Family Guy tribute

Version: 1.01
Category: Future Pinball

Author(s): GLXB, Highlnder00

Description:
Family Guy Tribute Table FP v1.0
Family Guy tribute.
By GLXB and Highlnder00

GLXB: DMD animations, scripting, and table construction
Highlnder00: Models, artwork effects, testing and tweeking.

With special thanks to:
Moogster66, Toxie, Highrise,Grizz and everyone else on the Forums.

This table is a fan created table made with Future Pinball.
It is based on the Family Guy table made by Stern.

Most of the rules and play are similar to the real table, but a few things may play different to what you know.
If you want a 100% accurate version of this table then feel free to ignore this FREE recreation and go and spend a few thousand dollars on a real one. wink.gif

NOTE:
In the zip file you should find FOUR versions of the table :
FamilyGuy.fpt this is the standard version with the DMD on the heads up display.
FamilyGuyCAB.fpt same as the standard version except the DMD is on the Backglass
FamilyGuyNGR.fpt this has the custom gameroom removed DMD on HUD
FamilyGuyCABNGR.fpt this has the custom gameroom removed and DMD on backglass.

Also you will find a folder labled highres, use the gfx library in here for higher res textures (you may have trouble with these). Just copy the library over the one in the table folder.
If you have problems with the normal GFX lib and the HiRes then try the one in the minimal folder.

Don't forget to uncheck LOAD IMAGES INTO EDITOR in the editor options if you have problems.
If you still have problems try:
Choose Bilinear Filtering instead of Trilinear Filtering (Thanks for the tip Guus)

It has been found that with this table you will need to set model quality to maximum to avoid crashing.

WARNING:
You may find this table faster than you are used to in FP to slow it down a bit you can make adjustments to the table angle and flipper strength/elasticity.
If you find settings you prefer then please post them.

ENJOY.

GLXB & Highlnder00

Updated to 1.01
fixed some lights not resetting for new game.
Added final Score Display.
Changed some textures in the high res pack, hopefully more people will get them to work now.

Nice start. The physics work quite a bit better than expected.

In my opinion, these complex ruled DMD tables with roms are just too much work to emulate in FP. You did a ton of work to leave it at this point.. I understand though.

Don't get me wrong, I've figured out how to do the DMD etc. But would need rewrite. Plus I wasn't happy with some of the Lights etc.
I have not given up on DMD tables in FP by a long shot. The coding is all there for 95% of modes.
Just not motivated to start the same Table over.

I am working on a personel project and then will come back to this or another DMD table.

Will anyone be finishing your table . You've done a great job with this pin and you owe it to yourself to finish it sometime.

Hopefully one day I will finish it/ restart. I know it seems a waist as it was nearly finished but the way I coded it and the way I intend to do the DMD animations means a rewrite would be the order of the day, and I'm just not motivated at the moment to do the same table again.
I know some people were looking forward to it so I released what I had done so as not to completely dissapoint.
Anyone is more than welcome to MOD/Recode/Bin this table.

I just downloaded this table and I must say, it is very well thought and done. clapping.gif
DMD is nice but not necessary. If the playfield is full of eye-candy (which in this case, it is) I usually don't careless about DMD. To me it's just a distraction from the play.

Having said that, it really would be a shame for you to abandon the work on this table. Would it be too much work to just have a normal score indicator? To me, this is just another example of a table that has sooooo much potential to let it drop.

And one last thing, more sounds from the show would be fantastic. If I knew (and didn't have so many hobbies) how to make them, I would continue this table for you....but I don't.

I take this opportunity to thank all the (re)creators of pinball games (be it in VP or FP). There are so many talented people that it just amazes me how well made some tables are. Kudos to all of you guys!!! Worship.gif

Back to original topic, please do reconsider. I betcha that there are probably others like me that just love to play the games and not spend time looking at DMD's and what not.

Thank you for your kind words.

I do intend to finish this one day. Just not for a quite a while. So I would encourage anyone who can to take it on.
I have several projects (large and small) to get through first.
As I do these projects I find myself thinking 'that would have been good in Family Guy'. As you may or may not see in TDK table when its privately released I have the DMD sorted now and am very happy with it.

Dude, I don't care if it's not finished, I'm just glad someone got the ball rolling (no pun intended). This is by far one of my favorite pinballs, I especially love the mini pinball in the corner (and yes, I've played the actual machine).

wow.

I am depressed to say I seem to be the only one here who cannot get this to run.. I tried 3 different graphics libraries, and it loads super slow and halts at the "initializing Newton".

I want to try this !!

I tried turning on/off things...nothing is working for me. No other tables in FP fail for me, i can play everything except this one sad.gif

I cannot get the table to run either. Everything loads ok, and while it is nearly finished with the start up then a Windows error pops up "... has stopped working. A Problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program". I tried turning off the loading of textures in the editor, running full screen, window mode, reducing to the minimum the details. But nothing helps. I'm running windows 7 64 bit and a Nvidia GTS250, latest drivers. All other tables I have tried work ok.

Under Video/Rendering Options, set your Model Quality to Maximum. Somthing to do with the way the models were made on this table.

I had it load and play fine with xp, GForce 6200 and medium to minimum settings.
I got mine from FPR before it was here.

It has been found that you may need model quality set to high as stated above, do you have it set to high?
