File Name: Popeye saves the Earth - FS - Vpin 9.2.1

File Submitter: mfuegemann

File Submitted: 20 Apr 2014

File Category: VP 9.x Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)

Author(s): mfuegemann
Manufacturer: Bally
Year: 1994
ROM: Link to ROM
Permission to MOD?: Yes, without approval

Hi,

this is Popeye saves the earth Full Screen. I never played the original table but this one is really fun. It is quite hard to find good images of this pin, so I am very grateful to Noah who gave me permission to use his playfield scan. I also want to thank Joep / Sean Palmer, who created the VP8 version, as I found out about the right lock mechanism within their table.

Please use VPin 9.2.1 or above (DX9), as previous versions do not support the flasher functionality.

At the top of the script is a configuration section, where You can activate dB2S, dim the GI and Flashers etc.

Some hints:
- beware the nasty outlanes.
- If You come up the blue Animal ramp, You can push the ball to one of the animals by pressing the left flipper key.
- to find Swee Pea have a look at the map on the DMD and choose the doors accordingly

This version still has some minor issues:
- the sound level is a bit low for the first ball, then it comes up again
- the wheel comes sometimes a bit out of synch and rewards the wrong (next) item
- the GI callback is programmed but is not called from the ROM - strange
- there are still some switch warnings but with no ill effect as far as I know
- DX9 works fine - only the ball launch is not recognized at the first push

Have fun and please use the support topic to address problems or remarks.

Michael

Hi William,

please check Your VPin version. I receive this error only with version 9.2.0. You need 9.2.1 for the flasher functionality.

I will add the necessary version to the table description, sorry for this.

Regards

Michael

Thanks for this table, Just a problme with the DMD : I can't resize it and empty lines at the bottom.

Is there a solution for resizing ?

Hi garath,

You can adjust the DMD size manually by right-klicking on the DMD and choosing "show border", then resize the display with Your mouse. After You are finished, just move the display a bit with Your mouse, otherwise the settings will be reset. Then hide the border again.

I will add the DMD resizing code lines to the next table version. Then You can uncomment them if need be.

Regards

Michael

Sorry I was not clear, I made a screenshot to be more explicit :

https://dl.dropboxus...2704/PB-DMD.png

the problem is all the empty and black lines after the display of the DMD ...

EDIT : Problem solved with 1.1, thank you very much ! It's perfect now  :otvclap:

Check this thread - you need to add a line in the script

Controller.ShowDMDonly = 1

Bring the table sound up through the DMD volume (my coin door switches or 7-0 on the keyboard).    This evens out the sound of the slings with the DMD sounds.
