Just did a desktop to FS conversion

Split Second : 0,30,78,270,1.346,1.85,-510,8 (Fipper : height 60,Rubber : width 28, offset 24, thickness 6)(Top Fipper : height 50,Rubber : width 26, offset 16, thickness 6)

With any luck I can sit on the cab over the weekend and get a heap done.
Makes a huge difference.

Probably should mention, when changing rubber thickness, you will have to change flipper radius also to keep the same ratio.
Some flippers look weird so adjust them til they look right.

Do one flipper at a time so you can track the difference.

how do you figure these out. Is there some sort of formula or what. I just start with 0,45,85,270 and go from there. There must be a better way since so many tables have been done so far. Thanks this really makes old converted 4x3 tables so much better.

I always start with some inclination- 10-15 and then FOV 60 and go from there; Layback is the last thing I do just to correct the flipper alignment.

Inc- 14
FOV- 60
LB- 75
xy 270
x 1.28
y 1.7
x off -364
y off 255

I sometimes take an hour or more to tweak the settings of a really good game, just to get the perspective down to a picture perfect shot on the correct perspective of playing the real game. Inclination is the key....

I think for cabinets where the playfield monitor is close to the glass and the similar or ideally same distance from the glass from front to back, Scott's approach is the future. As those dark thin triangles are essentially drawing the insides of the real cab, so you get much more realistic render (I've been comparing Scott's and the real machine image and they're very close).

So we almost need TWO layback settings lists - one for those who have the distance between their playfield monitor and glass the same from front to back (Scott's approach), and then the more standard (so far) layback settings, that add the overhead-->front on perspective moving to the back of the rendered playfield, but keep the width to the sides of the monitor all the way to the back.

I was torn before about whether to recess my monitor more to the back of the cab, or whether to go for the same distance to the glass from front to back, but now I've seen Scott's approach on the Funhouse screengrab, it's definitely the latter option for me! smile.gif

the tables with high ramps and toys do need heaps of inc.

I think somewhere in between,
my monitor is recessed at the back and with small amounts of inc gets a nice mix of the two.

Here is Scared Stiff:
Inc: 10
FOV 50
LB 80
x 1.31
y 1.93
y off -358
x off 250

I would like to try experimenting with the rear backboards to make them taller.
1. I need to see if it can be done without changing the shape of the entire game
2. If it does work, I need to get the table authors permission to make that change.

I noticed in most games the back wall on the playfield is considerabley taller further adding to the illusion of depth.
SS, Totan, and LOTR are great real life examples.

Hope you like, again values may seem extreme but if you compare them to the real game you will have a better understanding of the depth I am trying to achieve. Again MUCHO thanks to JP

Although I like the way that your tables look Scott, for some reason, I cannot bring myself to skew the top of the screen that way. I like the plunger lane to run perpendicular with the side of my cabinet.

Rawd take a look at one of your games, or a pic of the original scared stiff--
Now, look at the far right back board corner, it gives off an optical illusion of meeting (perpendicular) at the same point somewhere on the inside of the right corner of the apron. so a real game already gives the illusion of a curved shooting lane.

trust me on that one, on some of these games like the totan I will post next... I have stood in front of both for hours making comparisons. I do agree, it is a big difference from the original settings, but that is why I am posting comparitive snap shots with the real thing.

May I suggest that we use two separate Lay Back names? E.g. RLB - Rawd Lay Back, and SLB - Scott Lay Back.
Just a suggestion.

I'm very curious how the two methods will compare on a full scale cab.

EDIT: Also, perhaps you could list the RLB first, and the SLB last in your list?

I completely agree with you, and I like the way you set your tables up. I am going to give your settings a try on my cabinet and see what I think after playing a few games. . I think it is just something that needs getting used to... and I'm not used to it. smile.gif For me, it seems to create the illusion of goin 'downhill' with the skewed back.

I have my screen fairly close to the glass, and even spacing from front to back. I also have 2.5" black borders on the sides of my cabinet (I was one of the first to build a cabinet, and none of us had thought to de-bezel a TV yet smile.gif )

I remember trying something similar, and for some reason it drove me nuts that I wasn't using my entire screen real estate.. lol.

Nah.. I wouldn't want my name tied in with it, as none of these are really my settings. Dedrock has provided us with most of the settings so far (not to neglect the other posters).

I am just going to continue adding the table settings that people provide, and if we don't like them, we can still just tweak them as we like.
