Here is my third table and first VPX release.  Mars God of War by Gottlieb.  Zany recommended this one right around the time I was finishing up Black Hole.  It’s one I probably would have never given a second look, but am glad I did.  It’s a lot of fun!!!!  This table has been a LONG time coming.  Well over a year and a half.  Table was pretty much done for VP9, then started on a VPX conversion, then too much changed so VP9 was abandoned.  I hope/think the VPX version will be worth the wait.  I've learned a ton working on this and can't wait to add all my new tricks into the other tables I'm working on.

Table is a conversion/mod/almost complete rebuild of every previous version there was, but specifically started with dboyrecords’ VP9 table.  I redrew the playfield and plastics from the best pictures I could find at the time.  I don't know how accurate the playfield is, but the table plays well and I think both turned out great with what I had to work with.

I taught myself 3D modeling with this table..  Pretty much why it took so long :P  (along with real life)  The ramp is from Dark/ICPjuggla (gtxjoe for the animation code?) and their Raven table.  The ramp cage started out the same and has been rebuilt and redone an embarrassing amount of times.  Zany did the tube (with awesome PF reflection) and original bumper caps.  HauntFreaks reworked the caps to give them the fancy light shining through bit.  I did most all the other custom 3D models myself minus the standard stuff from the default table and other odds and ends from Dark and Zany. I stole the leaf switches from one of BorgDog’s. Thanks gtxjoe for the math magic on the spinner rod.

As always, check the top of the table for options...  Including GI color, Capture hole lights, Cheaters, Apron inserts, and Rom versions.

You will need to use the latest VP 10.2 build for this one.

Other Credits and Thanks not mentioned above:

Thanks to my test team for help on the vp9 version that turned into this version!!  The Loafer, Shadowsclassic, Nemo, Arngrim, dboyrecords, Zany.  With their help we squashed bugs and tweaked the playability.  Thanks again for your time and help!!

Thanks to dboyrecords, CompuFox, luvthatapex for their versions of this table.  Their tables were my manual for this!!!

Thanks to Arngrim for adding in DOF.

HauntFreaks helped fine tuning the lighting, primitive kicker holes, and tips on cutting holes in the playfield. (Along with all the other things he does)

wrd1972 for help fine tuning the physics.

Thanks to all the Table Authors, Table Template Builders, Primitive Builders, etc. that have come before me.  It's AMAZING(!!!!!!!) what you have all done with this program.  I'd give you all credit but I'd never stop typing names.  Thanks!!!

Hope you Enjoy!!!

This table has a great open feel. I downloaded 10.2 (finally) so I could give it a try (10.1 did not work: as noted in directions). I really like this table, visually simple and very appealing. The ramp looks and plays great- sounds are good- I love the robotic voices in the tables of this era :).

EDIT: No problems so far- I had a little trouble with the smoothness of the ball at first. I followed hauntfreaks advice and tried setting default override to 1 for FPS. Now it is very smooth! I got DOF errors on 10.1 (duh, see directions) but after the switch to 10.2 the errors ceased.

My default FS cabinet had the light-up word "MARS"  blocked by the lighting/bar above it- it took a little tweaking in the camera/light mode to have it show well. Looks good now.

I foresee many hours on this one. Thanks again!

Table looks great but I have an issue. Can anyone explain or have they experience the ball not appearing to move at a smooth 60 fps when its fall rapidly? I get a constant 60 fps the whole time but only with this table does the ball not appear not to be smooth at fast speeds. I have tried with and without vsync. I tested other tables in 10.2 and they don't have this issue. It only appears to be this table.

anyone having issues might want to look in the editor, with the option window open

the FPS limiter/vsync has been set by default to "0"  and the global overwrite is checked

the default should be set to -1 and the overwrite unchecked

my personal settings that gives me butter smooth play is set to 1 with the overwrite checked

hi there table looks great.  get a dof error when I hit the flippers.  looked at the script and its in the area  where it says "if dof on"....how do I turn dof off?

Thx for the table!!!  :)

Best regards, thx again  :)

sorry to waste everyone's time - if you use VP10.2 like the instructions say the DOF flipper error goes away...sorry folks;  great table!

Thanks for a rare one. Very nice but I am still having the dof error when hitting flippers. I updated to VPX 10.2 and still happening- Could it be that I got the error in 10.1 and then updated to 10.2? If so how can I fix it- Really hangin' to try this table.

Did you copy the scripts along with all the other files also?

Yep- copied them over again just in case and still get error.

My bad- Got it now thanks for your help.
