Hi all!

I have spent the last 9 months, from February to November, updating all my VPX tables so they look and play as good as possible under VPX8. All the tables are tested with VPX8 RC5.
During the next weeks I'll upload all 238 tables, about 10 every day. I hope to finish uploading them all before Christmas.

The changes on all the tables are more or less the same, although some tables already had a few of these updates. Some tables needed some bug fixes, and other tables needed a lot of more work. These are the changes:

- Some specific updates and adjustments for VPX8 RC5 version (adjusted reflections, equirectangular ball, linked flashers to lights and script changes using the new _Animate event, reducing the need for a fast timer to do real-time updates)
- Some graphical changes (playfield mesh with holes for better looks and game play, incandescent lights, extra flashers, modulated flashers, and linked flashers to lights when possible)
- A lot of script changes to update all the routines to my latest versions.
- Added a screenshot for scutters excellent file explorer handler.
- Updated physics to my Rev3. Including physics materials, flipper code, ball spin control and slingshot shapes.
- Updated LUT images and display system, using a post-it, with 10 darker shades and 10 warmer shades.
- Added missing sound for the post-it highscore (still using GNance's post-it system, but with a reduced post-it size and a new font made by pedator, I also used flashers to remove the extra shadows).

After these updates, all my tables will have my latest physics and the same LUT changer, activated by holding the Left CTRL key down and using the right CTRL to step through the different dark levels. I know I could have used the F12 options in VPX8, but that may be done later :)

Speaking about the physics, the only difference between Rev3 and the physics in these VPX8 tables is that I have adjusted a little the physical material of the targets and drop targets, and now they absorb a little more the balls speed and I also added a ball spin control, to stop some weird ball movements, but there is still ball spin. Remember the Rev3 of my physics is just a start point with some balanced values, but some tables may need some adjustments to fit the era and the type of the table.

In the last months, I have already uploaded some new tables which include all these changes, so there is no need to re-upload them.

I won't make a new post for each table, to do not to fill up the forums with my upload posts :)
I'll simply add a few lines here in this thread with the daily uploads.
If you miss some of the updates, you can always click on my signature image which will take you to my upload list, sorted by date, with the latest uploads first.

I have tried to fix all the missing sounds and bugs found in the tables, but due to the many changes in these tables, I may have introduced some new bugs. If you find anything that may look like a bug then please write it here in this thread or in the Support Thread of the table itself, but please do not post bugs in the review section of the games, as I don't get notifications from the posts in the reviews, and I may never see that bug report.

Enjoy and Happy Christmas!
JP

PS: If you miss some of the tables, remember that you can click on my signature's image to get a full list of my latest uploads.

Note: The latest revision of all the tables is version 5.5.0, with the name v55.VPX8 in the filename, These version 5.5.0 includes a final fix for the playfield mesh issue were the ball could get stuck on top of the flippers after a ball cradle. And also includes a physics fix to my new ball spin control routine (rubbing in the ball rolling sound routine). The first versions 5 included a ball spin control, but it was way too strong and almost killed all the ball's acceleration, which made the balls to stop on top of the ramps and wander around the playfield like a zombie :) So, remember to download only the versions 5.5.0 :D I'm uploading them now, but it takes time to update all 257 tables :)

Today's tables are newer tables and are updated with modulated flashers.

JP's Addams Family (Bally 1992) v5_VPX8
JP's Avengers Classic LE (Stern - 2012) v5_VPX8
JP's Indiana Jones (Stern 2008) v5_VPX8
JP's Metallica Pro (Stern 2013) VPX8
JP's Spiderman v5_VPX8
JP's Terminator 2 (Williams 1991) v5_VPX8
JP's The Walking Dead v5_VPX8
JP's Transformers (Stern 2011) v5_VPX8
JP's World Joker Tour VPX8
Tales of the Arabian Nights (Williams 1996) v5_VPX8

Some notes about these tables:

The modulated flashers are now much easier to implement than in older VPX versions, due to be able to link flashers to lights in VPX8. This may require a newer vpinmame than the one you are using.

Here it is the code I used for the modulated flashers:

SolModCallback(17) = "Flasher17"

Sub Flasher17(m): m = m /255: f17a.State = m: f17b.State = m: f17d.State = m: f17e.State = m: End Sub

Being f17a, f17b, f17d, f17e the lights used in the flash. Some flasher objects may be linked to these lights.
This way there is no need for complicated scripts to use the modulated flashers on these kinds of tables.

Thankyou JP. When I started virtual pinball there was this legend JP Salas everyone was talking about and as I dug into how tables worked there were so many pieces of script attributed to JP Salas. JP's hand seemed to be in many peoples work not only his own. And here I am today worn out from doing two tables and the JP Salas enormous legacy is still as strong and relevant as ever. I award you a gold star for being a top bloke JP. You can't get any better than that.

cheers Mate!

Thank you for maintaining and keep the tables up to date.
All I can wish for is MechanicalTilt is added to all EM and Original table scripts. Originals could have 2x warning before tilt.
Amazing work! :love39:
