This will be my second cabinet in one year time.
Last year I build a "simple" cabinet with only a 32"/20"/17" setup, no toys, no real legs or whatsoever : http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=gallery&image=387
But despite that it played perfectly. It did have lots of tables in it with all the playfield and backglass video's etc. Lots of UVP tables and later on changed them to dB2S.
What I liked the most was the Pinemhi add-on so I could finally have some competition and play "online" against other players. Cause at home nobody wants to play with me

2 weeks ago I reached table 500 (350 Visual Pinball and 150 Future Pinball tables) and sold my cab for € 2000 (that's about 2675 dollar),
which was not too bad for a "second hand" cab but with lots of work and about 1000 hours of configuring all those tables (and artwork) which played perfectly (even Monopoly).
Now I'm reading all those pages on this forum and the setup from Gamester http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=23232 is one of the best I've ever seen.
When I saw it, I was hooked and I want almost the same cab as him, but instead of the Star Wars art (which is also very nice), I prefer my all-time favorite Predator art. I didn't see anything nice yet, but I love Predator.

This time I want all the toys there are in my new cab, like the RGB Cree's, Strobes, Contactors, Shaker/Gear, Zebulon's Board, Plunger Kit, Vishay DMD, Replay Knocker etc etc.

Thnx bosvrucht, didn't knew that. After I've read the topic from russdx : pinDMD-2 development I don't know for sure if I will be using Win 8.

My other cab had Win 7 and everything worked (ok didn't had the pinDMD there), but as I'm using Win 8 on my Game PC, why not use it on my next cab ?

OS is booting quicker in Win 8 (after disabling "metro") and I like to update all my software, to be futureproof and not to install later on to Win 8.

And there is a nice poll on the home page of this site : "Which Windows version do you (mainly) use with VP?" , but no pro's or con's about the choice of selections.

So if the problem about the pinDMD2 is fixed, are there more problems with Win 8 ?

Go with windows 7. Everything works with it and you have lots of resources if you run into weird problems.

On my Game PC I use Win 8 and Visual Pinball and Future Pinball work perfectly. No strange things, stuttering or errors. But there I don't use special things like PInDMD2 etc.

And now already 2 guys are saying that it's better to use Win 7. So I think I'm gonna use Win 7 but this time a Lite version.

Isn't that more of a "Predator vs. Aliens" theme you have going there?

If it was me, I'd make sure to get some of the cast (and definitely the minigun) from the original movie in there somewhere.

Yes ! We want the minigun ! This is going to be a nice high quality build with those top notch parts !

Are you going to source a used gutted cab ? Since you have a 42" lcd, a standard body is going to be

a tight fit, slot routing is the only way with that kind of cabinet. But yeah, really digging the theme !

So difficult to find hi-res pictures of a movie from an era where 480P was the standard.

And I know a little bit of playing with photoshop, but I'm not an artist.

Maybe someone wants to make some art for my cab so I can use that

And what about my previous question, how will the sticker, artwork be after playing on it, will it dissapear ? Or is it possible to protect it with some kind of stuff ?

Most cabinet stickers i have seen are made out of vinyl, real tough stuff, you won't damage that easily.

Removed the plastic cover and the plastic front bezel of the 42" playfield TV.
On the upside there is now a 8mm border and the other side has a 15mm border...
 

 
But I doubt if I have to replace the plastic bezel cause don't know if this is a good idea .... the screen itself is not tight anymore...ok it will be when it's in the cab..laying flat...

The reason I removed the bezel is because the bezel has a widened part on the lower side, maybe I have to cut that part off ...what will I do ?
 
And another question....I want to use Mameman's widebody plans.....but when I change the cabinet bottom size of 594mm to 550 because my TV is 558 wide, will I get in trouble with the lockdownbar ? Is the lockdownbar one size only ?

I think had something similar with a newer samsung tv,  The 'panel' is no longer a nice self contained unit, but more of a cellphone screen-like sandwich held together by the bezel itself,  presumably to cut costs. At least yours is held together by an internal plastic frame, mine just had pieces of tape....

 

I gave up and bought another TV.......  but i guess you can make it work if you want to. Sucks though......(also, dont touch the reverse side of the panel you are holding!)

I really love to keep the standards of the widebody plans cause I know the standard body plans are too small.

The bezel-less size of my TV is : 558 x 958mm (I've got a 8mm border and a 15mm border). With the bezel, which I don't know of replacing it, the size is : 566 x 968mm (and having a 16 and 20mm border).

The width of the widebody plans, cabinet bottom is 594mm. So the TV is too small to fit in there.

I can do 2 things....I leave the plans as they are...and make something that the TV will fit in there, but then I have (594 - 558 = 36 / 2 =) 18mm or (594 - 566 = 28 / 2 =) 14mm on both sides empty space.

Or....I change the plans of the cabinet and make the cabinet bottom smaller (for example 550 of 560) so it will fit and even slot routing the side panels of the cabinet, but then I think I have the problem of not fitting a lockdownbar....

I assume Noah still does custom lockbars. So simply make the cabs the width you need and get a custom one.

I just read a topic from a new member Marx Bros who is going to build a cab http://www.vpforums....843#entry230409

He is going to use a digital plunger too. At the specs he mentioned something about the digital plunger and the Windows version that had to be English.

But why has the Windows version needs to be English ? What happens if you use a Dutch version ?

I thought I read something about it here on the forum, but can't find it anymore. Search options are not that good here...

Does anyone know if this "problem" is still a known error, or is there a fix or solution for it ?

It was a german model, not sold in NL. it was 313 euro (i believe) for the 39"  version. 

 

edit: it may have been the UE39EH5000 .   I am sad to see this happening to more  TV's, as this makes decasing a pain, because you end up with all separate parts that slide about (if the shitty tape samsung uses decides to come loose) ,  apparantly the days of nice self contained metal panels on the inside of a tv are numbered.

 

It does make sense though: if you make your own panels (like samsung and 'philips' do). Then why waste money on an internal metal frame to house the LCD and backlight, when you can just use the bezel itself to contain everything.
