You used the dmddevice.dll and the dmddevice.ini from this location ?

https://github.com/f...nsions/releases

Can't remember hearing anyone having a problem like you describe.

From now on. I won't help anyone here at VPF. Please ask Noah why that is.

Yep sure did. I have scoured posts and I really am at a lost. Once I put the .dll in the vpinmame folder i launch a table hit F1 and uncheck show dmd and check use external and color. When I exit out VPX crashes/hangs. So I have to start task manger and force close vpx. When I restart vpx and launch the table no dmd and when I exit it hangs again. So weird. It seems to me pinmame doesn't recognize to use external dmd. I will give it another go and see what happens. Maybe need to reinstall vpx not really not wanting to do that. Also I noticed I never had an original dmddevice.dll not sure if that means anything.

Sorry to say that I have no idea why you have this problem.

Why don't you put those files from dmd-ext that is related to logging into vpinmame folder and see if anything is getting logged ?

Try replacing your dmddevice.ini with the one that stat uploaded in the weekly challenge thread.

http://www.vpforums....attach_id=26420

It contains info about how you can move the dmd rom by rom as well. I believe you are running a LCD monitor as DMD ?

I will try it. And yes I have an LCD monitor as my dmd. I'm going to try also to disable jit not sure if that will effect anything else.

So, we are talking just one table ? I though you had a general problem with getting this working. Yes, then a JIT change would be a good idea to try out.

I assume you have unblocked the .dll files?

You are correct in general. I guess changing the jit would be a per rom basis so I guess I would need to change it once I get vpinmame to stop crashing when I enable the .dll

I appreciate the help from everyone. I basically have this thing working. The only problem I have left is the focus problem with Future DMD. I believe I mentioned it earlier, but I have Future DMD launching at the start of PinballX. It runs on my 3rd screen and works great. Up to this point when I launch a VP table, the VPM DMD is simply placed on top of my Future DMD, and when I exit it is closed with the Future DMD once again becoming visible. However, when I use the external DMD option, the DMD is not placed above the Future DMD. It is not visible unless Future DMD is closed. I get around this by using a launch before script to close Future DMD and a launch after script to reopen it when running VP tables.

My biggest issue with this method is when closing the VP table and returning to the PinballX menu it adds time in which everything is just black making it appear like the program is crashing. The old way was basically instantaneous when exiting a table. The new way takes like 10 seconds which doesn't sound long but in practice makes the whole operation ugly. Can this be fixed in the call to the external DMD?

I also use FutureDMD and just got color working. Did you find a solution about futuredmd hiding the colordmd? Any suggestions I can try?

So....what was your solution? I mean for those of us that are still struggling to get this working.

So in my case it was 1 of 2 things. What I did was 1. Reinstalled vpinmame. I Edited the dmddevice.ini and the real.dmd.devices to false. Then created the alt color folder and added acdc color pallet to it. And also the color rom to roma folder. I then ran setup.on vpinmame clicked test selected the acdc color rom and it worked! Then all I needed to do was adjust the ini. File to get the dmd placed in the correct position. If you need help hit me up.

I have it working - as outlined - but it stutters pretty bad - ALL my tables are flawless with the normal DMD - am I missing a file or wrong file?

Has anyone gotten this to work with futuredmd? I like future dmd as it gives stats on the tables as your browsing in pbx. But when I launch a table futuredmd hides freezys dmd. I guess I can disable futuredmd if there is no other work around
