Honey (Williams 1972) FS B2S

Version: 1.0.0
Category: VP 9.x B2S Cabinet Tables (B2S)

Author(s): starman, B2S implementation by rosve

Description:
2 screen version of one of my favorite pins from the early 70s.
A huge thanks to rosve for the B2S implemention. It works great!

This table is a result of spending a lot of hours to get its behavior and its look as close as possible to the real machine.

I've used several alpha ramps and could find no performance loss for me.
Then I also hope that it runs smoothly on your systems.
Almost everything on that table is animated.
Among others I made a kicker simulation without using the 'speed xy' thing.
I spent a long time not happy with the outcome, but ultimately I get one, I think satisfactory ball behavior in the kicker areas.

With a few clicks the table can be switched to desktop view.
However, the bumpers and the rubbers then don't look nice.... flat!

Description of the installation of b2s is included.

I hope the tinkering has paid off and you have as much fun as I had and have.

Servus Walter

Incredible Starman! Your attention to detail really shows - love the 'darkened' look, authentic sounds, and the ball is perfect. It really feels like a real EM, and rosve superb backglass is the cherry on the cake. Thanks to you both for the efforts. drinks.gif

Thanks to everyone in the forum for their shared knowledge and experience.
Without you this table wouldn't exist in this way.

Here's a little description for those who have only one monitor in-use -

- Editor -> Backdrop - Swap the blue decals with black text boxes of the appropriate size.
Be sure that you grab the big decal together with the underlying reels -

Attached File  honey_reel_text_swap_A.jpg   15.46KB   15 downloads

- Go to script line 409 (inside the "Sub UpdateScoreReels") respectively line 428
(inside the "Sub UpdatePreScoreReels") and remove the apostrophes in the excluded lines -

Attached File  honey_script_part_upd_scores.jpg   70.23KB   8 downloads

- you get this -

Attached File  honey_FS_1monitor.jpg   180.33KB   30 downloads

Enjoy and servus

Nice trick, Roger!
Didn't know that you've installed an add-on as a kind of lifeline.
Works great with this table, thanks!

great work as usual, both of you, THANKS!

it worked fine on my crap home setup - looking forward to seeing it on the cab in HD.

interesting approach to the rubbers/slings and also the domenuts.
i've been struggling since the beginning to find a domenut technique that i liked, and this is the best i've seen yet.
looking forward to trying something similar on my tables.

one thing, it seems like a bad idea to include the core.vbs in the archive. Everyone has it, and you risk someone over-writing a newer version in the future.

Good point, pinuck.
Actually I was unsure if I should include it or not. I'll heed it for my future releases.

I've experimented several years ago with ramps (as light, etc. - to see on my Nova table). Ramps were always shown brighter and sharper than walls.
At that time, however, no alpha ramps were supported. That alpha support now makes it a lot easier and better looking.

Even the rubber animations shown on the Honey table are simulated by alpha ramps. And one can see if the upper targets are lowered, even the passive rubber moves in touch.
Maybe I'm gone too into details, but I like it.
BTW: The domenuts with acrylic ramps look even more radiant. But not shown as smooth.

Thanks for you work, Starman and Rosve. All my tables work except for this one. My problem is I use player 2 (right) joysyick down as a plunger it works really well. it is mapped as keyboard input letter K. When K is pushed on Honey the game options come up. I don't want to remap the joystick because it is the best option i have for a plunger, plus it is configured for mame also. I use a dual monitor arcade cab with 2 player controls with a I-pac 32 Usb. Had another thought Is there a way to use my Trackball for a plunger? I could never get mouse inputs to work before with VP

I just uncovered this table working on another Williams and.....ugh..... this thing is beautiful. It's a work of art. I can't believe it's almost 3 years old now, but this is quite possibly the best looking table that I've ever played in VP
