I had just finished setting up visual pinball and the hyperpin front end. I went to play my tables this afternoon and got the "Cannot Create Back Buffer" error.

I've reinstalled drivers, dialed back the max texture resolutions, Alpha ramps, messed with compatability. Nothing is happening.

 

 

I'm on Windows 8 Pro

nVidia GeForce 560 (Driver date 6/21/2013 by M$ <<< I think that could be the issue)

I do want to point out that this was working flawlessly about one week ago, then After installing some games this got borked. I think there's a driver issue...since windows 8 isn't the problem.

 

Any Help here is appreciated.

I also think it's a driver issue. Why don't you install the NVidia driver?

Yeah, if your card is large enough for the texture rendering, then it must be driver....

 

There are some threads on this if you search "back buffer" or "texture offscreen surface" which may also shed some more light....but i agree with a driver swap.
