A good VPX table to test nudging is JP's AFM table. He have the UFO programmed to move with nudges, so try to find his scripts in the table for ypu to compare.

Hope this helps!

Here is the PM5 nudge table converted over to VPx . I cant get the balls to move. PM5 version works nicely - left & right, up & down.

How does this table react for others? - if there is something wrong with this VPx conversion let me know.

https://drive.google...iew?usp=sharing

(I am talking analog nudge - pushing the cabinet around :-) ) - the nudge works fine in vp9 & pm5 - so I dont think it has anything to do with the drivers/ windows config etc.

I redid the VPx nudge table .. added a bit of flare to it :-) See if you can nudge the balls thru the labyrinth.

ok... After some calibration I'm here...

- playing vpx I have a different feeling, surely I have to adapt to new methods (physics and nudge) but some important things changed from vp9. In vp9 (cause my cab confit) with 27% in deadzone and 750 x and y gain I had perfect ball nudge and no nudge defect (due to vibration of contactors and shaker). Now I have 22 deadzone, 520 in gains, and 8 in x and y max but I have to force little bit more to let ball nudge... It's not so perfect like before.... Some hints?

- in preferences--> keys --> x max and y max.... What are they used for? Acceleration?
... I'm becoming mad

Can someone please describe what these nudge settings do:

  • X-Max

  • X-Gain

  • Y-Max

  • Y-Gain

  • Accelermeter rotation

nudge_t.jpg

Also how do you disable the table image shake when nudging. Certainly dont need this on a cab.

Thanks

You could disable image shake with nudge in video option: put 0 in value field.

If you have analog nudge accelerometer (like Freescale or sidewinder) you have to set a deadzone (mine is 22) otherwise shaker vibration are taken like nudge from accelerometer and ball goes everywhere when shaker moves.. It depends how you mount your accelerometer in cab if you have a normal mounting orientation or maybe it's rotated. X and y gain are the values let you increase the nudge, This are important because if you like me have an high deadzone ball couldn't move with small nudge (remember the deadzone).

The y-max and x max are the reason I opened this thread. Since one month of vpx release (and beta too) I have no idea what they need for... And I couldn't do a correct calibrations of nudging.

PLEASE ADMINS OR VIP MEMBERs, if someone of you read the post could be so gentle to explain us or maybe contact mjr that give us some explanation? It's really frustrating tune values without sense and don't know what are you doing

I'm with you. I have been trying to get nudging to work and have not had much luck, Hopefully we can get some answers!

Thank you very much for the Test Table!

Thank you!! One small tweak in DIView set everything back to normal.

Note:All that was needed for my system was decreasing the Cen: option from 512 to 510 in the Y-Axis settings.

Thanks again!!

In diview all looks stable and working correctly when I fire up the test table the balls immediately roll down. I have played with dead zone in VPX and nothing changes this behavior. Anyone have any ideas?

How did you set this that high? When I try to change settings in diview I can only go from 0 to 255.

Test table slope is at .5 I changed it to zero so I can test my settings. Which btw is getting very frustrating!

Still no explanation for these. I have spent dam near all day messing with nudge values and still don't have it right.

I'm pulling my hair out over this! I have nudge working but when in use my flippers (contactors) the ball goes all over the place. I upped the dead zone to 60% but then I can't even nudge the ball! Maybe it's where I have my sensor positioned. I have a board going across the cabinet just inside the coin door so the sensor is up closer to my hands, maybe I will try and mount it on bottom of cabinet instead. I guess I would then have to deal with the bass causing false reads!

My sensor (a Freescale was in plunger kit v2 of vpin) is under the contactor of right flipper and 10cm close to the shaker... And it works without problems. Every time you edit the deadzone you quit and open again vpx? I remeber in vp9 values weren't token from vp9 until you closed and opened again vp9. I don't know if in vpx something has changed for this but I suggest to quit/open vpx every time you change values for deadzone or x and y gain

I have a zebs plunger sensor and I will try to exit the editor as you suggest. I have been just exiting the table not the editor itself. Thank you I will give it a try.

Never try with Zebulon plunger.
Umpa I wrote to close and open vpx not to exit only table. Try

umpa did you try with restarting vpx after changing value?
