Had a few hours to get started today on the first of my series. Not a whole lot done, but some. Building in a slightly different way now so i don't use the draw in back, because it apparently creates some issues on some hardware.

Sorry changed the topic title.

I was looking at the playfields and from the slings down they are almost identical so i figured i would use the pinbot table as a template for the bride of pinbot since i already have the bumpers coded and the rubber hit sounds added to a collection and all my standard textures and sounds in the table. So the plan is this, I'm gonna build and code both tables simultaneously. starting from the pf up, so basically all the pf level stuff for both tables then working my way up to the visor/face and ramps. then i can have a special wedding release for both tables.
Only had a half hour to work on the bride of pinbot so the objects are really only placed from the slings down, just wanted to ammend the thread and i'll have the progress for both in one place. the rubbers on the BOP blend in with the pf a little bit right now, but once the lighting is done they will stand out. any way added the bop ss to the bottom, will work on them both more on sunday,
Happy forth of july to everyone

Can you eloborate on this "draw to back" thing, UW? Just cuz if there is something that some hardware doesn't like (& I don't remember it or its something new), then I'd like to be aware of it as well as I start messing with tables here.

I forget (it has been a while), if "draw to back" was something I used to pay attention to or not. I know in FP it was important to pay close attention to this or else you could end up with a mess. But in VP, I really don't remember if I "drew to back" for any reason other than to help navigate to the editor.

But I'm wondering in what way "draw to back" causes issues for some people. & in some cases, on a complex table, how can you NOT "draw to back" at times?

btw, this is gonna be one sharp table, i can tell already!

hey, I found this awsome playfield image of pinbot, but you would need to ask permission first (I think)

Look For Stuart Wright (Should be the first person there)

look under his profile image. The third image is a pinbot playfield.

Whoa, wait a minute. That 'draw in back' and 'draw in front' affects something other than the editor? I had no idea.

Also: Looks great so far smile.gif

Basically if you need to get to say a wall underneath another wall. use translate and move the top wall to the side rather than sending the top wall to the back. I've never had any issues with it, but noah for instance will load the table and the plastics will have dissappeared for instance. I'm not sure why this happens, but i was using it a lot as i was not labeling all my switches and kickers as i was building so i would use the send to back a lot. now i label as i go and if i need to get to something i use the translate.

That is interesting to know.

But this sounds like a problem that VP9's "reorder" option should be able to fix, right? I think that option is there just for this kind of reason.
Does Noah use "reorder"? I use it on all tables cuz it doesn't seem to hurt, but I don't have issues with it off either.

R U sure that using "draw in back" is what is creating the problem for some people? Is there any way to know for sure? Cuz "draw in back" sure is useful, & trying to avoid using it could be a pain. Yeah you can select your object by right clicking the select button & have it bring up a list of your objects, then use translate, but that sure is a hell of a lot tougher than just "draw in back". Especially on some tables that use like a ton of lamps or dropwalls, it can be hard to find what you want right away cuz that list of objects can get pretty huge.

This does sound like an issue that should be investigated further, if nobody is on it already.

It's undoubtedly the cause for the anomalies. If I copy, then delete the wall and paste it again, everything is fine.

I've had to literally rebuild entire sections of particular tables to fix them, and I know I can't be the only one. I know UR also has this problem.

Weird. I've never had any problems with "draw in back". I thought it only changed things in the editor; I've never seen it change stuff in-game. Perhaps this is a bug the "open source" team will have to look into for the next version of VP?

Sweet, JP's Jackbot, UW's Pinbot, and I know there are several people interested in doing BoP, my favorite series will soon be all up to date and spiffy. I'm like a kid in a candy store around here as usual.

I'll have bop started within the next week or 2. jc144 gave me permission to use all his high res textures from the fp version.

Ok i started bop tonight and used the pinbot wip table as a template since i already had some objects in the table. i'll use this thread as a wip for both as i am going to build and release them together. modified the first post with the BOP ss. didn't have a lot of time to work on it, basicall got from the slings down in place. but look at that high res pf image =)

Coming into this I expected a mashup of Mr. and Mrs. PacMan and Pinbot. But I guess a new BOP is just as fine.

Worked on BOP a little today, getting the base of the pf done and some of the plastics. I'll work on pinbot a little tomorrow and hopefully get them to about the same progress level. Bride is a little easier as the textures and blueprint are already done. for pinbot i'm makeing all the textures myself.

anyway here is an updated BOP SS
