If your using "Champion Pub (Bally 1998)_Bigus(MOD)1.1.vpx", Put this code in before the LoadVPM:

dim UseVPMColoredDMD : UseVPMColoredDMD = 1

Sub ImplicitDMD_Init
   Me.x = 30
   Me.y = 30
   Me.width = 128 * 2
   Me.height = 32 * 2
   Me.fontcolor = RGB(255, 255, 255)
   Me.visible = true
End Sub

LoadVPM "01560000", "WPC.VBS", 3.2

And check out this info on the subject:

Awesome! Again so glad your guys are trying this out!

Are you on discord, I can get you set up with Champion Pub. That one even has a serum color DMD.

Which TAF were you using?

which discord channel?

I see new builds with a RK3588 build, wow.  I think I will be picking one up to make a new handheld if it runs acceptable.  Do you have any experience with one?

Thanks for the champion pub stuff. (Incredible seeing a Color DMD working, really sick stuff)

I've have an opi 5 with rk3588 and it's slow. Faster than the pi 4 for sure.  But TBH, no clue if I'm really getted hardware acceleration, etc.

I found a bug. When I am using the OpenGL version of vpx and hit F1 to modify VPinMame settings it minimizes vpx and when I bring it back to focus it wont let me make any changes. I dont have that problem when I am using the DX 9 version.

anyone know about the new ini file stuff to make VPX be able to un under linux or android.
I'm thinking maybe that can be used to toggle exclusive setting (at least with a ahk script to mod ini as last resort)

the ini file support is available in all builds of standalone. The only trick on android and iOS are can only make changes to the ini via the web console.

I'm sorry but can you give me an example of how to generate the ini file and how to launch vp with the ini file.   If this works like I think it does, this is huge.  Thanks

The file is created on the very first run.

Unfortunately on Android you can't access the file system to put one in before the first run.  You would have to make your own build.

https://github.com/v...t VPinballX.ini

On the very first run (or if the file does not exist), it will take this file and place it into the applications data directory.

Finally found the time to actually play and appreciate some great tables lately. Its amazing how far VPX has evolved over the years, i can remember back to the vp7 days and before primitives came on the scene. What a game changer that was at the time but it is in VR now where you really see all the effort come to life. The ball now in VR looks pretty much like a real ball and the playfield reflections on the ball in VR now look awesome, really ads to the realism. I would like to thank everyone who has got us to this 10.8 beta over the years it really is appreciated.

Cheers

So the ini file will only work with Android/Linux build?   I actually want to use it for windows, to change things like exclusive full screen toggle.  guess I have to mod the registry for such tables. I also think its easier to move an .ini file to another cabinet,

I'm been throwing a bunch of tables at the DX version and only found one weird bug to report. Maybe It's just my own user error, I dunno. On The VPW Starship Troopers, the DMD window shows completely black. When opening it with 10.7.2 the dmd displays correctly. I've gone through the settings and tried everything I can think of, but no dice.

unfortunately only standalone has this web server concept.

And there isn't a version of standalone for windows, since windows gets the real thing

^if your really determined to get the android version running on windows (or mac) you can use Bluestacks. It's an android emulator. It's pretty good, and best of all free. I use it for a couple things, such as reading my digital comic collection on my favorite cbz/cbr reading app. It thinks it's a phone/pad so you can sign into your google and it's knows what purchases you own if you want to download and use any of those things from the official store. You can also install apk's with ease. However you won't be getting 100% use out of your hardware, your cpu/gpu will take a bit of a hit in emulated translation. But then again your cpu/gpu probably has wayyyyy more power than any phone, so It should even out a little in that respect. I havn't tried vpx on it so I can't really say how it will perform.

Maybe try another build, in VR at least, build v1245 has created this issue for some tables.

I saw a change pushed to github about Add an optional sub directory to MusicDirectory property     but was cancelled.  what is this for?  I really hate how some authors just put many music titles in the music dir, I prefer to have music files under another dir under music, something like music\tablename\files.  Is this what this is about?

Of course you can do this already - manually...
Put the music files of a table into a sub folder in music, and just change the path of the files in the table script...

This was not cancelled.

10.8 now has a the ability to get the path with subdirectory in one shot now.

If you look at a lot of the scripts that have custom music, there is tons of code for finding the directory, checking that it exists, appending directories and slashes.

While that's great for Windows, path separators become an issue on other platform.

So now you can do this:

Dim musicDir : musicDir = MusicDirectory("tna")

This will look in the bin path, followed by current table path, followed by preferences path.

If it exists, you'll get back the full path with a trailing path separator ready for you to append the filename.

FWIW 10.6 works just fine with playmusic "sub_dir_name\something.mp3"

has for as long as i remember.
I always refused to just dump random music in the music folder and pray i know what is what later.

10.8 just eliminates having to go through and edit every playmusic line in the script poking the subfolder name in
as it lets you set dim musicdir

(yay less editing for me)

jsm174, that is great news, will make editing much easier.  Almost wish it wasn't allowed to put music files directly into the music folder :)

almost?

almost????

I wish it had never been allowed.
i wish it would have been hard coded to look at music\tablename or music\gamename etc and force the matter from day one.

some tables the track names are meaningless to anyone but the author

C0eff8B.mp3

umm what?
LoL
