File Name: Pinbot VP91x and BMPR Physics MOD FS
File Submitter: jimmyfingers
File Submitted: 02 Feb 2013
File Category: VP 9.x MOD Cabinet Tables (FULL SCREEN)
Author(s): unclewilly
JimmyFingers (VP91x and BMPR / Physics MOD)
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1986
ROM: Link to ROM
Media Pack: Link to Media Pack
Permission to MOD?: No

VP91x and BMPR / Physics MOD:
- Added B.M.P.R., tuned all table physics / rubbers, and matched / compared extensively with real life machine here at the Pinball Cafe in Toronto (sadly now closed) as well as utilized PAPA.org videos and others for various comparisons (Note: UWs table had a great starting point for rubber elasticities / physics and some were not touched - just grouped for sound and additional dampening physics routine processing)
- VP91x transparent textures and view settings update
- Added / created new alpha flashers and transparent plastics - 2 levels + plastic edges
- Updated B2B collision script / sounds
- Added Enhanced Rolling Sounds
- Added variable volume / strength based sounds for rubbers, flippers, and other table objects
- Variable flipper strength / tap routine added and enhanced (10 levels of strength) with also new drop catch assistance / momentary recoil adjustments
- New Flipper dampening routine to allow for better straight up table shots
- Changed to Flipper alpha graphics from walls (Williams Logo)
- New physics on ramp / cone (now speed sensitive and can drop in on first pass-previously had to go over once and drop on back motion)
- New plunger (Koadic)
- New UVP, VPM, B2S Selection sub-routine (Koadic)
- Fixed image distortion with eye flashes (.1 height walls changed to .2)
- New rail images (blended and edited based versions of JPs and UWs)
- Resolved / created work-around for layback issues with motorized drop targets graphical anomalies
- Obstructions added for eye shot randomness

Notes:
1) Existing / older UVP would cause stutter on this table (not the table itself); There is a great new B2S backglass for this table but the server and the backglass are still to be completely updated; As an alternative, a streamlined / modified UVP is included in the download (static lights removed from UVP and replaced with manually drawn in lighting)
2) Alpha flashers will need position adjusted if view changed significantly (especially on Desktop - only one ramp per flasher though as image swapping technique used)

Thanks Jimmy!!  Only had chance to play it on my laptop so far but can't stop playing it!!!!!  :otvclap:   Also visually in terms of lighting this is perfect for Pinbot.

For me the addiction to pinball is the illusion of control, without really being in control... BMPR does a great job of further enhacing this illusion created by VP's physics  :good:

Cheers to Scott for the brilliant table and you for sharing this quality mod!  :drinks:

well, as i dont know how the real table works, i found this release too much "bouncy", but OK if you said is close to the original

btw, great job for sure, its very beautifull, and works perfect

and a first good score with 5.3M

quite sure the FS version will sluter in the cab, as its not as powerfull as the desktop

I agree with this. Usually i play with Jack*bot FS B2S 1.0.0 which is based on jpsalas " Jack*Bot VP91x 1.1.1FS" and it is far more nervous and fun to play IMO.

Another thing i dislike in this release is the look of the ball. In Jack*bot FS B2S 1.0.0 version you really can see the ball rolling, in this version it looks like a simple fixed image... i think it is a very important detail in table realism that is too often neglected.

Though i love the lighting of this release and i appreciate all the efforts that have been put into this release i will keep playing with the BS2 version.

I like apples more than oranges.

You do realize that Jackbot is a completely different game from Pinbot, right?

I'm all for constructive criticism, but "thanks for the release, I'm going to keep playing a different game".......damn. (Now I understand ICPJuggla's new thread)

Anyway, thanks for the great release, James and thanks for the original, UW.

This is an awesome MOD, Jimmy. Not too less and not too much of all, just a perfect balance. Thanks so much. Love it.

Thank you! looks great.

- I used the Backglass image and UVP that was included, but the scores are out of alignment with the backglass and the scores, credits and match are not appearing at all.

-Never mind, I figured it out. Thanks for all the suggestions though  :pinnochio:

Funny. I was just playing The Shadow on my cabinet before I logged onto the boards.

It is a great game and I agree, it would be great with the new physics.

This is AWESOME!! Thanx so much Jimmy!

btw- How do i turn off the DMD in this one? I tried adding the .Hidden = 1 in the table init, didn't work... I am using the UVP setting currently.

Cheers,

Maceman

Thank you for this mod, it is a great improvement over the previous version both graphically and play-wise.

I have an issue with the plunger skill shot. Hitting the 100,000 hole seems to be extremely hard; unless the shot sends the ball exactly to the hole, it doesn't drop in. So if the ball goes past the hole just a little bit and rolls back, it doesn't drop but rolls over the 100,000 and back to the 5,000 hole.

This doesn't seem realistic and I don't think the real table would behave the same way, but I may be mistaken of course... can someone confirm that this happens in real life or not?

Thanks Jimmy,

Another fine release.

I always get excited when I see you've released a physics mod.
