commercial manufacturers can sell them for thousands of dollars
and people buy them, and even mass production novelty companies have gotten into the act with making little fixed platform machines
marketed through high volume retail outlets like walmart and target, it really is not a trivial thing to break your product working on that platform
nor something to casually ignore.
Unless you are staffed by morons.

Yeah, 5 1/2 weeks later, they finally have their external social media guy chime in on the Steam thread.
Too late, the window for me is closed, it's not going back on my cabinet, and no more DLC is going onto my account for that software. I have enough to keep me entertained with the rest of my Steam library that hasn't broken cabinet support for weeks with an update. I'm not even sure I'm going to keep it installed on my desktop at this point; I can pseudo-cabinet mode with it, but why should I when I have the cabinet downstairs, and they'll only break it again in the future anyway.
This will make my cabinet curation project easier, because I don't have to worry about that 100+ tables going forward; I have the ones of the actual Zaccaria production that I really do want thanks to Visual Pinball, and again, those won't break cabinet support with an update.
Posted 04 April 2021 - 04:38 PM
And I've heard that fixing cabinet mode is considered to be asking for something for free. I paid good money for DLC based on being able to run it on my cabinet.
It came off my desktop, and my phone. I'm probably going to remove it from my Steam library entirely.
Edit: And we edited out the mention of it in the "status of the virtual pincab" video that we're releasing on my YouTube channel in two weeks.
I was livid. As in, into angry enough to swear and then out the other side with no time for more than one "...the fuck." We edited it out rather than record any pickups or anything because, for better or worse, the rant, clean or not, would NOT have suited the overall tone of the channel. In general, I'm taking the Billy Mays approach, and just not giving them that airtime because I don't believe in the product they're hawking.

Fresh update: Removed Zaccaria from my Steam library outright. I also removed it from my phone software library outright.
I've decided that I'm also done for a while with commercial pinball simulations.
The last pack for Pinball FX3, that was going to have the Mandalorian, before they move to the new engine and a year exclusivity on Epic? Not buying it.
Steam has been told to Ignore all the pinball I have there so it no longer will reflect in my recommendations for other games.
For the foreseeable future, I'm only following Visual Pinball and some smattering of Future Pinball.

OK, someone was kind enough to post that there was an update to the software on Discord.
New table, and the fix to cabinet mode (if you can call it that now, I won't, it's just a Multiple Monitor Mode) rolled into that, so content clearly trumps bug fixing.
So, two months of no cabinet support at all. Still no Direct Table Launch. And pretty much I take all this as further evidence that I'm just not in their target market, and I'm treating it accordingly; it's not being reinstalled anywhere, and no more purchases.
It was a hell of a run, but again, I'm finished with the Commercial Pinball Simulators for the time being, and my future criteria will be pretty strict. Even from Zen I want to see better cabinet support than what we've gotten, like proper feedback support, before I reopen my wallet.
Posted 14 September 2021 - 03:25 AM
Yeah, they added direct command line selection of tables for front end use to Zaccaria fairly recently, which helps immensely with cabinet integration. I reinstalled it on the cabinet a couple of weeks ago, although I'm still not buying DLC at this point. The new backglass options are helpful, but I really want them to have true support for three screens. And analog nudge with the controller of my choice (read: Pinscape). And feedback device support.
Apparently some folks from our community are in talks with them to let them know that, hey, whatever else we cabinet owners might be, if cabinet support is done properly, anyone who's passionate about cabinet building isn't going to necessarily turn up their nose at a commercial product, and it can help be guaranteed sales. I only stopped buying DLC because they broke their minimal cabinet support for two whole months, and really weren't communicative on the service they sell the DLC on.
