So I've decided to start working on my second Visual Pinball table. My first table, Independence Day, came out better than I expected, and for a follow-up I've chosen Junk Yard. Like ID, I think Junk Yard is a great table, but, in my opinion, the current VP version lacks the graphics and physics necessary to do it justice. I want this table to have more dramatic lighting, (almost a night-mod feel), and higher-resolution graphics than the last. I want to capture every nuance of the real-life table and make it feel as close to the real thing as VP-ably possible. We'll see of course how well I can pull it off. I may need the assistance of a VP veteran when I get to the wrecking ball, I'll see what the programming’s like when I get to scripting it!

Here's a preview of what I've got so far:

Obviously, this table still needs a lot of work, (and a completed playfield!) But I've got the entire lower playfield built, half the ramps done, and all the plastics in place & uniform in color. So, the most time-consuming and monotonous steps are behind me. I realize of course that at this point the table looks very dull and two-dimensional, but I'll be adding shadows and photoshopping all the images once I get further along to add depth & contrast.

For now, I can get to the fun stuff: Adding the refrigerator, toilet, doghouse, Volkswagen bus, wire ramps, and Crazy Bob with his wrecking ball. And yes, I will be releasing this, and an updated Independence Day, in both FS and 4:3 versions. And if anyone owns one of these tables, let me know- I can really use your assistance. Your feedback is always welcome!

Nice!! This table is very fun. I believe The Trout was working on a playfield redraw of this table, perhaps that may be of assistance to you.

The Trout is well aware. It's his playfield WIP I'm using.

Not knowing the real one at all, I am excited nonetheless, to see it come together! I like it when others post their progress from the start. I can't wait to see how you tie it all in. keep the pics coming! Great job by the way... cool.gif

So, I wasn't able to get a whole lot done this week, seeing as I've started working at a new job; but nonetheless, I was able to get a little bit more work done on the Junk Yard table. Besides changing minute details that you may not notice, I've: Updated the playfield image with The Trout's latest work; I re-did the "Jalopies" wall- it was at the wrong angle and didn't fit proportionally; and I added the wire ramps, (which were much more complex than I realized). The construction process is nearly complete, and everything feels great so far.

Here's a screenshot:

Hopefully I'll have much more done by my next post...

I got some more work done on Junk Yard the last couple days. I've added sides and a back wall, the red flashers, the doghouse, the van, Crazy Bob, and the bowl portion of the toilot, (which I made out of many transparent ramps, so you can see the ball roll round and round before finally going down the drain). I've still got some work to do, but I think I'll be able to finish up the remaining details and pieces this week. Then I'll just need a completed playfield...
