It literally never starts, not just at Windows startup. I just bumped this thread because it seemed almost linked.

I’m now about to make a bit of a tit of myself I think, but I don’t have directoutput 3 running...think I foolishly misse that very first step!

Gonna go see if that’s installed and if not try again!

Right, i'm hitting brick walls here. So I didn't have DirectOuput 3 installed (I wrongly misunderstood what DOFLinx was and thought that was also installing that).

Now I have it installed, DOFLinx will launch fine. However setting up DirectOutput 3 is being a right pain and I'm going round in circles...

All I want is to make my directoutputconfig.ini file but I can't for the life of me figure it out. All the documentation sends me to the DOF ConfigTool to set one up for my cabinet, but all I seem to ever get is directoutputconfig.zip files containing DirectOutputShapes and tablemappings. The only files I seem able to create are XML files, no where can I see a simple "Generate directoutputconfig.ini".

Note - I have 0 LEDwiz "stuff", i'm only aiming for B2S setup for FX3 :/

EDIT - Urgh, So if you don't assign any ports it doesn't include the directoutputconfig.ini file. Thats not super obvious :/ - So got hte config,DOFLinx now goes a step further and now errors saying "Error in configuration for  left flipper trying to set device to 1 Needs to be in the range 1-0"

Has far as I know if you don't have any hardware that DOFLinx is looking for it will not work

Hmm k, I was lead to believe I could set this up "just without LEDWiz support" just for the animated B2S backglasses for FX3?

Wait for DDH69 to charm in, he would be the expert on it and the maker of the software

I know this is an old thread, but i had the same problem and I HAVE A SOLUTION:

make a batch file in the folder containing doflinx:

Cd C:\directoutput
Start c:\directoutput\doflinx.exe PATH_INI="C:\directoutput\doflinx.ini"
Close

Make an elevated shortcut to the batchfile.
Press "windows + r", type "shell:startup", press enter and copy the elevated shortcut to the folder.
Restart windows...enjoy.

Just as others in the thread have had issues with getting doflinx.exe to run upon windows booting up, I too am having issues. I have tried everything that was suggested in this thread and others not here and still no luck with getting it to start when windows starts. I have tried creating a task schedule to start doflinx.exe upon startup of windows with admin rights, no luck; even set it in the registry to start, no luck. So I thought the batch file way would work, no luck for me with that either. Running out of ideas to try and get the exe to run upon startup of windows. I am using windows 10 pro and uac is turned off, but currently in the ini file demo=1 is what I have set for testing purposes of course. Anyone with some direction or help with this would be awesome, as I am at my ropes end with trying things "hoping" it will work.   :stunned:  :whtflag:  :throw:   Thanks in advance

I just took a leap and upgraded to windows 10, I wanted to try my Kinect 2 with BAM and needed sdk 2 which needed the operating system upgrade.

Initial problems have been;

1.If a startup item is set to admin then even though its correctly setup and in the startup folder windows 10 ignores it, if I take admin rights away then all programs start ok on boot.

2.Some programs ignore my keyboard encoder, joy2key has each button mapped and recognises when I press each button but many programs ignore it,

Pinballx ignored the keyboard mapping but let me map as a joystick.

3. Kinect 2 is on and working, I can see myself through it with the developer program. BAM recognises Kinect 2 but calibration fails.

I think windows 10 latest updates are messing things up with program rights.

Frustrating!

Update

1. Nearly sorted by adding to registry directly. The programs now start at bootup when in 'run as admin' mode.

Prior to this Windows 10 just ignored my shortcuts in startup folder if they were run as admin.

DOFlinx does autorun at boot but errors out on not finding.ini . Need to look at this more.

2. Sorted, now that the program runs as admin, it's seen and adhered to by other programs.

3. Sorted, reinstalled BAM. May have missed off kinect options when I first installed a while back.

I had the same issue with doflinx not starting with windows 10. You need to create an elevated shortcut. I just did it yesterday and confirmed it works.

https://winaero.com/...-in-windows-10/

There are a lot of steps and it was over my head so you can take the easy route like me and just download winaero tweaker and use the elevated shortcut tool to make it a little easier.

I am running Windows 10....

The UAC is turned off

I have tried this on two different computer setups... If I put a shortcut in the start up folder for the DOF to run continuously in the background and is set to run as administrator when I boot the computer it never runs in the background...

if I turn off run as administrator then it works fine... Of course then the program won't work the way it should

Try this Solution

Download and unzip into the same place you have DOFLinx.exe

Then right click and drag it to your shell:startup folder, then click make shortcut

attachicon.gif DOFLinxWindowsStartup.zip

Hi All

This solution worked perfectly for me with DOFLinx.

I looked at the batch file to try and understand it (which I dont).

I want to do the same thing with PinVol.  I can get PinVol to open on startup.  I was hoping one of the smart people out there would be able to modify this batch file to suit PinVol.

Now that DOFLinx will run without admin

With the latest DOFLinx there should be no reason to run any program With admin, So putting a shortcut in the windows 10 Start up folder should just work

See the guide that comes with DOFLinx

UPDATE: 7/13/2020

Now that DOFLinx will run without admin (Version 7.00 and higher)

With the latest DOFLinx there should be no reason to run any Pinball Related Software As Administrator (Admin)
So putting a shortcut in the windows 10 Start up folder should just work

See the guide that comes with DOFLinx

with this bat file and shortcut of it, are we to still run DOFLinx.exe as Administrator?

There should be no need to run any Pinball Related Software As Administrator (Admin)
Including DOFLinx.exe   7.xx or hihger
The bat file is not needed Just use a shortcut

ok, will do. I was having troubles with it loading yesterday, but I will try to run it not as administrator and use a shortcut to DOFLinx.exe in the startup folder.

Another question, is it still necessary to add a INI path in the startup shortcut Target line, as per the image below? I'm assuming not, since the INI is in the same folder as the EXE, right?
