Hello, I am following the Installation instructions and at one point it says to keep track of the types of tables i.e. VP8, VP9, VPX. So can I create a Tables folder for each by copying the Tables folder and renaming it VP8 Tables, VP9 Tables and VPX Tables or should I just create a subfolder in the Tables folder for each? I do not want to break any links in the setup Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome!

I wouldn't recommend copying the existing Tables folder and renaming it, as that can lead to duplicate files and make things harder to manage later.

Instead, I'd create separate folders alongside the original one, for example:

C:\Visual Pinball\Tables\
C:\Visual Pinball\Tables_VP9\
C:\Visual Pinball\Tables_VP8\

This keeps each version's tables nicely organised without affecting the installation or breaking any links. I'd leave the default Tables folder for VPX, as that's what you'll probably use most of the time, and use the VP9 and VP8 folders for the older tables.

Hope that helps, and enjoy the hobby! If you run into any problems,

Your question cannot seriously be answered with a short answer. You haven't mentioned which frontend you are using. And you have several VP- versions mentioned,

From the perspective of VP alone, the location of the table files does not matter, since VP (or VPX) is launched using the full path to the tables.

While the directory is listed in the registry for VP9 and VP10 versions under `HKCU\SOFTWARE\Visual Pinball\...\RecentDir`, this is irrelevant because these entries are updated with the specific table's path every time a table is launched.
You can have any number of VP table directories. However, there is more to know. I do not want to dive too deeply into this topic here; for more information, please consult my documentation in the cloud: https://mega.nz/fold...AXZlOEMQGbdutQ.
VP9 and VPX store their configurations at different locations: VP uses the registry, and VPX uses the `VPinballX.ini` file located in the user's AppData directory.
Then there are add-on programs such as B2SServer, `ScreenRes.txt`, and DMD.

In this case, it is advisable to install (or move) B2SServer and its associated files in a separate directory rather than in the table directory.
