Here's a backglass I worked on today using Rosve's Active EM backglass. I have all of the table script done and it works great, but I need to learn a few more things about it.

Wow- those both look GREAT!

Moog, how did you get the display parts to go up to your backglass?

-Bob, How long do you think until yours is completed??

A program called Pinserver, which was developed by Manowar I think. I have only been able to find 2 others on the forums that use it. It's a little tricky to get it working, but works well once it is. I have tried to use it in windows 7, with no luck. But in XP it works fine. There are some drawbacks. There is no active lighting. I take my image, put it in UVP, add lights, the take a picture from the UVP and use that. There are no functions for tilt, hight score lights. But I have been using it for about a year now. I posted a topic just last week to see if anyone else was using it, only two people responded. Here is the topic I originally us to get it started.

Bob, If you want to show the credits using two digits, Here is how to do it.

Copy and paste the Credit picturebox and place the new picbox (picturebox26) to the left of the original box.

Add the line Me.ScalePicBox(PictureBox26) at the end of the FR routine

Then search for "Case 29". That will take you to the code that updates the credit reel.
Replace the old code with this,

CODE
                Case 29
                    'Coin Reel
                    Dim cr
                    If colorvalue > 99 Then colorvalue = 99
                    cr = colorvalue / 10
                    PictureBox26.BackgroundImage = EMReelImageList.Images(Int(cr))
                    PictureBox25.BackgroundImage = EMReelImageList.Images(Int((cr - Int(cr)) * 10))

The backglass can now display credits up 99.

/Rosve.

Rosve, I used your single credit display for my ball display and I used the last two scoring positions of Player 2 for the credit display. smile.gif Every thing works fine on my backglass. I used 2 digits for credits to sort of make my own test copy for later add-a-ball games where I will use 2 digits for a possible 10 balls and then one digit for replays.

I do have a question though.... When I load your New table or this table, VP table loads first, then the backglass loads, then the focus is on the backglass, I have to click the playfield area with the mouse to return focus to the 1st monitor and then the table is active again. This is no problem for me as I have no cabinet and have my keyboard and mouse right in front of me. How does this work for people with cabinets or people who use HyperPin? This is why I haven't uploaded the FS version yet, plus I thought I might need to do something else or at least let you look at it first to make sure I have everything included in a zipfile.

Your setup is perfect for me. smile.gif I had Photoshop open, VB Express open, VPForum's open on my browser, my antivirus running and a few other windows open and VP open while creating this backglass and when I would test the table and backglass, I can't believe it was still running smooth on my old system. smile.gif

I had a few questions about whether there was a transparency available to me, could I have just made my backglass text with a transparent background? I only used one backglass image and then added the 3 active lights (Shoot Again, TILT, Game Over) so this is a pretty simple backglass with no lighting ambiance.

I have launch the table directly with VP9x and no problem with back and playfield.(I don't click on playfield for playing)

I don't know with hyperpin , I haven't test.

ps:I am to deprive not to be able to express me more with you has cause of my English.

The Backglass program is (should) setting focus to the "Visual Pinball Player" process when it has started up. I am not sure why this isn't working for you.

Try to replace the LaunchBackglass call with this,
objRegistry.Run "backglassname.exe", 8

Regarding transparency, VB do not handle transparency very well. This is something I am still thinking about.

I tried your [objRegistry.Run "backglassname.exe", 8] I'm assuming the 8 is for True? Results below.

I press Play, the table "Prepare Table" loading window comes up, then the table playfield screen pops up, then the Backglass screen pops up, then the taskbar pops up with the window Form1 being the last active window (the Form1 taskbar button is a darker color than the other taskbar buttons), then it sits there until I either click the playfield or click on the Visual Pinball Player taskbar button.

Now the funny thing is, I just loaded this table 20 times in a row, 3 times it returned focus back to the Visual Pinball Player and worked as you described it should.

What is the benefit of this pinserver over UVP?

What I mean is, why could someone just take the BG above, open it in UVP Server, add lights(if wanted), and then save it? Would this work as a BG? How did people get the score to go up to the BG??

Thanx.

For starters, UVP makes my game stutter, so I can't use it at this time. I have an older pc. This backglass program seems to not slow down anything for me.

Sure, someone could use these backglasses and make a UVP, but then it would have to be someone that wanted it ansd knew how to do it.

The score goes up on the backglasses because we wrote programs and script to do it.

Good information Bob,
it is most likely a timing problem, I think I know how to fix that. I will PM a solution to you later tonight.
