FlexDmD is really fantastic

 

Was reading about setting custom DMD size/position with original tables

Note : This involves using the registry editor and editing reg information.

 

The way I set it up was to include the line

FlexDMD.GameName = "..."

in the flexDMD section of script.

Using regedit export a rom, set the wanted size/position

rename the rom name to the FlexDMD.Gamename and reimport the rom

this will use the rom entry instead of DmdDevice.ini

 

Probably a long way to do it, but does work nicely

I'm assuming You have freezy set to use registry settings In the DmdDevice.ini file
; use VPM's registry values when positioning the virtual dmd
useregistry = true
I just tested this and it works, But what I did Is rename one of the roms that are already there Without exporting it

I have the default set where I want them for location and size

Outhere, a big help to me, I was not aware of the additional scripts, thanks for pointing that out, I'll read the DOC and test the scripts, see what happens thanks again, and Seraph74 and a few others who are pointing me in the right direction. I kind of wish for a "Grand Unification" theory for the management of all DMD presentation for all VPX.

Can anyone please provide detailed instructions for a complete noob on how to resize/relocate a FlexDMD window for a specific game (while not affecting other games)? I see bits and pieces mentioned, but not a thorough explanation that makes sense (to a noob). Working with a single screen and just setup Freezy and UltraDMD a few days ago. Was quickly pointed to FlexDMD and have it installed/registered, but really don't understand how to customize it for individual games. I'd also like to know how to hide it for specific games, if possible. TIA

Ok I have had everything running no issues but I just had to try this for JP's tables. So I installed flex and set up everything and changes the table scripts and all looks good on my dmd. Then I went to play FX3 and now my dmd is gone and I notice I can't move my mouse to the backglass I think it goes behind it because when i first launch a game I see it pop up on the backglass then it goes away. Prob something simple

Make sure FX3 did not switch over to full screen

One question... the description states that FlexDMD has enhancements for PinballY, but I don't see details that I can understand at my level of comprehension. I'm using PinballY as a front end, can someone explain to me what the benefits are for PinballY in simple "English"?    :-)

I do not use PinballY so I don't know what the enhancements would be but
I recommend you read the whole topic all 11 pages before you install for lots of good information and help

The enhancement comes as a script in the scripts folder on github. Simply copy the contents provided in Scripts/PinballY on Github to your PinballY/Scripts. Now, PinballY will display a DMD that shows informations on the selected table, hiscores, play stats, company logo,... with animations (have a look in the dmds subfolder to have an overview of the assets used).

How do I get the dmd to display on my 3rd monitor? DMD from backglass I can move and it stays, dmd works on 3rd screen in PUP packs. When I run anything that uses flexdmd / ultradmd I cannot get it to stay on the 3rd monitor. I thought there was a way when you first run ultradmd.exe that you can adjust settings, etc but I cannot do this now and there does not seem to be a way to do this in flexdmd.

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm using 2 displays for playfield and backglass and a pin 2 dmd for DMD. Managed to get flexdmd (0.1.5) to work, (needed files put in the correct folder and registration ok after running flexdmdui.exe. I have 3 tables that run ultradmd, Masters of the Universe, JP's Ghostbusters Slimer and Champions League. All 3 tables can start up and the pin 2 dmd has a display which I believed is the ultradmd replacement. All good but when I exit the tables, the dmd display remains on the pin 2 dmd while the table quits properly (i think...no error). starting another (non ultradmd) will overwrite the frozen dmd display but will mess up the color on the dmd. Closing and opening another non ultradmd table then works ok. Flipped through these 11 pages hopefully to get a clue but saw in the first 2 pages that reported pin 2 dmd was working ok with no reported problems.  

 

Hope to get some advice for the stuck display upon exiting the tables if possible.

In the beginning it did seem to but now FlexDMD always leaves a image on my Pin to DMD when leaving the game but when I start another game the colors seem fine
I'm running windows 10 with nothing as admin and I have my UAC said at
