And with the very small number of actual "authors" in this community, I would prefer it if we protect them, rather than risking pissing them off.
As i wrote the last time when this topic flared up: i totally understand that this rule is in place to keep the peace in the forum.
Apples and oranges. In the case of MJ, somebody else still holds the rights and that person or group is responsible for enforcing whatever restrictions and rights they have.
Okay, it's apples (group enforces their own rules) and oranges (worldwide copyright law). When people die, the copyright goes to their heir and they choose how to handle the heritage. With VP, the tables get's conserved and nobody is allowed to upload something new that is based on the old table. I find that strange. The original table is not going away because somebody expanded or updated it. Credits can be given.
And with the Bible, it's not only an even larger timespan, but it's literally impossible to even define the original authors.
I think the same is true for tables whos authors used an alias and had their email address/forum account expire.
I believe this might come down to a POV difference. You're a regular member, I'm a moderator. You might care much less about the potential fallout these ideas cause than I do, but I have to deal with this, potentially mend burned bridges and somehow try to keep the contributing members from just disappearing. And if it backfires, it all falls back on poor handling on the staff member's part, rather than looking for the problems at the source, and I'll be taking all the heat. Because of that, I'm very much in favor of keeping the original author's "rights" (for lack of a better term) strong.
Nobody wants to piss off authors. That's why i wrote before that the original authors could become the primary maintainer of the table and they decide which change they include in the table. Until they abandon it because they no longer care, then a new maintainer gets to decide.

Hello,
I will be off duty next week, so I want to give You an impression of my WIP so far. I want to replace the playfield boundaries with rubber rings and add some more posts and screws.
The table already plays well, but sometimes, as in the original tables by destruk and nealtron, the ball will not be recreated after vanishing in one of the holes. Maybe I find out how to fix it later.
For now You can have a look at the table.
Regards
Michael

Hi,
thank You for the kind responses. I will add some basic improvements over the next few days and then release version 0.9 to give You the chance to play that table.
I too had to wait too long for the FS version.
FDSystems:
If You want a normal version of Junk Yard, play nealtrons VP8 v2.3 table, as it runs very well with VP9. I am concentrating on the full screen conversion.
thewool:
I am using a different playfield scan. I asked player1 for his sources, as it would improve the readability of the junk description, but I received no answer so far. What do You mean by "reels"? I am using reels for the flashers and the moving dog, like nealtron, but newly created. Otherwise I restarted with destruks table and he used walls instead of rubber rings. He also (as nealtron) placed a slingshot below the left cars near the wrecker ball, where is no one on the real table.
Regards
Michael

I think player1 has been sucked into work the past few weeks. The redraw he was working on looked amazing.... would be great if you could eventually use it.
