Hi VPF! Within the last month I have been working on table editions. I came across several videos of Hanibals TWD Blood Mod. Instantly I was drawn to what appeared as rgb cycling. I thought this looked amazing on the table, and promptly got it loaded. Everything works great, for the exception of the rgb lighting not cycling.

From what I can tell mine stays mostly red (which at first made me think it was normal. As I played I still couldn't replicate what everyone else was playing. None of my lighting was doing an RGB color cycle. Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding what this mod is capable of. I've tried everything I can think of. VPX standard+GL 64, and 32bit. Updated VpinMame and VPX to current stable non betas. Script had a GI option which changed the playfield night to day via blacklight, all the lighting scripts state RGB. I've tried different Stern rom sets. Tried v1.2, a 2024 vpu patch, and the latest v3.0 Bigus mod of the table. All do the same thing. Almost a solid red around the whole table. I can't figure this out!

I have over 200 tables running to perfection, but this has me absolutely stumped. I have a few different that have RGB cycling working just fine. TRON, Time Machine, etc. I know it can't be the script or table itself. What could I be missing? Day or night cycles don't make a difference. Flipping the GI option off doesn't fix. Please if someone knows why this ONE table is giving me hell on its best feature... HELP! :)

Windows 10 64b
I7 9700
32g DDR4
RTX2060
2 Screen set up - D1 2160x3840 60hz portrait playfield, D2 1920x1080 144hz landscape backglass and DMD.
Video = 2160x3840 portrait, Force Anistropic, AO Static, Reflect Ball + Static no sampling, FXAA Standard AA.

THANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO CAN MAKE THIS TABLE LOOK LIKE I ALWAYS SEE IT!

Maybe Take a Look about the "cgamename" of this table, and compare it with the dof config ini at dof online configurator. Perhaps you have just to Update your .ini's ?

Digitalalarts, I will look into this and see if I can't find some sort of contrast. Thank your for the suggestion. I had not thought of that one yet!

Digitalalarts, I do not have a DOF setup. I wanted to check into what you asked just incase it may relay to the lighting in the software table. When I'm speaking of RGB cycle, I mean the software lighting within the table. In my case DOF wouldn't effect anything correct? If you watch someone or play the table it appears like triggers change all of the border lighting of the table in different colors in a cycle. Multiple hits, multiple colors cycle. I think even the coin slot kicks this in. Mine is just red, and flashes of white occasionally. I changed nothing in the versions I tested other than trying to toggle the GI option. Sorry for being unclear about my build. It's just a pc with 2 monitors, and a gaming controller.

@neosean99

I would like to help you but what you mean RGB cycle in VPX?

I don´t have DOF but I think RGB cycle is something about how to setup RGB LED strip, so DOF is necessary.

Can you send some pictures about it you would like to say?

I think he's talking about the table's general lighting.

I could be talking nonsense, but I don't have this table.

Usually, the light color changes are done artificially by the table author, using code within the scripts.

If it doesn't work, it means the code isn't there or there's an option within the scripts to activate it,

this is usually found in the first few lines.

These things are usually explained in the table release notes.

Kiwi correct. I've combed the script, and everything seems in order, but I still only see red. I'll post a vid of others playing so I can show what I mean. It's supposed to cycle other colors in the flashers and rail mimpers but always stays red for me. I don't have any external plug ins or anything that may hinder. Odd. I'm at a loss.

See all the rainbow flickering? Even the back art lighting changes. Mines always red. There has to be something that kicks this in...

VPM3.6 changed the light mappings on some Stern SAM tables, which I've already fixed on most of my versions, but I haven't investigated this one yet. I have a heavily bandaged right hand atm so give me some time and I'll check it out when I'm a bit better :)  Typing is a trip.

Bigus, I greatly appreciate that. You're one of my Vpin heroes! I am not in a hurry, it's just the only table I'm struggling with. Seems not many are seeing what I am. Thank you!

@Bigus

Yes, you are right

Some old VPX 10.7 tables that works with good light brightness with VPM 3.5  not work good with VPM 3.6 or 3.7

@neosean99

Yes, I understand what you mean. I tested the table and I saw what you are talking about.

I will test with VPM 3.5 to check and then I will send a feed back.

Updated

I just tested and I can confirm. The table work with you like with VPM 3.5.

I will gladly drop back a version. I haven't run into an issue so far where I needed to. Obviously I tried to troubleshoot before asking for help, but I should have thought about that. Sorry to those I've troubled. I will give this a try right now!

You aren't being any trouble by identifying problems - it's a vital step toward getting stuff fixed :)   Anyway we'd probably go stir-crazy without something to fix.

Confirmed Bigus, and Emanoel299! Dropped back to VPinMAME v3.5, and now all software RGB lightcycles can easily be seen vs. what was originally being seen on v3.6. Thank you very much gentlemen! Awesome sauce! 🤘

Take a Look at jarr3's excellent vpinballx.starter.
With this it is easy to create a "solution"... With the .pre and .Post Files, you can Change the vpm Versions for Just one table (If needed, as in this Case)

DigitalArts, I actually almost asked if this was possible yesterday. I will jump on that!
