File Name: Mars God Of War (Gottlieb 1981) cyberpez vpx 1.0.vpx

File Submitter: cyberpez

File Submitted: 05 Sep 2016

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME - MOD Tables

Author(s): cyberpez
dboyrecords
CompuFox
luvthatapex
Manufacturer: Gottlieb
Year: 1981
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Here is my third table and first VPX release.  Mars God of War by Gottlieb.  Zany recommended this one right around the time I was finishing up Black Hole.  It’s one I probably would have never given a second look, but am glad I did.  It’s a lot of fun!!!!  This table has been a LONG time coming.  Well over a year and a half.  Table was pretty much done for VP9, then started on a VPX conversion, then too much changed so VP9 was abandoned.  I hope/think the VPX version will be worth the wait.  I've learned a ton working on this and can't wait to add all my new tricks into the other tables I'm working on.

Table is a conversion/mod/almost complete rebuild of every previous version there was, but specifically started with dboyrecords’ VP9 table.  I redrew the playfield and plastics from the best pictures I could find at the time.  I don't know how accurate the playfield is, but the table plays well and I think both turned out great with what I had to work with.

I taught myself 3D modeling with this table..  Pretty much why it took so long :P  (along with real life)  The ramp is from Dark/ICPjuggla (gtxjoe for the animation code?) and their Raven table.  The ramp cage started out the same and has been rebuilt and redone an embarrassing amount of times.  Zany did the tube (with awesome PF reflection) and original bumper caps.  HauntFreaks reworked the caps to give them the fancy light shining through bit.  I did most all the other custom 3D models myself minus the standard stuff from the default table and other odds and ends from Dark and Zany. I stole the leaf switches from one of BorgDog’s. Thanks gtxjoe for the math magic on the spinner rod.

As always, check the top of the table for options...  Including GI color, Capture hole lights, Cheaters, Apron inserts, and Rom versions.

You will need to use the latest VP 10.2 build for this one.

----------------------------------------

Other Credits and Thanks not mentioned above:

Thanks to my test team for help on the vp9 version that turned into this version!!  The Loafer, Shadowsclassic, Nemo, Arngrim, dboyrecords, Zany.  With their help we squashed bugs and tweaked the playability.  Thanks again for your time and help!!

Thanks to dboyrecords, CompuFox, luvthatapex for their versions of this table.  Their tables were my manual for this!!!

Thanks to Arngrim for adding in DOF.

HauntFreaks helped fine tuning the lighting, primitive kicker holes, and tips on cutting holes in the playfield. (Along with all the other things he does)

wrd1972 for help fine tuning the physics.

Thanks to all the Table Authors, Table Template Builders, Primitive Builders, etc. that have come before me.  It's AMAZING(!!!!!!!) what you have all done with this program.  I'd give you all credit but I'd never stop typing names.  Thanks!!!

----------------------------------------

Hope you Enjoy!!!

I have not had the time to download this yet, but I gave it a "like" for @Drybonz since he ran out of "likes" for the day (that can happen?).  So when he can "like" again tomorrow that "Like" is from me, cause I'm sure I will like appreciate this table the same as your others :otvclap:

What can I say?  I like stuff.    :click-me:

Seriously, cyberpez... just got a chance to play MGoW... really couldn't look any better, and very fast, slick gameplay.  Just wanted to leave a quick note, but I'm gonna go play some more.  Thanks for the table.

I downloaded the latest build and still get the error. The current version is 10.2 revision 2774 right?

I could have been smart, but I never learned anything by being smart!

Something like that -- it will  be the scripts that matter here.. Did you copy them into your scripts directory? Are there some still in your tables directory?

(whichever place you have them - be sure they are the scripts from the 10.2)

Yeah, you will need the new scripts.  I also know I've run into issues in the past if I had old scripts in the tables folder and the new ones in the scripts folder.  I had to delete all the old scripts out of the tables folder.

anyone that wants to try VP10.2 and it not be their primary VPX player (no commitment necessary)

DL the latest build....

make a folder like VP10.2

unzip the full contents of the ZIP into your new VP10.2 folder

make one other folder inside the VP10.2 folder called "User"

that's it, no installs no overwriting anything , no worries...

so when you want to test or play a VP10.2 table

run the exe in the VP10.2 folder and bam, you're good to go.... no fuss no muss

just to throw something else out there.... this is why I have always been a huge proponent of all the systems in separate folders ( I go way beyond this, I have every table in its own folder as well )

it doesnt increase the amount of space used by much less than a Mb

Hmmm  I've not seen that with the adding of two extra balls into the launch lane...?  What else you described sounds normal...  If you capture one or two balls, and the loose the ball in play before starting multiball you loose all captured balls.  (unless a certain light is lit and you hit the correct out lane)

Has anyone else seen the adding two extra balls?  I can look into it either way.
