Ah, sorry! Silly me to call it Haunted House. I'm excited for that table as well...but given the fact that I have a season pass to Disneyland and go on the Haunted Mansion ride all the time, I shouldn't make that mistake.

I'm using FPLaunch 1.295 wip 7 and I'm running windows XP so I don't think I'm using any compatibility mode...I'll double check but I don't think I've needed to in the past.

I did make a BG png for the backglass folder, so I'll try taking that out. Going to sleep now, but I'll do more testing tomorrow. I wish I could see the error message...I hear that beep when I select the table that there's some sort of error, but I can't see the message so I don't know what it is.

it shouldn't matter if you have a backglass PNG in the media folder.

Open the Windows Event Viewer to see the error message.

I had the same problem when running it in Hyperpin. All my b2s tables are set to false just like Rosve's. I think the problem you are having, may have to do with how Maceman set up his download. In order to get the table to work in Hyperpin, this is what I had to do.

First I deleted all the Haunted Mansion files from my computer. On my computer it did not make a nvram file, but still check your nvram files (in vpin) for a Haunted Mansion file and delete it.

I then redownloaded the file, thinking I had gotten a bad file, upon opening it up I realized that the Exe. file and the Vpt. file were not named exactly the same. If you will look real closely the Exe. is named HauntedMansion and the Vpt. file is named Haunted Mansion. I just added the space on the Exe. file to make the two look identical.

I then changed the script to false and the table works like a charm.

I may have gotten a bad download the first time, but if you haven't got the table to work, give this a try and see if this helps. Good luck.

Awesome, first, table Maceman! My nephew and I love it! He really loves the "scary" voices you have put on this table. Great work!!

Wow. Thanx very much Arita for noticing that!!! I had no idea. This is my first table and B2S to boot, so I never knew that they should match, or at least i never thought of it. I need to change that for others!!!!

I don't mind Roger correcting me either. He has been a great help, and we are all learning knew things. So put your BG back in the BG folder as well, and let us know if you can get it going!!

I really liked the video. I would like to see one again if you have time, of a working game in HP, so we can see how you do smile.gif

BTW- the High Scores I put on the display are fake numbers, I can't get much past 1 million at best:)

Hah, I was just coming on to post that the files were named differently and I see it's already been posted. Also note that the script calls for the space free HauntedHouse exe, however, I guess setting that to false makes it not matter. All sorted out...now I'm running out the door but later I'll give it some plays and see how it runs! Looks great, thanks for your work Maceman!

Now I've got some plays in...definitely a fun table. I notice in the Wip thread you posted that you wish you could come up with some better table rules...I think there is definitely room for a ruleset with some depth and I have some ideas on how to do it...though I know nothing about scripting a table so all I can offer are suggestions.

I think you've got a great foundation here, and you don't need to change a thing about the layout...the play is challenging, but all the shots can be made.

Here's what I'd do for a ruleset:

Set up some goals...think of a lot of the later williams tables, there were 5 or 6 things you had to complete, to feel like you "beat the table." I think you could use your ball changing thing as "levels" of progress.

I'd set up some goals using existing stuff. You have 3 arrows pointing at each ramp...how about each time you hit a ramp one arrow stays lit until you've lit all 3, and then you've completed that ramp. Complete both ramps to complete the ramp challenge. Open the door and shoot up there 3 times to complete that one, light all the skulls on the lower playfield as a challenge, all the skulls on the upper playfield as a challenge...maybe spin the upper skull spinner thingy x amount of times for a superjets kind of thing, maybe a combo challenge where you have to hit both ramps and then go through the door within 10 seconds of each other or whatever...

To tie it all together...you can't advance the ball color without completing a challenge, and you can only advance the ball color once per challenge...so let's say you light all the upper skulls, then hit the center hole, the ball color advances, but the next time you light all the upper skulls you don't advance the ball color again, you have to complete a different challenge. Maybe put an arrow light at the center hole that lights when the ball color can be advanced...and otherwise have that hole spot a lower playfield skull.

Also perhaps add in an end of ball bonus and have each level of ball color act as a bonus multiplier. For these rules to work you'd likely have to change the table so that it remembers completed shots and skulls from ball to ball.

To sum up, you've got 6 ball colors, and 6 challenges...lower skulls, upper skulls, 2 ramps 3x, door 3x, ramp/door combo, superjets. Maybe as a reward, once you get the pumpkin ball for completing everything, all scores are doubled for the rest of the ball and the ramps are jackpot shots.

Anyway, I love the table already, it plays great and the theme is awesome...just posting this because your post about wanting more depth in the ruleset got me thinking on how to do it. I don't want to come off as if I think your table is terrible and needs to be fixed or something...I think it's great already!

That is fatastic man!!! I really appreciate someone taking the time to look at it and offer suggestions like that.Your ruleset is GREAT!!

Problem we have however, is that I am too green at scripting currently to pull that off, but people could here for sure. Time is always an issue, and people here mostly like the real recreations rather than OG's.

Having said that, as I mention before, If anyone ever wants to make a mod,I would be all for that!! So maybe this will get done eventually?

btw- What do you use for your video, ie. how did you turn it to youtube format from HD.Cheers,

Maceman

I wish I knew anything about scripting these things or I'd give it a go. Maybe I'll try and learn and see what I can do.

As for the video, it was just a vid with my iphone, that's why it's so thin.

Dear All,

We thankfully have an eagle-eyes amongst us!!! Thanx to Pllegare for finding a simple fix for this issue below!!!

pllegare, on 28 Jun 2014 - 8:50 PM, said:

Keep trying to get your wonderful table to play but can't.
When I set the backglass to false the game plays fine but no score because I have no backglass.
If I set the backglass to true I get a crash immediately says
Script error Line01: null
What is the fix? table looks great but can't get the backglass up.
I've noticed under the download comments that others had the same problem but no solution given.
Thanks ahead of time for any help.

Pllegare writes further:

I finally figured it out before I got an answer.

Here is what fixes it.

The files are named:

Haunted Mansion_FS_BS2.exe    and

Haunted Mansion_FS_BS2.vpt

change them to the following by taking out the space between the words Haunted and Mansion so they look like this:

HauntedMansion_FS_BS2.exe     and

HauntedMansion_FS_BS2.vpt

Now the line in the script here matches:

     LaunchBackGlass "HauntedMansion_FS_B2S", true    'True=Launch bg ,  False=Don't launch bg.

This will stop the null error message and allow the backglass and game to play.

This table is awesome.

Thanks

___________

Thanx for the solution to a problem I probably would never have noticed myself!!

Cheers,

Maceman
