New video

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=Yn4IC8EpBJc

This shows off most of the features I plan to support for v1.  I will be providing some updates for Tom to incorporate into a rev of XDMD.

If I did nothing more to this, it would be possible to build a pretty nice DMD for an original game.  I will be using it for my own game.  So I know at least one original game will use this. :)

Very nice!

Quick question: Can you choose your screen to apply the DMD window? For example if I have a 3 screen VP cab, can I put the DMD on the third screen? That would be really important.

Can you choose your screen to apply the DMD window

Yes.  You just start the DMD once, click and drag the window into place, and next time it's started it will show up in the same place.

Also, you can right click to bring up a few options: size, color, and hopefully soon it will have the option to flip X or flip Y.  All of these options will be retained.

One more thing, I just added support for animated GIF.

Minor update: I put some animations into my original table to ensure that UltraDMD meets all of MY requirements.  I discovered the need for another type of scene.

I have sent updates to Tom for XDMD.  This will allow for FadeIn / ZoomIn.  Also, I wanted to add the ability to cancel an animation in the middle.  It is useful for ball drain and other scenarios.

I am putting together the documentation.  I need to figure out where to host this.  I can put the package here for download.  But it would be nice to have a place to host the HTML help.

Recommendations?

Thanks for the reference to github.io.  I currently have UltraDMD in git via BitBucket.  I don't know if they have the ability to host a web documentation.  Maybe I'll switch to github.io.

BTW, DirectOutput looks like they are using DOxygen.  That's what I am using for documentation as well.

I threw together a Wordpress site.  Documentation is hella-boring.  I will improve it over time.  But for now, I just wanted to make something available for download.

Looks like just the thing I need, Stephen!

Let me know if I can be of any help; I do .NET for a living (senior level dev/architect for 20th Century Fox).

You can download from the wordpress site.  All feedback is welcome - web site, instructions, programming model, etc.

As chadderack has found, there is an issue.  I'm looking it.  I should have an update soon.  It's related to permissions to the registry.

I have started rebuilding XDMD.dll.  I don't want to bother Tom with rebuilds any more.

The latest version fixes a couple of fit and finish issues.  It is now possible to cancel a scene immediately.  It is also possible to extend a scene indefinitely.  Also, there was an issue with the FadeIn and ZoomIn transition.  This is now fixed.

Do you want to branch XDMD? If so would you want to place it in source somewhere I could look at?

I have XDMD source and have built it... it would be cool to stay in sync with your changes.

It's a single file that I'm changing. I am sending the updates to Tom so he can incorporate them. I can send you what I've changed.

Tom just replied and said he was going to update the XDMD site with the latest changes.  Once that's done, I will pull the private XDMD.
