Trumps Bagatelle

Version: 1
Category: VP 8.x - Bagatelle

Author(s): tiltjlp

Description:
I have enhanced this game with add-a-ball if you land in Hearts, Spades, Clubs, or Diamonds.
Original game handmade by Jaques of London, which began business in 1795. It's quite possible this is a reproduction of a game 211 years old. The reproduction is offered for sale by Toypost of England. You can order yours online at their site:
http://www.toypost.co.uk/home.php. From my version, you can see how well they are made.

I have included a SS of the original and official rules, which I have had to adapt slightly. While the four card suits are being tracked, and you can pick a trump card, trump scores will not be doubled. But when your ball lands in either Doubler hole, your entire score is doubled, not just the balls in the suit below that hole. Listen for Big Ben's gong when you double your score, or when you earn the Special Bonus.

In the original rules, the two small V shaped nail cups at right and left bottom allowed the player to reshoot any missed balls. In my version, you receive a rather special bonus, which you'll have to discover on your own. Since all the highest points are available at the lower half of the table, nudging, as always, is well worth the effort. Thanks to Shockman for yet another image fix.

That was just phase one of my work. I must have never got phase two to you. It does not exist then anymore. It put the backdrop graphic in the top of the pic, and more importantly, added masking walls to each and every nail so the ball was behind them, also changed the kickers to triggers so the ball would not disappear. In fact they would all remain. you could even nudge a captive one out. then at the end of game I would reverse gravity (table slope) and the balls were collected an stored.

It never was 100% till the UC physics were put in. But with 9, these things can be made very realistic.

Phil, I worked with so many people back then that I had forgotten you had helped me out on this one. I seem to recall you also helped improve some graphics. If I can find enough playfield images for more trade stimulators and counter top games, we can both stay busier. But for the time being I'm using 8.1.

I was just saying that my mod did not work good when I made it, and that is why it was not made available. The ball would fall through if a kicker was not holding them, as they are destroying them in the original. With the new physics all the balls can be on the table at the same time and all move with a jolt. It's cool and very realistic. I'll send you the new version to release yourself when I complete it.

By the way. last night, I created a visible plunger for Bozo the Clone. It seems impossible to get the gameplay the same with 9 though, but I only tried a couple of hundred settings so far. I miss plunger strength as a setting, and simple table slope as settings.

That sounds great Phil, it might help me learn what's new and different in VP9. I'm just too busy working with 8 to try to figure it out myself. So I guess we're partners in crime again. And usually back then things that didn't work gave me new ideas, now they give me headaches.
