Drop-A-Card 2011A

Version: 2011A
Category: VP 9.x Recreations

Author(s): Bob5453

Description:
You can change the xScale to 2 on the backdrop for an OK 4:3 version
version 2011A - I had to reposition the plastics edges, I must have accidentally moved them. I added The Monks Flipper settings. Thanks Freddie.

version 2011 - Updated and added lots of stuff and it plays much better.

Thanks to Poppote for sharing his table and backglass artwork. This table would not have been created without his artwork efforts.

Thanks Bob. In my opinion the table could be even thinner. Is this to scale?

I think this looks more to scale of a real machine, and this is your table in a window at 1600x1200... (I cropped the pictures sides..)

I don't agree about the table being thinner.

Having the issue in 909 where the bumpers do not work. That is not your problem though Bob smile.gif

Everything looks great here running in fullscreen.

Rawd, I use a pretty wide display to start with, so you could change the field of view and inclination settings on the back, but that would effect the lockbar decal's appearance and the cabinet, which is on the backdrop. Not really angle independent, unless you delete the backdrop or make a new one. I always liked using all of the 4x3 monitor space I could for the table. smile.gif

I also noticed how that looked in 1600x1200. smile.gif

10,079 is already my highscore on this version. I am going to change it to a 3ball game because its not very hard to roll over 9,999.

I think more and more EM releases should include easter eggs like Rawds Sticky Notes for when a highscore rolls over.

If you look at my 4:3 version.... You'll see it takes up a lot of the monitor, so if you stretch that out and play it on a widescreen, it looks ridiculous to me. That's why I needed a different approach for my widescreen monitor. Some of the authors that made skinny tables to start with in 4:3, their tables look better to me stretched out with a widescreen monitor. I guess it a matter of taste, but I quit downloading skinny tables years ago. I was sad to see JP (the original master of using the whole screen) shrink his tables to put the DMD at the top, but it is the authors choice. smile.gif

That's great 1234fd, I didn't use a reel on the credit box, I should have, but you can adjust the size of the font to fit your box better. I'll remember to use a reel the next time as they adjust better to different resolutions of 16 x 9.

Thanks serpiko!

The easiest way to explain a reel is it's an image on the table, whether it's an object or digit counter, that uses a series of pictures in a row like flipbook animation. Digit counting or messages on the table can be put on the table using a text box instead of a reel. The text box uses a font, like you would use in notepad or MS word instead of animation. A good demonstration of a reel is the alien ship on ID4. The ship is a reel, and the different pictures of the ship are drawn with different stages of lighting. When the reel animates, it looks like the ship is flashing. It's actually scanning through the different pictures to make it look like it's flashing. The reels are one of the trickier things to change when a table is modded to full screen. The reel images all have to be switched from horizontal to vertical. Not the easiest thing to do. The first pic is of the reel image that came with ID4. The second is the image I modded to work on a FS cab.

I'll be making my tables like this from now on, the window mode just isn't a good solution for 4:3 table on a WS monitor. I just need to know if Noah wants me to upload a WS version or if he wants me to just update my old tables with these versions.

Any thoughts on doing Pop-A-Card Bob? Probably wouldn't take much to convert this table... slightly different artwork, add-a-ball feature, 500 roll overs score 5000 instead and score goes up to 99,999.

Would be sweet smile.gif
